I have old video 8 tapes that will play on our new Sony digital Handi Cam.
Can I capture this analog video as it is played from the digital camera?

Yes you can. I have the SONY TRV-460. I hook it up via
firewire and treat it as it was digital video. Because
this model has pass through capabilty it does the work
for you. Main reason I bought it. Movie maker doesn't
know the tape is not a digital tape. The only thing is,
the quality will only be as good as the original analog
camcorder. So even though you'll bring it in as DV-AVI
and save as DV-AVI, its going to have a little lower
quality than any new video you shoot and import.
