    - Movie Maker file formats, Video CD I need some information about the file formats of published movies from Windows Movie maker. I made a home movie using movie maker that I am sending overseas to my family I would like to make video CD that can play in conventional video CD player they have Movie maker published the movie on cd with WMV extension. My dilemma is I am not sure if this file will work on standard CD player. I am not sure what to do 1. Should I convert the file format a. if yes whatâ??s the best software to do that b. and what are the most common file format thatâ??s readable on regular cd players ( I am guessing mpeg, avi are the common one) 2. the other question that I have is how can I make regular video CD from the published movie files. Iâ??ve noticed that movie Maker save it as a file on cd. I am not sure if that file would be picked up by the cd player Back home they have limited resources and have no knowledge of technology. I just want this cd to be ready so all they have to do is put disk in the player sit back and enjoy. Any suggestion or solution is highly appreciated. Thank a lot!     - Transitions are gone I've been a little busy so I havn't been able to get to this until now. About four months ago I recieved some automatic updates and the next time I went in to work on some video all of my transition effects were gone. I still have the time effects, credits and titles and all the other stuff is working fine but I can't put in any of the fades and such. I actually use WMM for short documentary pieces and it works fairly well for most things so I really need to keep my transistion effects for this work.     - Split clips won't play This problem has been driving me crazy. When I split a WMV clip, it will no longer play. When I recombine the clips, everything is fine again.     - How To Choose The Right Sunless Tanning Product Sunless tanning products come in several forms. The efficacy and results of these methods vary. Prices also vary. Treatments can cost anywhere from just a few dollars for a sunless tanning cream, to as much as $100 an hour for a few sessions at a salon. With so many options for sunless tanning, it can be hard to decide which sunless tanning products are best. Most sunless tanning aids are harmless, but none will prevent the skin damage caused by the sun and UV radiation. Additional precautions will need to be taken to prevent sun damage. Furthermore, methods such as tanning beds and tanning pills are controversial and thought to be unsafe. The FDA, in fact, has not approved most tanning pills. Another facet of sunless tanning products is how long they last. Spray tans will last five to seven days, while tans from creams or powders will wash off quickly. There are three types of ultraviolet or UV radiation put out by the sun and by tanning beds and lamps: UVC, at 100 to 290 nm, UVB, at 290 to 320 nm, and UVA, at 320 to 400 nm. It is the UVA and UVB rays that are the most harmful to our skin. UVB is easier to protect against than UVA, but both cause very real damage. Going sunless does not guarantee against skin damage from UV radiation. Another determining factor for which sunless tanning products will work for an individual is skin type. Not only will bronzers and cream and sprays give differing results for fair or darker skin, but fair- skinned people are more susceptible to burning when using sunless tanning means such as tanning beds or tanning lamps. The melanin produced by people with fairer skin, particularly redheads, does not absorb radiation as well as that produced by less fair skinned people, leaving these individuals more susceptible to sun damage. Perhaps you want a suntanned look for just one occasion such as an evening out. Maybe you want something with more even coverage and a longer life.     - Vista Business and Movie Maker Can anyone help me unravel this puzzle please? I have just upgraded to Vista Business to discover - to my horror- no Movie Maker ! I upgraded XP Pro and have highly compatible hardware (quad board, 2 Gig, NVidia card etc). However I do have WMM icon but get "General access denied" error when I click it. I tried downloading WMM 2.6 from Microsoft and whilst it installs OK, I get same "General access denied" error. This discounts vid-card issues for me. Searching on "General access denied" gets me nowhere as it ends up with lots of posts asking similar question to mine. So...... is there an MVP or someone of an inquisitive and successful nature that has any ideas.......? .... or does this remain on Mr. Softy's list of things to do another day?     - Capture uses all disk space Movie Maker About dialog shows: Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254 : Service Pack 2) Version 2.1.4026.0 I've been using Movie Maker to direct capture our band's practice sessions via firewire from a Sony DV camcorder. That way I didn't have to worry about whether the tape ran out and didn't have to spend hours the next day capturing from the camcorder. The first couple of times it worked great. I ended up with 2-3 hours of captured video and audio in a 1-2GB file. Then it was easy to split up the file, take out the chatter between songs and have some high quality WMVs to post on MySpace so we could review and critique. But the last two sessions (Jan 22 and 31), the capture stopped due to lack of space. Previously the 8-9GB of free space was more than enough to capture the whole practice session, with lots of room to spare. The last session I only got about 1.5 hours (final file was less than 700MB), but the TMP files used the whole 9GB of available space. Anyone else run into this and, more importantly, find a solution? I could continue to free up space on my laptop but it seems that something else is going on. TIA for any help on this.     - saving to a thumb drive I am working on a project with one of my students and have used my thumb drive to upload pictures and music because the work we do does not save at school on his file. My quesiton is this, when I open the file why is it that the pictures I have imported show up as "X"'s when I open them at home? I have the pictures saved in MY PICTURES as well as the video saved in MY VIDEOS. I read the other posts about getting the music to run and will try your suggestions.     - Windows Movie Maker is totaly.... I filmed loads of clips whit a program named HyperCam2 and it was saved as videoclip files or somting. When i edit them in the WMM by making them shorter when clipping them or making them shorter in the begining by dragging them to the right, they turn black!     - Preview of Uploaded vids won't play... I purchased a new Inspiron 530 w/Windows XP. I us WMM for creating fanvids and such.     - Transition Help I just tried using WMM today. I put a 15 sec. clip (.avi) in it just to test, and see what it would do. However, I could not get the transitions to work. I would always get the little black circle with a line through it every time I tried to drag a transition down. Do you need more that one clip, and lengths of longer than 15 sec. for it to work?     - Not Uploading to YOUTUBE I made a movie about 5 1/2 minutes in WMM, it blended music, downloaded clips and a photostory. I tried to Upload to YOUTUBE, but it said it failed because the format isnt supported. Ive read that it CAN upload to you tube with some tweaks, and that it cant without a lot of riggamaroll and even read a post that hes never had a video rejected. I also read about saving to DV-AVI but all that did was save the clips at the beginning, no photostory or muic. What is the way to upload a WMM movie to YOUTUBE.     - playing sound in finished movie with MovieMaker Having serious issues with this software! It all LOOKS good but is totally non-functional! A) Why does the MP3 file I have as the entire background music NOT play at all in the finished movie? Also it will only play in the draft version when I actually click the timeline...it appears to be playing when I click play in the sample screen, but still NO music. B) Is there anyway to quit having to re-create the D--- thing everytime I transfer the finished product...that SUCKS!!!!!!!!!! If it is a movie maker then the movies should play in any compatible device i.e. computer, DVD player, etc. It loses everything except the end and beginning credits/titles.     - Problems - Tried the Fixes on PapaJohn and nothing. I have several problems with Windows Movie Maker. I have a Sony HDD camcorder and downloaded several clips. I want to edit one of them. I can import the file into moviemaker, but there are a few issues. 1. On the screen to the right, where it appears you should be able to play the clip, there is no video. While messing with the codec option, I was able to get audio to play at one point, but never video, and I haven't been able to get the audio back. 2. When I try to drag the clip down to the storyline at the bottom, the program just up and crashes, no error message really, just the typical "has encountered a problem with" pop up. Any help?     - Power Breakdown while recording The movie I was recoding with my webcam in movie maker ended unexpectedly after 30 minutes of recoding due to power failure. Now it shows its size as 70MB but does not play in windows media player, movie maker or any other program. Pls guide me what to do about it.     - WMM is stretching my output I am making a movie from a group of stills, each of which is 4:3. I chose the output settings of NTSC and 4:3 aspect ratio. The images look exactly as they should in the preview pane. However, when I play the movie in WMP the images are being stretched horizontally â?? Iâ??m guessing to about 3:2. I have tried a number of variations, and I have looked back for other responses on this problem. Nothing has worked so far. I have windows xp installed on my computer......it was installed on my computer when purchased and I don't have dics to install it. I can use the restore function but that would wipe out a lot of stuff that would need to be reloaded .     - Movie Maker - Blank Black Screen Hi - I've used movie maker many times on my old PC - But now I have an all singing and all dancing vista bit of kit it wont work. I can import clips from the PC or the camera and they appear as they should on the left. I can drag and drop them to the movie bar at the bottom and they still look good - But I notice that the preview pain is a blank black screen - The clips when played give a tiny piece of audio at the start but the preview pain remains blank and black.     - importing quicktime videos to movie maker? i imported video clips to movie maker and they worked perfectly. i tried importing clips that i recorded from my camera and they dont show up. the difference between the clips is the ones that worked had a windows media player symbol, and the clips from my camera are quicktime videos. thats just they way they upload. i made sure the vids still worked, and i even switched them to different folders, but when i click import video, and go to the folder theyre in, they dont show up...the ones with the windows media player symbol show up though...so!?     - Frozen Storyboard. V5.1 I'm using Movie Maker version 5.1, and can successfully get photos onto the storyboard etc. But when I try to run the storybaord the message on the video screen is permanently set at "stopped". Nothing releases it. Trying to get out of this only leads to the video screen showing parts of other applications (help screen etc).     - Movie maker 2.1 Hi I have tried to download movie maker 2.1 (I seem to have 2.0) from Microsoft, but I get into a loop where I can only download it with XP pro SP2. I am already running XP pro SP2, so M/S will not let me download it, so I tried to reload SP2, and all attendant files from the original CD and running SFC /SCANNOW. Divx 6.8 and Cinepak imported to MM6 but showed as black video in the collection preview h.. Microsoft Video 1 played upside down i.. Microsoft MPEG4-V1 and V3 went to the timeline but rendered to blackness j.. Microsoft MPEG4-V2 rendered OK by itself, but to blackness when mixed on the timeline with other type clips k.. Helix 1420 YUV rendered to cartoonish colors... kind of neat for a special effect. How well do video files made by VirtualDub in Vista work in XP's MM2.1?     - Movie Maker 2 reinstall My XP Movie Maker 2.1 will no longer run. When it starts an error screen comes on from Microsoft and states it has to shut down the program. There is an debug option but this does no good. I have the sp2 disk in which the program is suppose to be, but after reviewing the disk, I do not see it.     - PC crashes whilst capturing DV tape as DV-AVI file My 7 year old 1.47GHz AMD Athlon XP SP2, 1GB RAM PC crashes whilst Movie Maker (version 2.1.4026.0) attempts to capture a 1 hour DV tape from a Sony camcorder via FireWire cable to the 320GB secondary internal hard disk (F:), as a DV-AVI file. AVG software ensures the PC is free of viruses and spyware. I have Ccleaned, error-checked and defragmented both primary FAT32 C: and secondary NTFS F: hard disks. Both hard disks have more than 75% free space. However, Microsoft\Movie Maker\MEDIATAB0.DAT is 11 fragments. Before capturing, the screen saver is disabled, System Tray applications (including AVG anti virus software and ZoneAlarm firewall) are closed / exited and Task Manager shows System Idle Process is approximately 95% of CPU. We have 5, 1 hour, DV tapes and I have successfully captured 4, each to approximately 12GB .avi files. But the 4 successes were from 9 attempts and all 5 failures crashed the PC leaving a corrupt 3 to 8GB avi file. Iâ??ve unsuccessfully attempted to capture the fifth tape 6 times now and the PC has crashed every time. Can you help? Thanks in anticipation, Steve London. to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application.
The error window pops up twice.
I have tried uninstalling IE7 and I tried manually installing the MovieMaker
2.1 system files (the executable file apparently did not register correctly
which I do not know how to fix.) all to no avail.
I would appreciate any assistance.
