I am using WinXp. My question is relating to Windows Media, Movie Maker 2.1,
and Producer.

We are a small business attempting to create a streaming video to be
published on cd as well as the web. Our goal is to seamlessly combine
captured screen footage, video footage from a digital camcorder, and audio.
For example, the movie would start out with video of the president speaking
to the viewer, then it would cut to the captured screenshots with narration
through mic.

Movie Maker is a great tool with a user friendly interface that we have
already used for creating audio/video files. However, when we import
captured screen files (created with Producer and Windows media) the
resolution makes it unusable.

Is there a way to create such a product using Movie Maker 2.1? Can the same
type of output (movie with title, transitions, etc) be created with Producer
or Windows media?

I'd appreciate any suggestions or recommendations. Thank you.

As you've noticed MovieMaker will always use the video codec for files so
screen capture content won't fair very well. Microsoft Producer is your best
bet and is a free download if you have PowerPoint 2003

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/moviemaker/partners.mspx

It has integrated screen capture and it will use the screen capture codec
for those files for publish so the output should still look good. There's
also a Microsoft Producer newsgroup microsoft.public.producer.
