Once the video is imported, WMM splits that into several clips.

Let's say, a particular clip is like this:

Duration: 0:00:55.20
Start Time: 0:01:32.33
Stop Time: 0:02:27.53

I understand that if the clip needs to be trimmed, I need to go to Timeline
mode and trim the edge with the mouse.

1. Is there a way to do the trimming with the key board? Because, doing it
with the keyboard would be more precise.

2. Can I change the properties of the clip like start time/stop time etc.,
so that I can trim the clip?

3. If I want the clip's duration to be 0:00:36:14 (for example), what's the
easier way to do that?

4. Is there a way we can create clips manually through WMM, by spcifying the
start time and end time?

You can use the preview window (before even putting the video into the
timeline) and do a frame by frame advance either by clicking the button in
the preview control panel or by hitting Alt+(right or left) arrow to advance
the frames until you get it where you want it. Then click on the button to
split the clip at that spot.

Thanks, Mr.Wojo. I tried that and got the desired result.

I just wondered if there are other ways of achieving it.

Wow, its amazing how one can always learn something new; even when you think
you have seen it all. Thanks Wojo, I always thought i could only edit in
the larger increments on the timeline.....that preview panel ability is
great, where you can actually cut it nearly to the frame you want....GREAT!
Thanks...but hey, you should stay at a Comfort Inn next time so that all your
towels don't have the Holiday logo on them!! ha ha ha

just one minor post-script to the thread... a single frame in MM2 is really
a double frame. For NTSC it's a 15 fps working environment; 12-1/2 for PAL.

If you need it more precise... then MM1 is one place to go... it has a 30
fps working environment, so jogging one frame at a time aligns fully with
it.

Your Welcome. FYI I stayed at a Comfort Inn, didn't make me as smart as
Holiday did. ;-)

As far as MM goes I wish they actually would change it to work the way
Ramana wants it to.
It would be nice to type in the exact moment you want a clip to split.
