Cant capture Video

I went through the steps to capture video. I press the "Start Capture" Button and the camera appears to be capturing but the Video Captured: 0:00:00 and the Size of Video File: 0 KB doesnt start showing numbers. Once I press the Stop Capture button I get an error that says: "The specified video deviceis not responding. Verify that the device is connected properly and turned on, and then tryu capturing again.
I have done this on another computer a week ago successfully so I know that I am correct in what I am doing
Any thoughts

What is the method of connection used in both cases (now and a week ago)

Have you confirmed in the device manager that the method used to connect
the camera is actually active and working properly?
