    - editing/copying MM2 using different computers We just learned to use MM2 yesterday. My daughter's group (12 years old) would each like to edit a portion of the movie. I burned it to a CD, but I cannot open it (how do you open the file?). How would each member edit their portion and how would we re-assemble the whole thing (assuming each has MM2 and CD burner).     - MM2 to DVD via Nero6 SE Hello , I cannot burn to DVD and searching the queries I do not come up with an answer can anyone please advise. I capture video and save in DV-AVI. Then make the movie and save as DV-AVI.When I come to use Nero 6 SE which came with my drive, I click on DVD, then on Burn Image to Disc. Then on make VCD and import my Movie which is now shown as a AVI file. working Through to Burn. The encoding process starts. When finished a message informs me that (The compilation can not be written on this type of disc.     - DV-AVI I am very new to this! - I have a Sony MiniDV Camcorder and am using Windows Movie Maker. I want to capture the video as DV-AVI but this option is not enabled - although the option shows on the screen I cannot click on it. The only available options are "best quality for playback on my computer" and "other settings". Other settings does not include anything about DV-AVI.     - Black screen with sound only instead of movie Ok... I've figured out how to transfer my video files from my camera to my computer and from my computer into Windows Movie Maker with all the snazzy features etc and everything works until I convert it to a movie. It takes a long time and this isn't a problem but after it's converted to a movie file, I try to play it back and the first few clips come out with sound playing but no picture and then a couple of clips in, it plays normally.     - Can't find Movie Maker I reformatted my HD last weekend and I'm piecing things back together. I'm trying to find Win Movie Maker 2. The MS page says it is included in SP2. I have my Automatic Updates turned on. I did a search on my HD but Movie Maker is not there. I also can't find a "manual" download for Movie Maker on MS's site.     - System memory and Moviemaker performance I have just started playing with video capture so I apologize if my question is an amateur one... I have an AMD Athlon XP 2.4, with 512 MB of RAM and a 200GB 7200 RPM hard drive. I used my capture device to capture about 40 mins of video, in MPEG format. The filesize was about 608 MB. When I tried to import this clip into MovieMaker, it grinded for about 20 minutes until finally responding again. The hard drive and entire system strained non-stop during this time. Once it did respond I was not able to do anything with the clip without the never-ending grinding again. I was watching Task Manager and did not see Moviemaker use any more memory, so I am not sure what it was doing, but it is certainly not useable with a clip of this size. I have imported some smaller clips and the response was much faster. What do I need to do to speed this up? Do I need to have more system emory than the size of the files I am importing?     - Cannot view burned discs on home dvd player I am trying to burn vcds from the movie maker program that can be viewed on my home DVD player. They burn fine and I can view them through the windows media player but I cannot view them on my home DVD player.     - How to save a Project in WMM2 and retrieve later. I create and save a Project to my hard drive after entering a file and folder name. Then save it to Save a Movie and follow the Wizard. When I go to My Videos (where I saved it to) and click on the icon, I get the popup ".wmv is not a valid WMM Project File. To importa picture, audio or video file to use in your Project, on the File menu, select Import to Collections." I do that but to no avail when I try to pull it up again from My Videos folder. What am I doing wrong? My goal is to retrieve it from Nero 6 to burn the file to a dvd hopefully to be played on most stand alonr dvd players.     - How Can I Record Xbox Footage onto my PC? hey everyone. i'm a newb when it comes to capturing vide. i rea that you can use an ati all in wonder card to record you xbox footag onto your pc. i have bought an ati all in wonder 9200 card last nigh for $150. kinda pricey, but oh well.. anyways, it comes with pinnacle studio 8, ati catalyst, and somethin called matchware mediator 7. i have installed the hardware and al software successfully as well as the drivers for the card. i hav hooked the a/v-out cables from the xbox to the purple a/v-in plu that came with the card. it is plugged into the capture card in th back of the computer. i also have the monitor plugged into th capture card the problem is that when i try to use pinnacle or windows movie make or other programs i get errors when i try to capture. i havent trie to capture using anything other than my xbox. i swear i have th cables and everything hooked up the way i've seen on many sites an it all sounds simple and makes perfect sense to me. the errors i get say that the video device is in use by somethin else. so what should i do? thnx in advance Tag: Capture analog played on a digital camera Tag: 30596

