This is the first time I'm trying to capture video from my Sony DCR-TRV70
miniDV camera. Movie Maker recognizes it, but when walking throught he
capture wizard, "Digital device format (DV-AVI)" is grayed-out and not a
choice under Video Setting.

Why isn't this available? What do I need to change to make it a choice?

Thanks in advance.

You need to connect via Firewire/IEEE1398/iLink cable.
