Hi ,
With the x64 version of windows media player 11 it has files in both
Syswow64 and System32 and is listed under programs files x86. I am assuming
that it is actually 32bit WMP optimised or tweaked in some way for XP x64
....therefore I should install 32bit video codecs. Is this correct?

And if posssible can anybody recommend DVD player software that runs well on
XP
x64.

Many thanks

Mark

Try windows or microsoft update, locate the "use administrator settings" open
windows update catalog, try typing in Windows XP x64 Codecs As far as dvd
software, purchase a ATI video card & the dvd software is free with it.

Thanks for the suggestion but could not find anything in relation to x64
Codecs in Windows Update catalog. Looking under DirectX Sys.Info, audio and
video codecs reside in C:/Windows/System 32. Does that mean they are in fact
64Bit codecs?

As for buying a new graphics card just for free DVD software...that would be
nice!

Everything on XP 64bit is probably going to be 32bit no matter what. Only
Vista 64bit really gets you a 64bit experience (and that's partially off by
default since third parties... such as codec manufacturers... are still
getting caught up).
