I converted some DV AVI files to wmv formats and on playback in wmp, they
look like they just have two colors, mainly green and a black silloute for
the other. The original huge DV file plays fine (but choppy). I am using
sp2, ati x1950xt video card, 2gb ram.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

Often times this is due to the video card driver, is it the most up to date
driver?
Also how did you "convert" the DV-AVI? Did you use Movie Maker?

Hi - yes, I have the catalyst 7.6 drivers, and used movie maker to convert
the files - several formats to compare, HQ 2.1mbps etc.

hmmm, the only thing I can think of off hand is to try disabling the
installed codec's/filters. Maybe one of them is being used to create the WMV
and it is causing the problem.

It's fixed - I changed from wmp9 to 10 and that seemed to fix the problem -
thanks for the suggestions!
