I have a JVC DV camcorder that I am trying to capture video from. I have a
firewire card and cable that are new and I have already captured three tapes
worth of video with. Now I am running into a problem. I can connect the
camcorder and it automatically open WMM and its capturing utility. I go
through all of the set up and select either capture whole tape or capture
manually. Preview is on. Then when I go to Start Capture WMM will control the
camcorder but nothing appears in the preview, the size of file always shows
as 5K i believe but the time displays as zero. When I stop the Capture it
gives me an error that the device might not be connected properly or the
program isn't correct.

I have uninstalled the firewire driver twice, I even removed the card all
together.

Any info would be great

Thanks
Sean

Sean:

did you ever get this problem fixed? I recently purchased a JVC DV and have
encountered the exact same problem.

Thanks,

Austin

So far the only fix that has worked for me is restoring my computer to the
earliest state that I could and that only worked for 1 capture. I have since
then formated my computer and installed Windows XP SP1 and have had no
problems. The only draw back is Movie Maker version 1.1... does not have any
of the other functionality for creating movies like version 2.... I have
thought about putting two operating systems on my computer SP1 and SP2 so I
can capture with SP1 and edit with SP2.
