'Video device is currently in use'
If this turns out to be a double post, forgive me. I thought I posted it
earlier but I canâ??t see it and itâ??s been a long five minutes.
Iâ??m trying to put video from an analog camcorder in to Movie Maker. Should
be possible. Iâ??m using the yellow/yellow connections (composite). When I try
to capture the video I get this message:
â??The video device is currently in use. Close any other application that is
using the device and try again.â??
When I click OK to close that message I get another, â?? The video device
cannot be used at this time because there has been an error starting the
device.â??
All other programs are closed, so whatâ??s up? Tag: "New Collections Folder" greyed out Tag: 46507
No Audio in Movie Maker
When I capture vhs video into Movie Maker 2.1, I can see and hear what's
being captured. However, when I try to edit the captured video and when I
save it and play it, I have no audio. I've tried setting my audio to both
"audio-in" and "microphone". I'm using the 3-wire connection
(yellow-white-red).

Confusion in saving movie format
I'm sorry but I'm kind of new to this forum and using movie maker. I have
downloaded the clips from my digital camera. I'm thinking of burning the
movie to DVD. What I did was to first of all save it to the computer. Shall I
select DV-AVI as the format ? I did this but movie maker does not allow me
giving a message that the file is too big for FAT32, whatever this means. So
I selected the format at High Quality and burned it using another DVD
authoring tool but quality is not good. Can anyone tell me where I went wrong

Final Movie Resolution
I have starting using MM recently by downloading some footage in the highest
setting allowed. However, when I am putting the movie together and veiwing
clips in the small viewing window all looks well, but if I enlarge the screen
to full size, the video content loses it high resolution to a much lower
quality and looks blurred/out of focus. This also transfers through to the
final DVD copy?
I have viewed the video content on my TV, direct from the camera, and the
quality is fine and as it should be.
Does anyone have any ideas why it seems to be losing it's quality through
the transfer process. I am using a Firewire/1394 cable. Tag: "New Collections Folder" greyed out Tag: 46480

Audio Problems
I have an analog video camera. I plugged in all the wires properly, but when
I go to capture video, there is only video, no sound.
In the pull down menu for audio devices, there are two options: Realtek AC97
Audio, and Conexant Falcon Audio Capture. With the Realtek AC97 Audio option,
I can select the audio input source, such as Line In, Line In 2, Mono mix,
ect. I've tried all these options and none of them produce audio.
The video capture device is called Conexant Falcon II NTSC Video Capture, so
it would make sense that the audio device would be Conexant Falcon Audio
Capture.
When I select Conexant Falcon Audio Capture, no options for audio input
source are given. But on the screen before the video capture, when I click
next the screen freezes and will do nothing. As soon as a click around a few
times, it says Not Responding and I have to Ctrl Alt Delete out of the
program. I've tried doing this multiple times, and have rest the computer,
but it keeps happening.

Windows Movie Maker
I have some videoclips, which i want to put together to one movie.
The clips comes in 640 * 480, 8 bit sound, AVI.
No problem making a full movie in WMM in any format - but
the sound is in all cases thin and metallic.
On the original files the sound is fine.
Any idea how to fix that problem, please ?
Is there another program that can do the job (and as easy to use as WMM)
without distorting the sound ?

"problem was encountered" error when I select AVC Compliant DV dev
Just bought a JVC mini DV camcorder GR-D240EK and a Belkin firewire cable to
connect it to my HP PC.
The camcorder is detected OK by XP but as soon as I select capture, and
click on the AVC Compliant DV Device icon from within WMM, I receive the
following error message:
"A problem was encountered while trying to connect to one of your capture
devices"
Have a logitech web-cam and a TV tuner and capture is OK from those.
If I go into control panel, rt click on AVC Compliant DV Camcorder, and
select properties then "test camera" it passes the diagnostic test OK.
My machine also has InterVideo DVD creator pre-loaded onto it - and when I
select the same driver with that, I can control the camera and capture video
without any problems. Any ideas?

Unable to edit video after downloading
Hi,
We are using a Samsung digital camcorder (SC X105). We are having a problem
editing the video.
1. Unable to capture from the camera
2. If downloaded to computer through USB, if imported to windows movie
maker, video comes up with a green screen and if spliced, will play fine.
But, if edited and spliced at the splice point, it will play a green screen
with audio.
We do not have a "fire cable". We have upgraded our RAM and are using what
our IT guy said is "a pretty damn good video card".
All of you guys seem very helpful and I hope you guys can help!

Movie Maker freezes after a few seconds
We have been trying to use MM to download video from our Canon ZR200. When
we first plug in our camera to the firewire, the computer recognizes the
camera and MM starts just fine. We follow the on-screen instructions and
when we start to capture the video, the camera rewinds and starts to capture,
but freezes after about 5 seconds (the most we have ever got is 19 seconds).
After this, the computer no longer recognizes the camera. We have tried to
capture using Adobe Premiere with the same results. We have MM version 2.1
and Service Pack 2. System requirements are not the issue either. We have
tried absolutely everything we can think of. Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated as this is becoming increasingly frustrating. Thanks. Tag: "New Collections Folder" greyed out Tag: 46411

Noise
Slightly off topic, but a video question:
I film with a Sony DCR-HC21. I noticed in a movie I made of a
birthday party in a park that there's a great deal of background
"hiss" in the audio...a constant low roar of sound.
This is not a problem in making the movie in MM. It's sound that has
been picked up by the camera's microphone. I don't use an external
microphone; just the built-in microphone.
Any suggestions for minimizing this when taking the pictures?

Best way to save?
As a matter of opion (as I'm sure I'll get several opinions). What is

Im confused about quality
Hello, I am trying to make a movie of my family, i import the video from my

to the video for some music. Everything looks and sounds fine. Then when I

should I use WAV. instead of MP3? Also, I have a tv with a 16:9, so should I
create the file with that ratio, or would it compromise the quality? Im just

Problems saving DV-AVI file
I am running into some trouble saving a file as a DV-AVI.
I imported about 10 minutes of video from my video camera and saved as an
AVI.
I took one small clip (13 seconds) from about the middle, and Drag to the
timeline.
I did a save movie and saved to wmv format (best quality for playback on my
PC)
This took about 3 minutes and generated the desired output.
Then I went back to the same project and did a Save As to DV-AVI format.
The % complete meter jumped up to 99% and stayed there for about 15-20
minutes, then finally finished (CPU utilization also went to 100% and stayed
there -- this seems like a good thing, it means it is working). When I
played back the AVI file, it contained the clip I requested (audio and
video), PLUS all the clips which came after it in the original file WITHOUT
AUDIO.
I have successfully created two other DV-AVI projects without this problem.
But this was an expiriment to find out what is wrong with my current project.
I am having lots of trouble getting all my clips put together into a single
video, and did this as a test. I have had to stop WMM and reboot several
times over the past day or two, and it seems to me that a temp file or
working directory or something as been messed up. I have tried going back to
the beginning of the project (delete all avi, wmv, mswmm files and recapture
the video again from the source), but this does not help. Every AVI file I
create now has basically the same symptoms with the desired video at the
beginning, then more video tacked onto the end w/o the audio.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Is it possible to remove / re-install WMM? Would that help?
Also, why does the % complete jump to 99, then hang out there for such a
long time?
Thanks so much. Tag: "New Collections Folder" greyed out Tag: 46331