    - After hotfix still can't capture from Sony DV I have in the past been able to capture mini-DV using firewire through my Audigy sound card. Now I can't seem to do this on the PC. I installed the SP2 hotfix, and still cannot capture. However, my firewire works with my ipod and my external hard drive. I get the "bing" connection noise and transfers work. I went into regedit and set the speed to 3 from 2. Neither my Canopus ADVC100 or the Sony mini-DV camcorder are recognized (no "bing" noise). Any suggestions of what to try next?     - Hangs at Import... I've been trying to import using an S-video cable and an audio Y cable into the video 1 ports of an Angel MPEG card (which I use as a TV tuner) in a Dell Dimension from a Sony Handycam. When I didn't have the Y cable plugged up, the video came through. Once I hooked up the Y cable, the audio came through but the video didn't (just a black screen). Both times, however, MM got stuck at Importing... with the bar completely green and never went to the test part of the pop-up window. When I got tired of waiting (I gave it over an hour figuring it just took a long time to process), I clicked Cancel, and it still didn't shut down. Then I went to Task Mgr to shut it down, and it told me that MM was waiting on input from me. This is my first day using this program, so please excuse me if I'm WAY ignorant about all this.     - Clips cut off at the top and no audio I am running windows xp, moviemaker 2.something, ATI radeon card ATI rage theater videocapture, Soundmax digital Audio and trying to copy a tape from VCR (Three jacks, Red, White and yellow) to DVD burner.     - DVD Burning I know this has been explained before because I have read many of the posts listed here. I have also read Papa John's manual on the subject but here is the problem I am having... I have completed a Movie Maker project and am trying to use Sonic MyDVD version 5 to create the DVD. When MyDVD asks I choose "Create or Modify a DVD Project" then I select "Get Movies" Then when I select the movie I have created I get a message telling me that MyDVD doesn't support the type of file I am trying to open. It comes with software that can be used to do video captures, and this seems to work fine.     - Video Capture I have been struggling with video capture in Movie Maker 2, Adobe Premier and one or two other Video editing programes. I use a Canon camcorder with a firewire connection. After many hours of frustration and checking of computer and camera I finally discovered the reason for not being able to capture the video. On my camcorder there are 4 recording settings shortplay, longpplay, extended sp and extended lp. Video capture on all the software seems only work when the recording has been done in sp or lp mode due to the loss of data on the extended recording mode.     - Newbie trying to make edits to finished movie I work for a non profit and we had a volunteer put together a promotional film for us using video, stills, narration, music and titles. The finished product is great, but there are some errors that need to be corrected before we can use it, and the volunteer isn't available anymore. He gave me a CD supposedly with everything I need on it to edit, but since I've never used Movie Maker (I have XP home & MM2.1). I've read lot's of info about how to get started. I also copied all the contents from the CD onto my computer. Here's my problem: I imported all the files from the CD into collections, and can open the project, but the timeline shows big red X's instead of a thumbnail. Also there is no audio that shows on the timeline and the only thing that plays is the title overlays. I've tried to browse for 'missing files' but get an error message that the file I found doesn't exactly match the original. When I looked at the properties of each file on the timeline it said the location was something that looked like his computer, but after I copied everything to my hard drive and re-imported the files, it said the location was where I had copied everything, but it still wouldn't work correctly. The volunteer saved the completed movie as a wmv file, which I can play, and imported into the collections. I even tried to place the wmv files on the timeline and while that will create another copy of the movie, I can't edit anything. I think I have all the raw images and video, but really don't want to re-create the whole thing from scratch, because there are only a few edits that have to be made, but they are important. Yes you can. I have the SONY TRV-460. I hook it up via
firewire and treat it as it was digital video. Because
this model has pass through capabilty it does the work
for you. Main reason I bought it. Movie maker doesn't
know the tape is not a digital tape. The only thing is,
the quality will only be as good as the original analog
camcorder. So even though you'll bring it in as DV-AVI
and save as DV-AVI, its going to have a little lower
quality than any new video you shoot and import.
