    - Continue working on a different computer So I'm putting together this whole movie but I'm still missing a couple of scenes, so I actually wanna take the project and put it onto my friends computer (cause I'm in a boarding school and can't take the pc with me, but my friend has one there) and insert the scenes. Is that at all possible? Or do I have to export the movie I made so far and have it again scrambled to pieces on my friends computer?     - Hangs at Import... I've been trying to import using an S-video cable and an audio Y cable into the video 1 ports of an Angel MPEG card (which I use as a TV tuner) in a Dell Dimension from a Sony Handycam. When I didn't have the Y cable plugged up, the video came through. Once I hooked up the Y cable, the audio came through but the video didn't (just a black screen). Both times, however, MM got stuck at Importing... with the bar completely green and never went to the test part of the pop-up window. When I got tired of waiting (I gave it over an hour figuring it just took a long time to process), I clicked Cancel, and it still didn't shut down. Then I went to Task Mgr to shut it down, and it told me that MM was waiting on input from me. This is my first day using this program, so please excuse me if I'm WAY ignorant about all this.     - Clips cut off at the top and no audio I am running windows xp, moviemaker 2.something, ATI radeon card ATI rage theater videocapture, Soundmax digital Audio and trying to copy a tape from VCR (Three jacks, Red, White and yellow) to DVD burner. I have the clip cut off to only a small strip at the top and no audio at all. I can see the whole pic on the moviemaker window but viewing thel clip shows just the strip. I cant hear any audio at all.     - DVD Burning I know this has been explained before because I have read many of the posts listed here. I have also read Papa John's manual on the subject but here is the problem I am having... I have completed a Movie Maker project and am trying to use Sonic MyDVD version 5 to create the DVD. When MyDVD asks I choose "Create or Modify a DVD Project" then I select "Get Movies" Then when I select the movie I have created I get a message telling me that MyDVD doesn't support the type of file I am trying to open.     - Creating DVD with MovieMaker 2.1 Hi, My apologies if this has been dealt with elsewhere. I am looking for a quick step-by-step for using MM2.1 to capture from my DV camera to DVD. I have successfully connected and captured one tape to a video file, but I learned at the end of the process that DVD is not one of the output formats. Is there a simple way to get from my DV camcorder to DVD? I am not doing a lot of editing or anything like that. Just some basic titles and little else.     - Problem capturing video from ADSTech DVD Xpress Hello all... I recently purchased a USB 2.0 video capture device by ADSText called DVD Xpress. It comes with software that can be used to do video captures, and this seems to work fine. However, when I try to capture into Movie Maker, I get an error: The video device can not be used at this time because there has been an error when starting the device.     - Video Capture I have been struggling with video capture in Movie Maker 2, Adobe Premier and one or two other Video editing programes. I use a Canon camcorder with a firewire connection. After many hours of frustration and checking of computer and camera I finally discovered the reason for not being able to capture the video. On my camcorder there are 4 recording settings shortplay, longpplay, extended sp and extended lp. Video capture on all the software seems only work when the recording has been done in sp or lp mode due to the loss of data on the extended recording mode. Then I downloaded the media edition but could not find the activation code. So I uninstalled all of these and put them onto a cd for later use.     - Newbie trying to make edits to finished movie I work for a non profit and we had a volunteer put together a promotional film for us using video, stills, narration, music and titles. The finished product is great, but there are some errors that need to be corrected before we can use it, and the volunteer isn't available anymore. He gave me a CD supposedly with everything I need on it to edit, but since I've never used Movie Maker (I have XP home & MM2.1). I've read lot's of info about how to get started. I also copied all the contents from the CD onto my computer. Here's my problem: I imported all the files from the CD into collections, and can open the project, but the timeline shows big red X's instead of a thumbnail. Also there is no audio that shows on the timeline and the only thing that plays is the title overlays. I've tried to browse for 'missing files' but get an error message that the file I found doesn't exactly match the original. When I looked at the properties of each file on the timeline it said the location was something that looked like his computer, but after I copied everything to my hard drive and re-imported the files, it said the location was where I had copied everything, but it still wouldn't work correctly. The volunteer saved the completed movie as a wmv file, which I can play, and imported into the collections. I even tried to place the wmv files on the timeline and while that will create another copy of the movie, I can't edit anything. I think I have all the raw images and video, but really don't want to re-create the whole thing from scratch, because there are only a few edits that have to be made, but they are important.     - Capturing video from VCR When I tried to capture video from the vcr I could see the preview of the movie in the preview pane and I would hit capture for a 15 second or so and then stop it and let it import into movie make to see if it was working. I could only see a gree screen with a funny line at the top and when I hit play to see the clip I would see a green scree with a moving squiggly band of color at the top. I assume that was the video.     - First Movie I imported an old home movie from VHS tape. After editing, it is 1 hr. 16 min. long. Some of the video has jerky motion. What caused this? I saved it to my hard disk in DV-AVI.     - Where in "pc land" is my camcorder? Hello all- I have been reading board trying to fix problem without having to post but I'm finally giving in. I have recently built new pc running XP pro sp2 and have bought new panasonic dv-gs15 and I am trying to capture video from it with no luck. I'm using a 1394 connection. The card is made by PPA and did not come with or offer any drivers on website. No problem window finds it and installs just fine. First time plug in camcorder windows identifies dv and says device ready for use. Tried using MM2, Ulead6, and Nero6 but all say "no video capture device installed." Cant find under my computer or device manager. EACH time i plug in or unplug camcorder windows make (ding) noise to let know it is attached. I am using power supply not battery and is set on vcr playback. I also disable network connection so windows does not get confused on card function. I've tried the following: -Bought new 4pin to 4pin cable -Exchanged 1394 card for new one -Uninstall card, shutdown, remove card, reboot, replace card new slot, install, etc... -Different video editing softwares -Reinstalled window xp pro -Tape inserted in, tape out of dv -Udated all neccessary drivers, ms updates, and double checked bios settings Any suggestions I havn't tried already please would help?     - Problem with saving movie When I try to save my finished movie, my computer never gives me a time to the movie's finish and appears to quit working. I am downloading to Windows Movie Maker 2 from a Sony handycam. I have had a
great deal of success downloading Video with Audio up till recently. I do not
think I have changed any settings but there is no audio when downloading now.
Any suggestions?

It's normal not to hear the audio on the computer as you capture it from the
camcorder

For any more comments, tell us if you're using an analog or digital
camcorder (model number), and how are you connecting it to your computer
(firewire or analog capture device).
