HI! what format to DVD players use? I mean like to one's you buy for your
TV. I want to burn some media on dvd format but I am not sure what file
formats DVD players can use.

Example: avi, mpeg, xdiv, mov, ect... ?

ps. I was not sure where to ask this question so please forgive me if this
is the wrong place. :)

Technically they use MPEG2 but you cannot simply convert to MPEG2 and burn
to DVD.
You need an authoring program of some sort. There are simple ones that
basically just convert and burn not allowing for any kind of customized menu
etc.. or there are better ones you can purchase that allow for a multitude
of different DVD options.
I have a list of the more popular DVD authoring programs on my website in
the "DVD Programs" section along with links to the author's websites where
you can download free trials and/or demos.
