 - WMP11 on XP Pro won't shut down If viewing a short video, or closing WMP on longer video, either from a local hard drive or from a web site, the WMP window will close, but using task manager, the process "wmplayer" continues to run for about 10 seconds. This happens on both my home system and my work system, which have significantly different hardware and drivers. Until "wmplayer" process terminates on it's own, or until I terminate it via task manager's end process, I can't run WMP. Tag: windows media player Tag: 262696

 - Keystroke info needed Last night I had a movie previewing in WMP, and I was able to use 'spacebar' to stop/start the movie. I also used 'alt' + (left or right) 'arrow' to scroll frames. Today I can't find the options listed anywhere,and the keystokes do nothing. Truthfully, I'm not sure I was using WMP, but it would be great if someone knows the keys for these 3 functions.  - Problems with CBS Mega March Madness on Demand I am a subscriber to Mega March Madness on Demand, the online service on which you can all the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship games on your computer. Unfortunately, I have been unable to watch any games online because of a recurring error. I open up the player and select a program. Then, I see a commercial (which makes it possible for CBS and the NCAA to offer it for free). This is followed by the dreaded message which begins "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Then I am asked to send an error report. I have sent out five of them since Tuesday and still the problem persists. I have turned off pop-up blockers, run an antivirus program, downloaded a Mozilla Firefox patch, and even downloaded the latest player, WMP 11. But none of it has worked.  - Organizing albums by year in "Song" view (WMP11 - Vista x64) Before I upgraded to Vista, the "Song" view would organize my albums by artist, and then by year, meaning that an artist's repertoire was chronological.  - Can I make WMP 11 do these things? An old version of WMP - I think it was 9 - had a feature which would connect to a website (maybe it was music.com, but my memory isn't improving with age) and show various pieces of album information about the mp3 one was listening to, including when it was recorded, who played on the record, a review which gave some history and such about the record. This was great stuff for an old jazz fart like me, and I loved having it be the default view. Is there any way to make WMP 11 do that, instead of showing those goddam record stores? Also, can I make it show my library in a plain old Explorer style list or details view file tree, not the WMP folder view with the alphabetical headings and all that other clutter? My collection is almost 50 GBs, and browsing it via any of the views which are native to WMP, quite frankly, sucks.  - Play One Song And Quit I'm just switching from Winamp to Media Player. Is there a way to have several songs in the "Now Playing" area and force Media Player to play one song and then quit until the next song in the list is manually selected? I use the player for line dancing and like to have a playlist of all the songs I'll use for the evening but have it play one song and then quit until I'm ready for the next song.  - Click Event Issue while Medias Media Player 11 is running in full Dear All, Below is the business scenario: We have developed an Application that will run over ATM/Kiosk. This application when goes into Idle mode display a movie. We are using Windows Media Player 11 for rendering movie. The issue is that the movie needs to be renderd over full screen mode. We have successfully done that but the issue is we are not able to receive any events (specially click/Touch) while player run on full screen mode. How can we control that?  - playing media from smartphone in media player I have a AT&T Smartphone and I have all my music sync'ed from my WM Library. Most of my music in my library is stored on a network drive at my house and when I am at work I can not access that music in WMP. However I do have all my music on my Smartphone so when I connect my smartphone to my PC is there a way to play the music that is stored on the Smartphone through my WMP on my PC? I was able to do this with my creative Zen and the software that came with it to play music directly from that Zen, but I couldn't do it using WMP, I had to use the ZEN software.  - cant play videos Please help. I using windows XP and have mediaplayer 11 installed. It works fine with music, but everytime I try to play a video, it stops on the first frame. The sound keeps going in the background, but the video is frozen. When I try to exit WMP, it tells me it is not responding, and when I close the player, it frezes my computer completely.  - A bug Adding audio files to the library ? I add Economist Audio files to the WMP 11 Library so I can sync them to my Sansa View. To get them into the Library I have to extract all the mp3 files from their individual section folders and put them together in one folder which I title "Economist". I have previously defined this folder as one to monitor in the "Add to Library" window. They get added to the Library this way but not as expected. When I place the cursor over each audio file in Windows Explorer, the information displayed is "Artist: The Economist", "Album Title: March 8th - March 14 2008", "Track Number: 1" [etc]. What WMP ends up with in the Library is as follows: Artist is each of the Sections ("01 Introduction", "05 Briefings", etc). Album is "March 8th - March 14 2008". Songs are each of the audio files eg. "10 Briefing - India's Civil Service". Genre is "Books". Contributing Artist is "The Economist". Actually WMP would be OK if the contents of "Artist" and "Contributing Artist" were switched. This seems like a bug because WMP has the correct info. I do not know how WMP extracts this info from the mp3 file but it should do it in the same fashion as Windows Explorer. It does not. Has anyone run into this problem? Is there a fix?  - High Process Level Hi, I've been having a problem lately with WMP. I'm running WMP11 on Windows XP SP2. Everytime I connect to the internet, after about 20 minutes of WMP running, my computer will start to lag. I checked the task manager, and WMP is running at 80-90%. This has been happening everytime I connect to the internet, I've tried it offline too, and nothing happens. I'm not using WMP for anything except for playing MP3s. Is there an update I need to download to fix this, or is something wrong with my settings (I haven't touched them since I installed it.)  - WMP 11 repeating songs when playing? I have most of my CD collection (over 200 CD's) ripped to a computer with WMP 11 installed. Most days I'll boot up the computer and drag "ALL SONGS" to the playlist and it will begin to play. I have the playlist shuffled and I do not have "REPEAT" checked so I would expect that I could theoretically go thru the whole collection without hearing the same song repeated, unless I happen to have two copies of the same song in the list or if I reboot the computer and have WMP start over. However, that doesn't seem to be the way it's working. Every day I know that I hear at least one song, and usually more, repeated and I know that they aren't a song that I have more than one copy of. Is there something that I don't understand about the way WMP works or is there a flaw in my WMP 11? BTW, I'm running WMP 11 on WIN XP on that computer.  - Dual Monitor WM11 reveresed I dunno what is up. I have a ATI card on a desktop and WM11. All of a sudden the video only on WM got reveresed. The full screen is going to Screen1 and the other to Screen2. This used to work fine. Powerpoint presentations still work properly which confirms to me the settings are right.  - IE 7 My friend has been using the "Guest" account on my Windows XP machine and managed to get some Dr. Watson error. It keep shutting down IE as soon as it open but only in the Guest account, IE is fine in my personal account. I managed to get rid of the Dr. Watson error, but the once you typed anything into the address bar in IE it would shut down immediately. This I have also cured by restting ie. However the one error I cannot get rid of and cannot find on google is the following message "An exception occurred while trying to "C:\Windows\system32\inetcpl.cpl,ClearMyTracksByProcess 4351 444 179".  - Adding the contents of just one folder to My Library I download the Economist Audio edition each week and put it in a folder. The contents of the folder and titles of the audio files change each week. I need to add it to the WMP library to sync with my Sansa View Player. I delete old version from the Library and add the new one. I have all the folders in Add to Library set to Ignore except two: the Rip type which cannot be set and one I use to load the weekly Economist Audio edition. When I click OK, WMP goes through all the folders in My Music and takes forever. There are also some songs I do not want added. Is there an easy way to just have the contents of one folder "added"?  - media player album info updating Sorry if this is old stuff, but I've searched the group via google... I last used media player a couple of years ago, on XP; don't remember which version. Now, using version 11.0.6000 on Vista, preinstalled on new computer. Anyway, my problem isn't as buggy as all the complaints about update album info I see in the group previously; but I remember that in the old version, when the info fetched from the iknternet was incorrect, youj could not onlyu correct it, but then upload it back to the database where maybe it got corrected for future users? anyway, the new one doesn't seem to have that. was that just a phony option, or was it too attractive for vandals, or what? as far as bugs, might as well check, but when i update the album info, i often have to paste the album cover onto the generic icon manually. could be worse, but if there's a fix... tia.  - H E L P ! wmv video stops mid-way in 60 sec video ?? WMP 9 & 11 on XP I have a little 60 sec video we made and rendered to wmv format. Plays fine on one computer... on another the video stops about half way through... sound keeps going... but video won't come back... even if we pause & restart... or pause, rewinde, then restart. This is on a windows XP machine running a 1.8 Ghz processor... (Dell) We had WMP 9 on it... had problem... then updated to WMP 11... rebooted, etc... deleted and recopied the video... still same problem.  - save sorting settings i am trying to sort my music library by year (both overall and within each artist) i have it to auto sort by year but for some reason the albums are all in reverse order (newest first and then going backwards through time) every time i try to correct this wmp just forgets about the change every time i change what i am looking at, and if i go back to an artist i have already changed it is back to how it was too. does anyone have any ideas?  - Anyone got the "Remotable WMP Player Wrapper for C#" example? Hi there, Hope someone can help me. I'm currently writing a client application in C# that needs to monitor the currently playing track in iTunes, WMP and Winamp. Got it all working fine, but i really hate the WMP solution. It involves a C++ WMP background plugin using a COM visible remoted .NET object to expose the controls interface. This means I need to deal with COM registration and firewall shenanigans, and causes issues when automatically updating the application... it works, but just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. So, to my point... I'm trying to figure out how to use the IWMPRemoteMediaServices interface so that I can get details on what is currently going on in the running WMP instance. Stumbled upon a post by Eric Gunnerson here (http://blogs.msdn.com/ericgu/archive/ 2005/06/22/431783.aspx) but unfortunately MS in their infinite wisdom have pulled gotdotnet; only migrating the very latest projects to the clunky code.msdn.com :( So, did anyone grab this project at the time and still have it knocking about on their harddisk?  - Can't restore my licenses I have bought music over the years from Walmart online and saved the licenses as well as the music downloads in folders on my hard drive. It all worked fine until I recently reformatted my computer and reinstalled Windows XP SP2. After reinstalling Windows I also copied the music folders and the license backups back to my new hard drive but now when I try to play the music Media player 11 can't download media access rights and won't play the music. Also, I can't figure out how to get it to restore my licenses from my backed up files. In Media player 9 there was a menu option for restoring licenses from local folders, but I see no options for this in Media player 11. Can anyone please advise on how to restore my licenses?  - When moving mouse WMP 9 shows buttons, I do not want that! 1. I play a movie in full screen mode. 2. I accidentally move the mouse 1 micron. 3. Then suddenly all those buttons are viewable and all kinds of menu's etcetera. I never asked for that! And I cannot change these settings. Does anybody know the solution for this? I downloaded windows media player to manage music for a new phone. I have an
Ipod that I use itunes for. Since downloading windows media player, I cannot
get itunes to be the default player, everything goes right to WMP. I cannot
find anything in WMP to shut it off, and when I tried to uninstall it, it
would not uninstall. What now?
