Personally I hate XP, I think it's crap ;-)
Did you have chance to review the steps for your version of Vista on
the XBox site

It'd be interesting to know which step it fails at.
It could be *specifically* because your PC is in the DMZ though - that
effectively puts it on the Internet side of your router. And WMP can't
share across the internet (as it would see it) so that would do the
job.
I'm guessing you recently configured it in the DMZ for gaming on the
PC - you should really setup the windows firewall and router to allow
the game traffic to pass, and put the PC back inside the private
network side of your router.
