I have video footage that I want the music to play over, and some
footage that I want the actual video sounds to play. I know how to turn the
music up and down with the slider manually, but how do I make it so that it
does it automatically, and will it do that when I transfer the movie to a
dvd? In other words...I want the music to fade out in some scenes and fade
back in on others...and have the actual sounds of the video playing.

you cant. not with windows movie maker. what you CAN do, though not as
easilly or smoothly, is separate (split) the clips, and adjust the volume for
that individual clip by right clicking on that clip. WMM is a simple program
with lots of limitations, and it takes a bit of creativity to get it to do
some more complex things.
