    - Backing up collection I'm trying to back up my collection befor re-installing Movie Maker due to it is trying to save to a cd when I click save to comp, and I used Papa John's site to try and do this task, but for some reason my computer does not have the Movie Maker file in same location the site gives. I did a search and found the folder but no files have the same name or a similar name to the collection file given, or the same file extension. How do I find my collection?     - .mpg Import Problems Please help - I am going insane..... I am trying to import .mpg files (which were recorded and imported to my PC from a Sony HDD DCR Handycam....     - Moviemaker fucking sucks - Use VirtualDub Yeah. let's see... it hates jpegs, mpegs, mjpegs... crashes at will from standard well known video capture devices, so yes. Why did MS even bother? Honest question. The WMV format is about where QT was eight years ago. Thanks MS. I just spent an horu capturing video from an analog source, I hit stop, and poof. Gone. Never even got the chance to import into the timeline - which they copied from Ulead by the way. This reminds me of that Imager from WIndows 95, it couldn't open anything.     - Green, distorted video capture This past August, BillGatesIdolNot posted the problem below. I have the EXACT same problem since installing the PIXMA 170. BillGatesIdolNot or anyone ... is there a resolution for this? BTW - Canon support claimed it was not possible for their installation to have caused this problem. Since installing a Canon PIXMA MP170 printer/scanner, when I try to capture video through S-VIDEO on my ATI card from an analog camcorder, the video is 90% distorted in green ... though you can see faint images of movement within.     - From DV Video tape to Photo Story Here's a link to a pilot concept test.... to see what you get if you take a frame grab every 5 seconds from a widescreen camcorder video file, batch distort the images with IrfanView so Photo Story 3 will re-distort them when rendering the video to a widescreen format, render the story with a custom high definiition profile of 1280x720 pixels, and then put it on the mydeo streaming service. There was absolutely no editing done... the audio has it's snaps, crackles and pops... PS3 was allowed to use it's default settings of 5 seconds per pix, with dissolve transitions between each, and whatever panning/zooming it decided. http://www.mydeo.com/videorequest.asp?XID=43807&CID=60378 167 frames of the 14 minute camcorder clip, combined with the actual audio, is what you see in this pilot video.... I put it out at this point in it's raw state to show that the process has merit... it's an easy cookie-cutter process it get it from the camcorder tape to this point.     - WMV Files Won't Import Into MM1, But Do In MM2 I have several video clips in the WMV format. They import perfectly into MovieMaker2. When I try to import them into MovieMaker1, I get an error message, "This file cannot be imported. Make sure that it is a valid file type.........." Am I missing a program file for MM 1?     - Video stopping Hello. I'm trying to capture a video from my Sony Camcorder (TRV27E), and I can't seem to get it right. It plays in the "Preview" window for about 1:30 and the video just freezes. It just completely stops. The sound still goes on. Anyone know what I can do? Is there any other program that can help me?     - Coordinating photos with exact place in music I am using WMM to make a movie (have made several) but this time I would like to coordinate photos (not film) with exact seconds in the music that will be playing in the background. Does anyone have any easy tips to do this? I have "zoomed" in but find "pulling" the edge of the photos very tedious and not exacting. Would appreciate any help.     - Pinnacle Dazzle Video Creator Platinum vs. Windows Movie Maker 2 I recently loaded Pinnacle's Dazzle Video Creator Platinum onto my PC that has the Microsoft XP Media Center operating system on it, which includes Windows Movie Maker 2. With the Pinnacle/Dazzle hardware and built-in software package, I can hook my analog VCR to my PC and do a direct analog to digital transfer of VHS tapes onto my PC. Then I can edit with the software program that came with Dazzle Video Creator Platinum. I was hoping I would also be able to use Movie Maker 2 with the Pinnacle/Dazzle hardware to capture and edit video if I chose to. When I try to "capture video" from my VCR using Windows Movie Maker 2 then I get an error message telling me that "The device is not responding. Close any other application that is using the device and try capturing again." I can use the Dazzle software to transfer and edit, but Windows Movie Maker 2 has some functions that I like and I was hoping it would recognize my VCR via the Pinnacle/Dazzle hardware hook-up. My emails to Pinnacle have gotten me nothing but dumb or brush- off responses, so I think I have asked them something beyond their technical knowledge of their own product. Maybe Windows Movie Maker 2 is not technically advanced enough yet to recognize and handle another analog-digital transfer device? But I guess I want somebody with a lot more experience than mine to give me that bad news. Unless I ask, then I will never know if there is an answer out there. Thanks for any responses.     - Audio not playing I'm making a music video and I'm having issues with the audio. I have imported an .mp3 file which works fine on windows media player, however when loaded into windows movie maker, the sound is muted. When playing back my video, the sound is mute, and is shown as mute on the audio/music bar. However when you move the seek bar a little bit forward or back, the audio begins to play.     - Making clips When I capture from my digital movie camera and ask it to make clips it never does this.     - Preview Doesn't Work with any files? Anyone seen this behavior? With MM 2.1xxx, the preview doesn't work at all -- buttons are grayed out on the player -- and it's impossible to save a movie, though I can drag a clip to the storyboard. The software claims that the file is no longer at the same location, or some such nonsense. Here's what's odd. I kep the older movie maker, and it opens/saves these clips just fine. I would like to use MM 2.1xxx, however, for the greater number of effects. These clips also open just fine in WMP 10 and other programs. (This behavior applies to straight avi files taken from typical digital cameras, as well as WMVs previously made with windows MM2. Unfortunately, getting to a restore point really isn't possible. I install and uninstall a lot of software... Running XP pro, SP2 etc. I've reinstalled MM2 by the familiar method of locating the moviemk.inf file in the system folder, right clicking, hitting install, and directing the install to the movie maker expandable in a folder of sp2 stuff I've got on the HD.     - Saved Video with Errors --- Video Stops during playback I have a problem similar to Betsy a few days ago. My daughter created a complex Christmas video project for her friends with lots of pictures and video clips. The Saving Movie process completes without error. However, the rendered video file is screwed up at different points every time I create the file for DVD (or other formats). The music track continues to play, but the video stops at a frame and goes not further. The video file appears to be funked up...If I move the slider further to the right during playback, it bounces back to the point where the video locked up.     - Poor Music Quality I've put together a relatively simple slide presentation and put it to music. The quality of the audio is great in the project mode. But when saved as an AVI file (for transfer to a DVD later), the music gets "choppy." There are momentary (1/10 second) breaks throughout the video. Very frustrating. Any thoughts? Funeral is at the end of the week and I've been working on this for a month. It hasn't been until trying to save as an AVI file that I've run into this problem. Thank you in advance.     - Controlling the audio level I have a very simple project that consists of just some captured video from my DV camcorder (captured via WMM into a WMV at 2.1 Mbps) but trying to control the audio level is just driving me nuts. If I use headphones to listen to the audio everything works great (sound quality is high and volume is high). But if I pull out the headphones and listen to the audio on the PC speakers the audio is barely audible (sound quality is poor and volume very low). I thought perhaps the problem was the PC speakers but they handle other sound just fine, in fact when I add an MP3 to the Audio/Music track on the timeline the MP3 plays just fine on the PC speakers. I've been playing with the audio level slider control any which way I can think of but I can't get it to fix the problem. However, the most frustrating part is that every now and then (say 1 in 20 attempts), pulling the audio levels slider all the way to the "Audio from video" side actually fixes the problem and the sound I want comes out of my PC speakers. But I can't figure out what it is that makes it work on those rare occasions and I can't seem to save that result for future use. Since I have heard the sound I want from the PC speakers, it makes me think the speakers work and that there is just something about controlling the audio level of the WMV file that I don't understand.     - Detecting DV video camera connected to Firewire When I connect my Sony Camcorder (DCR-PC100) to the Firewire port on my ASUS P5W DH Deluxe motherboard the Camcorder doesn't seem to be detected, i.e when I select Capture from video device in Movie Maker I get the error message that "a video capture device was not detected. I need some ideas on how to trouble shoot this. The Firewire cable is connected correctly. The Camcorder is turned on to "VTR" mode. The device driver for the TI IEEE 1394 host controller is enabled and running. I'm running Windows XP Service Pack 2. When I plug in the Firewire cable the OS does not prompt a message indicating new hardware found.     - Installed SP2 and don't have WMM 2.1! I installed SP2 quite a while ago, and didn't get 2.1. I didn't really notice until some of my friends were talking about it, and it dawned upon me that I didn't have it.     - Firewire card query Hello everyone, this is my first posting here. I am new to this! My new year's resolution is to transfer video footage from out digital camcorder so it can be played on pc or dvd. I expect I'll be posting here again ! Anyway, so in preparation I've read the last 2 weeks of postings in this group and the manual for our JVC GR-DV707 and ordered (we live in the middle of nowhere) the correct firewire cable for it. So far so good :) but on the papajohn site it says I also need to buy and install a firewire card for my computer if it didn't come with one. How do I know if I've got one already or not ? Where do I look ?     - Capture video device is not detected Hi all, I am trying to capture video in WMM from a digital camera using RCA analog inputs (I have WMC). After hooking the camera up and turning it on to the correct setting, I get the "capture video device not detected" error message. I have also tried to connect a helmet cam that I have which has the RCA jacks. Nothing. Now, I did find out that when I use Sony "Click 2 DVD" sofware that I have to disable all eh settings in the applications that are running to get the softward to recognize the analog source (otherwise, I guess it defaults to the TV tuner, and doesn't want to recognize anything else?). This does not work either. And suggestions.? PS. The goal is not to transer digital video using analog to WMM. I want to connect a camera to it overlooking my front door so I can monitor/record activity in the front of my house while I am working in my office (in the back of the house).     - Capturing Aspect Ratio Problem When capturing video from the video in of an ATI Radeon X600, the aspect ratio using the best quality setting is screwed up. It used to capture at 720x480, and now it captures at 720x240. The preview screen looks fine during the capture, but when the video is played (independently with MP or on a timeline) it is skrunched to a narrow screen. I've seen where other posters have reported problems with MM after installing IE7 and/or WMP11, and I've loaded both since this problem started.     - Video pauses during playback When playing back captured video from my camcorder, about every 3 seconds or so the video freezes for a split second. The sound is fine.     - wmm error i noticed in another post that someone uninstalled thier intervideo creator which caused wmm to then work. i use that program also and never had any trouble with it. from the dates of these posts, it seems that this trouble is happening for everyone around the same time. i think it MUST have something to do with a recent update. another person said they renamed the HKCU? how the heck does one do that? i'd like to try that since i also use my intervideo creator a lot and don't want to lose that either.     - Add a clip I am making a video of football clips for my brother. I got the video from old VHS tapes using a VCR going directly to the back of the computer, recorded it with media center, burned it to DVD and Imported it to MM from the file the computer created. My problem is that I was having so many problems with MM shutting down, freezing up, getting errors ect. I went ahead and created a DVD because I was afraid of loosing what I had already made. I have a 2 minute clip that I want to put on the end of the already existing movie and this nightmare will be over. The 2 min clip came from a Sony viewcam 8 that I went through the VCR and created the same way as the other clips. Sorry for getting long winded, I can see the vid in my folders but when I click import it is not in any of the folders? What am I doing wrong?     - Problem burning DVD Hello, I am a beginner and have captured my first video from my camera using MovieMaker. I have edited it and saved the movie as high quality video. I want to burn it onto CD using MyDVD. When I select the movie my computer tries to configure Sonic MyDVD and I get an error message "Another application has exclusive access to the file c:\program files\Sonic\MyDVD\sonic log" Any ideas? and apologies if I am missing something obvious! I have an older VHS-C camcorder and am trying to capture video and audio
through the composite RCA connections on the PC. I am able to get the video
with no problem, but the audio is not coming through. I have even tried to
capture from the TV tuner built into the PC and get no sound. What am I doing
wrong?
