It just complains that either some file is in use (?) or that permission
was denied (for what?).

Sorry. WMP 11, not 10. I have checked the firewall (ZoneAlarm Free)
and tried rebooting. Neither helped.

Why hasn't someone responded?

It turns out that WMP was still considering My Documents\My Music to be
the location to rip to. That was incorrect. Should have been Q:\Songs.
Since most media players like to dump junk into My Documents\My Music
with every upgrade, I lock that folder down. (Besides, Q:\ is shared
amongst all users.) However, I didn't know that WMP was still
attempting to rip to there.

You're on your own with non-conforming set-ups.
I play by the rules most of the time.

Is Q on some mapped drive? If that drive disappears, the Rip location would
probably revert since it wouldn't be accessible.
