    - exporting I created a 21 min movie in WMM, and the program will not export the file. I have 40 free gigs on a NTFS raid drive, and the tmp files are stored on it as is all the video files.     - TWO + WASTED DAYS! I spent the last 2 + days editing a movie using Movie Maker. Only experienced about 9 system lock-ups, strange happenings, etc. which I consider successful for this piece of $#&* code. Well the last error "LOST ALL MY WORK", prior to that I would either restart the system or MM, the system would start and ask about a file that was saved, nice touch. It appears what has happened was at the previous restart and file message, after restoring the saved file, MM erased the backup file, ergo no backup until another automatic save. I have had it with this product. Approximately 19 hours down the drain. Does anyone know of fixes for MM, or any other product that can at least stay up and run. It seems that anytime we try to move the movie (and clips) to a different location from the one in which it was created, it will not run (Xs replace the individual clips).     - DVD Burning I tried to burn a DVD and got a failure. I used a Maxell DVD+RW "Up to 4X, 4.7GB 2 hrs." I tried again using Maxell DVD-R "Up to 8X, 4.7GB 2 hrs." This was successful. I this because of the "4X" vs "8X?" or did it have something to do with the +RW vs -R? I asked Nero but it takes a week or two for them to answer....     - video clip confusion I am trying to select clips from a video in order to use them in a powerpoint presentation. The problem is, MM2 picks the clips for me when I import the video.     - MPEG2 Not Windows Movie Maker choked when I imported an MPEG2 file. So I search Microsoft's support and found the note about WMM not be able to import MPEG2 files even if Windows Media Player could play them. It suggested that Windows Media Encoder would be able to convert the file. I downloaded and installed WME. I tried using the wizard but when I clicked on finish WME just disappeared. I then skipped the wizard and tried manually defining the input and conversion. When I hit apply WME hung. It would not repaint. It did respond to the minimize button but it would not close. When I tried using Task Manager to kill it the dialog box that asks if you want to send a report about why you had to kill a program popped up but WME didn't go away. It wasn't using any CPU cycles so I just minimized it until I could log out and reboot. The file was created on the same machine with Video Redo Plus editing a clip. I just wanted to convert it to an WMV file to put on a web site. I can run it through Nero first to convert to an MPEG1 but that shouldn't be necessary.     - Save as .avi not dv-avi All the posts about avi files seem to relate to the dv-avi for use with camcorders. I just want to save my movie as an .avi file for storage on my CPU (without it being 40G). Is this possible? I have other feature length movies which are at most 1.5G and yet when I tried to join two 714M clips it was going to be nearly 40G to save as a dv-avi.     - firewire and WMM Hi, I'm new to WMM and to camcorders, and video in general. I have a brand new WinXP pro SP2 systyem. I just purchased a Panasonic PV-GS150--used. It appears to be in good shape. And I can record and transfer the video to WMM via usb just fine. But I also got a DV-firewire cable. When I try to transfer my video to WMM with the firewire connection, WMM says "A video capture device was not detected...." I called Panasonic techsupport and they told me that they didn't think the problem was in the camera but rather in the sdoftware. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem? Is WMM capable of capturing video over a DV-firewire cable?     - No sound capturing AV from VCR Hi, I am new to Movie Maker and am becoming frustrated! Running XP MCE 2005 with Hauppauge 150MCE PCI card. I have connected a VCR to the AV inputs on the 150. Using the Hauppauge apps I can view and hear a playing tape. Using Movie Maker I can see the video but there is no sound.     - **WMM FORMAT** Finally at last. . .a breakthrough. I would like to thank everyone for their input. I got most of all my needed information from other people's post's. Thank you guys so much too! Guess i got lucky and ended up on a Ulead site and downloaded Ulead videostudio 9. WAA-LAA! I am the proud owner of 2, 1 hour plus videos burned to DVD disc that worked on both my home players. My process was importing all my footage into WMM. . .edited into a movie. . .saved to my hard drive, via high quality(large)video format. . .picked up finished movie project by Uleads videostudio 9 for final edit and burn. "whew" Exhausting, but i am way stoked man! Now if i can get some input on how to manipulate the burning process to where it doesnt take to long. Both of my projects combined took like 18 hours to burn. Did i hear by lowering the bit rate or something like that? Do you lose quality?     - Trying to locate saved Credits I have worked on a project and added credits at the end. This took me a lot of time as the credits were many and I was very pleased with the results. I have a lot of similar projects and would like to locate this particular project (cannot remember its name) so I could use (or copy) the same credits again without having to re-create the whole lot.     - Line In Doesn't Appear Anymore I used WMM for months, sending audio through line in and saving it as a wma file. I even wrote myself a word document listing the steps I needed to take to do the recording. Now when I start it up and try to record (via the narration recording feature) it doesn't list line in as a recording option on the appropriate sound device.     - I have a mess on my hands 2 The Continue saga with my mess. I went back to my movie removed video effects and some transitions. This seems to help the video or sound from freezing to some degree. I found that if I delete the clip where the problem occurs and then place it back from the video clips on my collections that the problem stops. Can anyone tell me why this would be so?     - File size I'm really confused on how to put a movie up on the web so that someone can link and open. I have a movie that is just over 3 minutes long. Saving it to Video for broadband at 540 kps results in a .wmv file of 12,812 kb. I've tried to upload this to my Earthlink host several times, and it just won't upload.     - WMM hangs after X MB usage Why will MovieMaker just hang indefenitely after capturing approx 25 images (<20Mb), or after approx 10 minutes? I already divide my albums into portions of no more than 25 foto's; frequently less. When I use WMM I save every 2 images in order not to lose work. And even then, WMM will just stop responding after -let's say- 5 minutes of work. Only remedy is abort job via task manager and start all over. I use XP HE SP2, 512MB ram (usage 250-330Mb though) AMD 1800Mhz processor. So specs are OK, program is not. from the Collection area. But when I try to add it to the timeline, the audio
changes to half the speed resulting in mismatched audio/video and a lower
pitch to the voices on the clip. How can I fix this?

that's a symptom of a source file that was made with a codec that Movie
Maker doesn't effectively use.... see the Import Movie Source Files > Video
section of my website.
