I believe Vista uses only WMP 11 and can not use a lower version.
However, you can easily check. Open the WMP and find the help tab near
the top of the page. Click "help" and select "about" from the drop
down. It will give you the version number which should be 11, at least
until the next upgrade which likely would be numbered 12.
