This is the first time I use Movie Maker. I tried to combine several video
clips I took using my digital camera but the audio became noise instead of
recorded conversation. If I play the clips from the original files it comes
out okay. It's
just when I put the clips to the storyboard then the sounds turns to noise
(like the noise when you are tuning the radio). My friend use the same
video clips I sent
him and he can make it without problem. Anyone knows what went wrong?
Thanks,
Joyce

The main reason your question remained unanswered is that your question
contians incomplete information:
* What is the make/model of your camera
* What format are the movie clips: avi/mpeg2/mov ?
* Give a comparison of your system/software installed vs your friends.

I don't know what's causing it, or how to fix it - but I solved it by
reinstalling windows. I hope you find a better solution.

If you do, please update us.

thanks Rehan. please see below my reply:

Standard Windows installation came along when I bought my
computer. I don't really know the system/software my
friend used but he's using the same Movie Maker as mine
(Movie Maker 2, service pack 1). Sorry, I'm not very
familiar with computer systems so wouldn't be able to
give a more comprehensive comparison.

I tried to edit the photos using MM and it works well.
And when I play the sample files from the storyboard it
works fine as well. It's just when I drag my own clips
to the storyboard and play from there (or after I save it
as movie) the sound turns into noise.

Any suggestions on how I can fix it would be much
appreciated.

Thanks

Hope you mean EX-Z4 (http://www.exilim.co.uk/product/exz4/)

This camera records clips in MJpeg format which should be compatible with
Movie Maker!
Nevertheless, most probably you should be able to get around this issue by
converting the movie clps into Windows own WMV file format using the Windows
Media Encoder.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/encoder/default.aspx

This tool can convert multiple clips in one go.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the tip. I will try that Media Encoder.

The weird thing is when I use my office computer's Movie
Maker to convert the same .avi files I failed using my
home laptop and it works fine. guess there's something
wrong with my laptop.

Thanks again for your advice.
