    - Sony Hi8 Handycam movies won't download I have an older Sony Hi8 camcorder that only has composite RCA and S video outputs. My older Sony Vio computer has composite RCA and S video inputs. I can view my movies through the computer as a T.V. input so I know that the computer can detect and read the camcorder signals. For some reason, movie maker does not recognize that my camcorder is plugged into the computer and I just get the message, no capture device detected. I have tried everything I know.     - Movie Maker did not work! I had someone who scanned about 100 pictures for me on their movie maker. She burned to DVD and nothing happened. She E-mailed them to me and they came up with red Xs. I was able to get it to my hard drive, but unable to edit it. I went out and bought a new computer and had my old files put on the new computer.     - Blurry pictures and texts on the storyboard and avi file I imported my pictures to the collection pane. When I look at them using the viewer, they look sharp and no blurriness. However, when I drag the pictures to storyboard and play the video, they are blurry. I also created dv-avi file, and the quality of pictures are as bad as the ones that I saw on storyboard. Could someone explain how I can fix this problem? The size of pictures are 720x540 and 640x480. I saved the pictures with BMP.     - capturing from a panasonic nv-gs120 Hi, I am using windows xp sp2 version, on a compaq laptop and am unable to capture video from my panasonic nv-gs120. The computer recognises the camera, i.e it pings when it is plugged in, and the version of MMV is 2.1.4026.0 When i start MMV and hit capture it comes with with the usual wizard box and shows the panasonic as the dv camera, however after i continue on through the wizard, choose the file name for the download and go on, it comes up with the following message "the video device cannot be used at this time because there has been an error when starting the device" I am using a dv cable direct from the camera to the laptop. What is driving me crazy is that when i use another program, i.e muvee autoproducer 4.5 it has absolutley no problem detecting and downloading the video from this camera. I also have a desktop, a dell running xp professional, and MMV on that computer has no problems at all downloading from the panasonic.     - When I play back my movie I find that it has doubled. When I created my movie I added a title and some ending credits.     - Still Image Hi. I am trying to create a movie that can be played on TV screen (DVD format). I am currently working on creating still images. Do I have to consider tv screen safety area (about 10 percent from the edge of pictures) when I create still images?     - photostory 3 quality using movie maker? I have made many photostory3 projects using high quality images. I save them at the highest quality setting to the WMV format. As i'm sure you are all aware, this does not allow me to play these files on macs, as the codec is not available. I was told and read many websites about important my photostory3 project into moviemaker and then resaving it. I have done this 3 times, each selecting different formats (DV-AVI, high quality WMV, VBR WMV). Some of these have taken 12 hours to save (the DV-AVI was 8gigs). But none had the same quality as the photostory saved WMV. In fact, I was very dissapointed with the poor quality of the MM2 saved file.     - Trying to copy from pc > CD to play on normal player I recently created a movie file in both moviemaker & photostory. Both files play fine on the pc. Had trouble putting them on DVD. Was able to copy them both to CD. Again on the pc both files are fine. But how do I get them to play on a regular CD/DVD player? My DVD player just comes up w/msg Data disc, then nothing.     - Suggestion for duration of fade? Does anybody have a good time for a nice looking transition (fade) between clips? I was thinking around 48sec - 0.64sec or am I way off. I am new to this.     - Vista Movie Maker doesn't want to run due to the graphic card Hello, I have a Matrox Parhelia AVPe card and Vista's Movie Maker refuses to run, saying the card is not good enough (lacks hardware acceleration I think).     - Quality of video is very poor Can someone tell me why the quality of the photos in a WMM video I made are so poor? The original photos are of very good quality (2048 x 1536 - 24 bit) and were taken with a digital camera. I found working with the program a lot of fun, but was very disappointed with the photos. My husband spent over 200 hours creating a windows movie maker production of our son's summer traveling with his basketball team. The production is 26 minutes long and contains photos, video footage, transitions, text overlays and music. When we go to save it, it says the file size is too large.     - MM2 will not play clips. I imported a camcorder moving into MM. I can view the clips in the middle section of the display but when I select a clip the majority of clips will not play in the preview pane. I click play and nothing happens at first, then the audio will play but the video remains frozen. A few clips play correctly. When I first starting using the problem this was not a problem but I can't tie the beginning of the problem to any changes made to my system.     - frozen playback from storyboard I have Vista Ultimate, major problem with MM. I have recurring problem playing clips from the storyboard/timeline. I can play imported clips with no problem, can split them and move to storyboard, can even play them back on the black screen. But once I save project and leave MM, then return at a later time, I can't play them back on the black screen. I have lost hours of work. I tried starting the project all over again, works fine until I stop, save, and return later. Frozen out. I am a novice to MM, want help explained in a simple, easy to understand and follow way.     - Moviemaker Saving Moviemaker stops saving when the file it is saving gets to be 288,644K in size, and I get the "cannot save to this location" message. 288,644K is the size of the (unredadable) .wmv file fragment that it saves before hanging. So I infer that MM thinks there is only that much storage available. There is actually over 100gig avaiable on the disc. Any help with a fix?     - Help - No audio when capturing from camcorder Hey everyone. I am hoping someone can help me figure out what I am doing wrong. I used the cable that came with my camera and connected to the computer via the yellow video and white audio inputs, and I am able to obtain the video but there is no audio. I then tried it using an S-video cable, and the same results. Why is the audio not coming thru? I hear it on the playbakck from my camcorder, but not from the computer.     - I get mpg file is empty file when importing video My Noikon saves videos in MOV format, which is NOT supported by Windows Movie Maker {BUT SHOULD BE!}, so I have converted the files to MPG files, but when I try to import any of the converted videos WMM pops up with a window that says: The file D:\Cat Video from Nikon Camera\Silent Conversions\Close Up Face Shots.mpg is an empty file. But I can LOAD every one of these "EMPTY FILES" into any other prgram that plays MPG files and they play fine. So the files ARE NOT EMPTY! So how can I make WMM import these video clips? And why is it telling me they are "EMPTY FILES" when, in fact, THEY ARE NOT!??? Any help here would be very much appreciated it. I like the program and it works great for still photo's, but I want to be able to create some movies from several video clips I can put together. I have tried both importing them one at a time as well as a multi-import, each time WMM tells me the file(s) is(are) "empty", I am using the most current version 2.1 of WMM. I just don't understand how the software determines wether a file is empty, especially since NOT A ONE of the files I have tried to import are empty, the video is there, anyone know what is going on with this? Oh, the videos have also been resized (camera takes them in 640x480 DVD MOV format) to 320x240 MPG format.     - Help! I have spent the last week trying to get Window Movie Maker to work on my computer. I have talked with HP support for approx 15 hours trying to get it to work. Their support system is in India so it is really hard to understand them. I have a Windows XP Media Edition and WMM was on my computer when I bought it 2 years ago. I just tried to use it last week so hence the problem. HP had me uninstall it and then sent me to a microsoft web page to download. There was no option to download from there so I found it at another sight. I downloaded it again and I still get the error message and my options are to debug or close. HP said it was a Microsoft problem so I emailed them and they said it was an operating systems problemand to contact HP????? Apparently, my problem is no one else's problem.     - loss of quality after adding transitions and effects I am using a Sony Hard Disk Drive camcorder. After adding transitions, effects and titles and burning a DVD with Movie Maker, the total size of the DVD is 20% smaller than when I use Sony's Imagemixer software to burn a DVD without editing.     - Wide screen not maintained Running XP Pro with Movie Maker 2.1.4026 Downloaded wide-screen HD clips. Opened movie maker and dragged and dropped clips to the storyboard. Went to tasks > Finish movie > save to my computer and named movie and best quality and next. Took a while but the end result was not in wide-screen nor HD.     - Video Device currently in use - XP Media Center edition Hi, This is probably a FAQ, but I can't find an answer. One solution I did find was to disable "Media Center Receiver Service" = in services.msc. That did not work. So, I disabled the others; "Media Center Extender Service" and "Media = Center Sheduler Service". Still nothing. I rebooted each time. Still nothing. What else is there to disable? Ihave been unable to find a way to add music to old silent 8 mm movies that I
transfered to DVD using the new Sony DVD-VR30. I have been able to copy
them on my hard drive but where do I go from here? I am hoping to use Movie
Maker on my Windows XP. Roxio My DVD is installed on my computer but
whenever I try to do something with that it says there is a problem and MSN
has to shut down. Any help any of you can give me will be greatly
