Capture Problems

I am attempting to capture from my 8mm analog camcorder
using a Dazzle Digital Video Creator device, but the
captured video is so shoppy I can't edit it.

My computer is running a 1.2 Ghz AMD Processor with 1 Gig
of ram

Any suggestions

What happens when you preview the video through the capture window, without
actually capturing? Is the video choppy also, or only when you capture?

If it's choppy while not capturing, something's wrong with the device. If
it's while capturing, that means that your computer doesn't keep up with the
speed of writing. There could be many reasons causing this. For instance,
there could be a process running in the background that's eating up your
CPU. Or maybe your HD needs a defrag, or maybe it's set in the Device
Manager at PIO transfer mode, rather than DMA.

First we need to know, however, if when you preview without capturing - the
video's smooth or not.

Heya Marko ... my video is a bit choppy too ... I have a generic "dongle"
thing I bought from Computer Geeks ... It's called "Video Genie". The
preview is slightly choppy, but it generally comes out "ok" but not
absolutely perfect (I wouldn't expect it to be perfect, it's a USB 1.1
device!)
I am capturing in 320x240 mode on medium quality on a USB 2.0 port.
Would I be better served byu getting a USB 2.0 device or something like
that on TV card woith the front bay video ins? [Obvious answer!]

I didn't get any capture software with it, just the driver so I tried the
package Video Studio 5 from Ulead, and it loses more frames than the
Movie Maker program in Windows ME or XP Home..

Also, see my next post about DVD drive, I have some difficulties going on.
