It plays on the computer but it doesn't work on the DVD player. Can someone help please.     - VHS Quality Video to PC - What res, bit rate, size - Need Help!! I am trying to archive my old VHS tapes to PC and also to create DVD's with them. I am using Windows Movie Maker. I have to select the file type and quality to save as. I believe that VHS quality is 240 x 576. The option I have chosen in Windows Movie Maker is to save as a Windows Medie File (WMV). I am chosing: Bit Rate: 2.1 Mbps Display Size: 720 x 480 Frames per Second: 30 Will I have any problems converting this *WMV file to a DVD file type to burn to DVD and is this set-up overkill with VHS quality?     - how to save separate clips from one single big tape? I have a DV tape that's about 60 minutes in length, within that tape there are about 7 different short video recording clips. I used automatic capture and WMM2 was able to differentiate the different clips and display them accordingly. BUT, when it comes to saving those clips, WMM2 saves them together in one big video file. When I right click on each individual clip, there is an option to "create clip", but that option simplies saves the whole tape into a single file, without the ability to save just that particular clip. This is the first time I am using WMM on XP. The last time I used WMM it was on another machine running Windows ME, and there was an option to save individual clip separately from each other.     - Photos --> slide show --- MPEG? I have a photo slide show I'd like to burn onto DVD, and I'm currently using Nero 6 for this project. However, Nero 6's slide show capability isn't quite up to par for what I'm planning. I cannot navigate between the pictures with the DVD remote's D-pad. I'm considering an alternate method, such as putting my photos into an animated form...an MPEG. Will Windows Movie Maker do this for me? If so, will I have control over delays and transitions? From this point, I can burn the MPG onto DVD as a regular video, and divide it into chapters to more easily navigate between photos. Any information is appreciated.     - no audio when captured in AVI format I selected "DV-AVI" to capture the video clip in AVI format, plus it looks to have the best screen quality, but the end result AVI files contains only video and no sound/audio. If I play the clip within Movie Maker, both video and audio are present. BUT when I captured the same clip under any WMV format, both video and audio were captured without problems.     - Cannot capture PAL DV-AVI in XP MovieMaker SP2 I have a Sony TRV-19. Prior to XP SP2, I could happily switch the capture format between NTSC and PAL in MovieMaker using the Tools/Options/Advanced dialog. I found that I then had to restart MovieMaker for the setting to have effect, but then the capture dialog would reflect the setting as DV-AVI (NTSC) or DV-AVI (PAL) respectively. Very nice. Now with XP SP2, the capture dialog ignores the Tools/Options/Advanced Video Properties setting entirely, and always shows DV-AVI (NTSC) only.     - Nero Express I have created a movie file in W M M about 116,000 KB, containing digital holiday snaps, transitions, titles and backing audio (assorted tracks). It plays perfectly in Windows Media Player but VCD via Nero Express sees the sound occassionally speeding up - at random - with an overall impact of a 2 second audio/picture mismatch during a 19 minute clip.     - another save movie problem Most often when i save my 5 min long created music video, it pauses for a long time on the "estimating remaining time" and then an error message pops up saying either my files are not in the right place, my saving location does not have enough storage, or the saving location doesn't exist.     - Stupid Green Line in my video's I have this green line that runs along the right side of my video's that I capture from a DV Camera. It's really annoying, considering that I'll probably put some of these video's on a DVD or VHS and I don't want it to have a green line on them.     - Cannot import audio/video without wmm crashing I downloaded the new 2.1 version and I went to fix a clip for a video of mine and tried to find the missing audio file, and when I did it locked up.     - WMM 2 Locks up when dragging bar on timeline I have a project containing video, overlays, and music. I have worked on this project in the past, and have done so successfully. I have upgraded my PC to a Dell 4600, 1 GB RAM, Pent 2.8, etc... WinXP SP1. I have not been able to run WMM without problems. I have read many of the posts, visited Papa John's website (read and tried almost all of it), and still no success. 1. My current problem is this: When I open my project, everything opens O.K. If I move my mouse down to the timeline and click on the play button, the video and music works fine. If I then press pause, then play again, it works O.K. However, if I drag the position bar (the thin blue verical bar which shows where you are on the timeline) to a different starting point on the timeline - then press play to continue from that point, the video preview window says its playing, but the frame either shows the last image from my last position on the timeline, or the video just disappears to a black screen. I also get no sound. Why would everything disengage when dragging the timeline position bar to another part of the movie? 2. Whenever I try to lengthen my still images by dragging the right side of the still image from say 3 seconds to 5 seconds, I can do this successfully about 2 or 3 times. But when it is more than that, the project locks up and I have to kill it with Task Manager? I have spent the past 3 days reinstalling WMM 2, Media Player 9, Direct X, etc...     - Custom video effects Is there any way for me to have a black background and make the pictures I want move in a ferris wheel type motion and have them fade into other pictures after a given time.     - Analog camera to Digital camera to PC - Video but no sound! I am connecting an analog camcorder to a digial trying to convert and record to my PC. The analog is connected to the digical camcorder via S-Video for the video. For the audio, the digital camera came with a 3 prong to 1 connection (i.e. red, yellow and white merge into one conection to go into the digital camera). I have the sound jacks connected to the analog camera with the video jack unplugged and s-video conecting the 2 cameras together. I have the digital camera connected to the PC via firewire. interlaced recording from my PAL Video8 camera gets de-interlaced.

Is there a setting in WMM2 to make recordings (captureing) de-interlaced?

Hi Jesper,

If you capture as DV-AVI, the interlacing is preserved.... if you capture to
a WMV file, it is automatically de-interlaced.
