How can I specify a default transition to keep from going to every picture
and specifying the same transition?

==================================
You cannot actually set a default transition
but you can apply the same transition manually
to all pictures with the following steps:

===
Go to Storyboard view.

Select all the pictures. (left click one
and type...Ctrl+A)

With all pictures selected...go to...
Video Transitions and right click the
one you wish to add and click...
Add to storyboard or type...Ctrl+D.

This works with Effects also.
===

If you are working with still images...you may
find PhotoStory 3 to be a better app.

THANKS! My problem was that I was working in Timeline selecting all the
pictures for transition. Didn't work, but Storyboard did.

Yes, I use Photo Story a lot, but you can't add video clips like you can in
Movie Maker.

It's true you can't add video clips in PS3 but you could consider, depending
on the project, creating several videos from images in PS3 and putting them
together with the video files in WMM.
