 - Footage in saved video not the same as footage in timeline Hello. I seem to have an unusual problem with my saved videos. I'm splitting an event I recorded into near-10 minute sections. I've added the clips to the timeline, editted what I wanted, and saved the movie as a WMV. When I go back and play the saved product, I notice the footage runs for a few more seconds passed where I ended it on the timeline. When I play the entire timeline from start to finish, the footage also runs a few seconds past the end mark I had made. But when I put the time cursor anywhere on the clip and press play, the video will end on the mark I told it to end at.  - How do I make the music go all the way to the end How do I make the music go all the way to the end? I video taped my little girls in a ballet recital & dress rehearsal. I put pictures in it & other stuff. How do I make just the music part from the actual recital continue to the end of my movie? I tried to copy & paste it but I also copies the movie part too then I end up with copies of the movie & still no music for the end of my movie where the pictures are. I know there has to be a way.  - .wmv files When I receive files with the .wmv extension via the Internet or email, I can not open them with a number of applications, including MS Media Player (which is set up to be default for this extension plus others). However, if I save the file to a folder on my PC and thenimport it to Mopvie Maker, I can play it from there. What must I do to be able to play these files directly on MS Media Player? Thank you.  - Aspect Ration to DVD I have a JVC HDD cam, I have to convert my files to DV-AVI (Using the free program CONVERIO) to be able to use them in WMM. I shoot them (on the JVC CAM) with the 16:9 aspect ration, because I have a wide screen TV. My questions follow. How do I check to see what aspect ration they are once they are converted on my computer. Ive read answers on here that state I can "click on properties" however it just shows the pixel size NOT 4:3 OR 16:9. Next question, IF for some reason they werent converted (VIA Converio) to my computer to 16:9, is that info gone? In other words Can I do something to them in WMM to get them to 16:9? Also, when I use the save movie wizard, I output it straight to DVD, there is a box that appears with the 16:9 or 4:3 (also NTSC or PAL) should I click the 16:9 Box? The movies appear fine in the preview window but just seem a bit distorted (for a second or two) when they are played on the TV (a 62" JVC DLP). And yes I realize that you cant help if the CONVERIO program is not capable of converting to 16:9 but I am following that up separately.  - anyone know about audio mixing?? i'm trying to mix photos (+background music) and film clips (+audio) i put a music track behind the photos but i can't figure how to remove the music from behind the video/audio parts (cut or fade???????) i've found audio slider which fades the audio from music to video but i can't figure how to save these changes as part of the movie? anyone know about this stuff?  - Error when performing Send to DV Camera Lately when I try the operation, Send to DV Camera, I get the message: The instruction at "0x00000000" referenced at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read". Not only that, each time the operation fails, the free space on my hard drive reduces is by about 600MB? I started out with about 6GB free space and now I a down to 1.84GB of free space. I don't know what kind of temp files the system creates so I can delete then to free up space on my hard drive.  - Windows Media Encoder I downloaded WME, thanks for that info and just want to make sure I am using it correctly. I convert avi to wmv. I select Windows Media Server(Streaming Video) Both video/audio default to multiple bit rate(cbr) Should I use this one? Bit rate is set to 282 kbps should I use this one? Finally when I finish I am asked if I want to save the wme session-do I need to save the wme session? Thanks for any feedback.  - I cannot save my movie to my computer! My movie is finished, but when I click on "Finish Movie," the Finish Movie Wizard says it cannot save my movie. I know I have enough disc space, and the source files are all there and intact, so I have no idea what to do. John Inzer has been incredibly helpful with a variety of issues as I use this impossible program. I can't believe I am 99% there and trapped! Thanks for any help and advice.  - Saved movie in negative/wrong colors My edited 40-minute video plays normally on the storyboard, but when I save it to a WMV movie file, something happens in the compression so that the colors are all wrong, like their color wheel opposites. Looks like a color negative image. Help?! I'm saving it now as a DV-AVI file to see if the same thing happens, but that will be too big (9GB) to fit on a DVD.  - Installing Codecs I got a lot of great info from this sight about my issues with WMM and codecs. I installed the codecs and when I got to the section about installing there were sveral boxes checked. I unchecked all of them accept the codec box-was the the correct thing to do? I had to install DVX and DVX6.8.3. Also WMM works very slow in the area where I placed the video file that needed the codec. Is this normally?. When I work in this area the codec flashes in the bottom right hand corner of my screen on the task bar. Is this proper? And finally, why cant I ask a question here.  - Failure To Recognize DV Camera For a reason unknown to me, I am unable to import digital video from my Sony DCR-PC9. I connect to my PC from The camera via a Firewire (IEEE1394), 6 pin to 4 pin.  - how do Isave an unfinished project to a cd or flashdrive I am wondering how to ssave my unfinished windows movie maker project to a cd or flash drive rather than having it only on my computer's harddrive. I can save it to the hard drive, but when I try to save it to a cd or a flash drive it will not open the project on another computer. This leads me to believe that I do not have the entire project saved correctly. When I try to open the project none of my pictures show up on the storyboard, there are red x's on the storyboard. When I click the play button I get a black screen.  - Need advice on "DVD Authoring" While I'm asking questions, if you'll excuse someone who is interested in this stuff, but doesn't have a clue what I'm talking about most of the time, I guess I don't really understand exactly what "DVD" is! I used the software that came with my laptop, Sonic DigitalMedia Plus v7, and burned a couple video files that I had on my laptop to make a DVD. I don't remember if they were .wmv files or MPEG-2 files, but after my DVD was finished and I put it in my player, the "movie" was totally pixelated as if I was just watching it on my computer at about 400 or 500%. Is this normal; did I do something wrong, is my app not made for DVD authoring, etc? As I said, I am pretty naive about all this, but want to learn. Any help would be greatly appreciated!  - What is best dimensions for capturing analog video from old vid ta I did some checking online, and thought I found something that stated that 720x480 was a good dimension size for video, especially if you want to create DVD's with the files later. But after doing a couple, I think it looks like my images are a little stretched out of proportion as opposed to 640x480! Is there a difference, or is it my imagination? These are old vids of my son when he was a boy, and I want to preserve them in the best way I can so he can pass them on to his family.  - Codec Error My issue started when my computer crashed. I had NERO OEM V6.0 installed prior and no problems with Movie Maker. They installed NERO 8.0 after and still no problem until the 30 day trial expired. The 8.0 had the video player while the OEM didn't. At that time I had a problem with one video file which was in .avi as well as .mpeg. It wouldn't play in either WMP or in the Movie Maker.(Missing Codec) I uninstalled the 8.0 and reinstalled the NERO OEM or EOM I forget which letter sequence and low and behold the video file played in WMP. But I can't import it into Movie Maker. I checked the download codec box from tools-options but still it won't import. I tried to post this as a question, but for some reason the dialogue box wouldn't open up for me. Any Ideas.  - Movie Maker crashes when publishing (Vista) I am running a pre-installed Vista Home Premium OS with Windows Movie Maker 6.0 (also pre-installed). WMM worked just fine until recently. Now, when I click on the File drop down menue and click Publish Movie, the "Circle of Death" appears and the window goes white and the phrase "(Program Not Responding)" appears in the title bar. Invariably, I have to close the program (MS claims it is "collecting information" which "will take several minutes"; I have come to know the latter and disbelieve the former). When I restart WMM, I have to reimport the media and re-edit. This time, invariably, when I click "File" and "Publish Movie" I can publish without problems -- but the "Publish Movie" title and blue bar are permanently images on the desk top. The only why I have found to make them disappear is to reboot. I appreciate any help that may be forthcoming, and offer thanks in advance.  - Vista movie maker makes video black after 3 minutes of playing! I have made my first attempt to make some video in Movie Maker and I think it is quite good, but after I published the movie to a WMV format it plays ok, but the video disappears after 3 minutes! Sound continues... It has 9:32 total. I have tried to publish it as AVI uncompressed, but it is the same! :( There is no effect or something special in that 3rd minute.  - COMBINE MOVIES TO MAKE 1 NEW MOVIE I uploaded an hour long video recording into Windows Movie Maker from my camcorder and saved it in .avi format. Afterward I took differerent clips that uploaded and edited start and stop trim points and save each edited clip as a movie file .mswmm format. I want to combine these edited save movies into 1 movie. However, when I drag a movie onto my timeline and add another movie, the added movie replaces the first movie on the timeline. It happen two times that I could add two movies to the timeline but I don't know what I did different those times it worked.  - Best format for saving files I recently purchased a Dazzle DVD Recorder capture device. Unfortunately, I didn't do my research properly, and I got the less expensive device that does the rendering thru software, instead of getting the device that does it thru hardware. Anyway, by doing some playing around, I have found that I get better capture using MovieMaker instead of the supplied Pinnacle software, but of course WMM only saves as .wmv files. The Pinnacle software will save as MPEG-2 without my purchasing the extra codec pack which offers MPEG-4 capabilities. So I am using WMM to capture the footage from my video tapes, but then I want to go in and add titles, etc. I have edited the footage using both WMM and Pinnacle and added titles, transitions, etc in both apps, then saved them to compare. When saving the footage in WMM, they save as .wmv files, or I can save as .avi files, but they are extremely large. When saving the edited footage in Pinnacle, they save as MPEG-2 flies. I have been told that MPEG-4 is the best to save as, but would have to buy the codec pack from Pinnacle to do so. Question....which file, .wmv, .avi, or MPEG-4, is better to save my files as so that I can create DVD's later with them? Any help would really be appreciated, as I have attempted to read posts here, on the web, etc., and can't seem to find any real answers to this question.  - HELP HELP HELP: Impossible to save the video Please help me!!! After many hour to prepare video, now windows moviemaker say me it is not possible to save it. "Impossible to save it in that position, Verify that the position of the original files and to have aonth free space on the disk....."  - No recordable drive found? After I compile a video ,When I go to "save to DVD" Mavie Maker wil say "conforming" and show a green bar. Then at the end it says " No recordable drive found".  - XP vs. Vista Movie Maker - time and date stamp difference? I have downloaded a number of digital home videos from my camcorder onto my XP pc and then written them to .wmv files. Whenever I reload one of these .wmv files into my XP's Movie Maker, it automatically breaks up it up into scenes and prominently displays the date and time stamp of when each was taken. When I reload these same .wmv files into my Vista Movie Maker I can't find where the time stamps are. Can someone help point me the right direction?  - picture "lags" as audio continues Hi there, I've been using movie maker in combination with Macromedia Flash 8 to create animated films. However, there are certain clips which make the picture in movie maker "lag," moving the timeline slidebar to try to move away from those clips takes a few moments for it to work, rather than it being instantaneous under normal conditions. It's almost impossible to work properly with the clips "lagging," and if it helps the clips that I am using are all in an uncompressed AVI format. I've thought that the massive size of the clips is what is making the program lag, but many other clips of the same format work perfectly. Is there anything that I can do to fix this?  - Movie Maker freezes I have Windows Movie Maker 2.1 on Windows XP and everything was working perfectly until a few nights ago.  - Can't export my video. I'm not new to windows movie maker, I use it a lot. Therefore I know how to save videos. But I cannot save my latest video. I have chosen a location for it which is fine and still EXISTS, I have not moved or deleted or re-named any of the clips, media used in my video and I have plenty of space on my computer to save my video.  - downloading mini dv tapes I am downloading mini dv tapes into avi format so I don't lose the quality of the video. I am trying to take still pictures from the videos and some images are blurry. When I play these videos, Movie Maker only shows them at 15 frames per second on the preview screen. When I look at the properties for the files it says it is 29 frames per second.  - Saving project to my computer causes it to hang I have a finished movie project which I want to save to my computer. I need to save as DV-AVI(NTSC) format as I plan to burn to a DVD. It starts up fine enough but when it gets to around 31% it starts to hang. I attempted it several times. Same result. I had no problem saving to my hard drive using a .WMV, or high quality NTSC format. My project is saved on a 250GB external hard drive with a USB connection. I have 2GB of RAM, 31GB of free pc disk space, and run XP Pro. Any suggestions to make this work? My movie run time is about 1 hour and 40 minutes.
