    - Won't Play Internet radio Broadcast Hello, For some reason my Media Player 11 (on Vista) will no longer play radios that i get from the internet. It keeps telling me that the protocol is not supported. I am attempting to connect to radio shows that i have listened to before and had no problem. I have checked to see if i there are an updates but there are none. I have checked to see if all the network connections are checked and they are.     - Streaming video in WMP11 and I.E. I am running Webguide on my Vista Home Premium computer at home. I have a Vista Ultimate laptop and a Vista Home Premium laptop. The Home Premium laptop can connect fine to my Web guide and stream videos either through IE 7 or WIMP. On my Ultimate laptop I recently have not been able to. When I try and stream video from it I get this error message in WIMP. "You've encountered error message C00D11B1 while using Windows Media Player" I get this message in IE when I try to stream through the browser, "Windows Media layer cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn, or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted." I am also having issues streaming video from other websites like chicagobears.com also. Like I said earlier I had this working fine awhile ago and I am not sure what has changed on this system..     - WMP gives no image, only sound on internet A few days ago I was surfing around the internet behind some proxies. I couldn't play flash files and it told me to download a new player. As stupid as I was I did, and tried to install it(filename: D51DF21F625EDC87BADC111992C51F2CD12DF0626150EF33BBCA282C8ACC095CD414EF636441EB70B3D51A2A47C51562). Nothing really happened so I though okay. But ever since then WMP is being weird. I can play movies from my HD and they work fine, but when I try to watch movies online I only get audio and no screen. I tried to deinstall wmp and reinstall it again, but this didn't work either.     - WMP 11 Vista Home Premium C00D11B1 issue I am getting this error when try to play WMV streaming files from zshare site. I am running Vista Home Premium and using WMP 11. "You've encountered error message C00D11B1 while using Windows Media Player." The WMP11 tool-->options-->DVD Advanced tab is disabled or greyed out for me.     - 2 Audio Streams on AVI File Playing at the same time in WMC Hello Gurus! I have a problem playing particular avi files that have 2 audio streams. Windows media player plays both at the same time and this results in two different voice overs at the same time english/mandarine! I can play the avi in VLC media player without the conflict. There must be a way of disabling the second audio stream in wmp....? I cannot use other media players because it is vista windows media center which doesn't seem to let anything else be the default video player (i could be wrong about that though).     - wmp11 wont recognize my zen v Works perfectly in wmp10. Upon upgrade get only MTP device with yellow question mark. Using xppro sp 2 latest firmware for zen is 1.32.01 Roll back to 10 and all ok, reinstall 11 and no go. Uninstall/reinstall in device manager as suggested in microsoft bulletin doesn't help.     - WMP10 won't play downloaded wmv files. I have WinXP Home Edition, SP2. If I receive a wmv file, through an email or skype for example, and try to play it by double-clicking the file I get the following error message: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. If the file is on another computer, verify that you are connected to the network. If you typed a path, verify that it is correct. If the problem persists, the server might not be available." If I save the file to my hard drive it plays fine in WMP10. In the past I tried changing the file association to one of several players I have and if I recall correctly the only one that worked at the time was VLC player. The others displayed an error message but not the same one as WMP. They too would play the file if it was saved to my computer. I prefer to use WMP for wmv files.     - WMP does not "sense" my burner When I try to use my WMP (latest version) to burn a disk, it gives me an error message. I says to attach a burner and try again. It did use to work, but somehow now it will not burn a disk. It does do "synch" and "rip" functions just fine. I do have two other audio software suites (nero and roxio) and these two other audio software suites sense my sony DVD-r rw just fine. I burned two discs yesterday...but WMP just won't do it. My media on my local disc seems to play fine in it and again this just started happening recently but it has worked in the past. I am not sure if SP1 for vista has something to do with this or not.     - Running an DVD in Windows Media Player with DVD@ACCESS files Hi, I want to use Windows Media Player 11 for playing a DVD with DVD@ACCESS files. The DVD@ACCESS files are Power Point files who are build in the DVD.     - Media info wrong on my new CD Hi, I just got a new CD and wanted to rip the 14 tracks to my desktop pc, using WMP11. When the CD was inserted, i was surprised to see that it said unknown album/artist. I restarted the pc and started over again and this time, it listed all 14 tracks but the songs were 50% wrong in name. One song was listed 4 times (one of those misspelled), meaning some song titles were not even there. But nonetheless, it showed 14 tracks. I then got on my laptop. It did the same thing. My kid told me she wanted to try Itunes and it was shown fine there; songs in order with the correct name once and not 4 times. BTW, when i tried using WMP11, i couldnt find the part that says to look up info so that abum art and info. Normally, shouldnt this be done automatically when a store purchased CD is inserted?     - video And WM Player Not Displayed But Audio Plays Vista Home Pemium w/updates WM 11.0.6001.7000 When I click a .wmv file, or right click and hit play, the audio portion begins to play. The player does not open on the desktop. I have to manually open the player. When I open WM, the video is playing along with the audio. I have an administrator account. My problem is that when I play an album or playlist of MP3's through either WMP or MC they play fine until 20 secs before the end of the track. At about this point, there's a couple or 3 stutters as if the PC was "getting the next track ready" Other players play fine, ie the otherwise awful Sonic Stage and so on.     - Same Picture is displayed for all new mp3s I have my player set to display album art when an mp3 is played. For some reason, every new song I download displays the same picture, which isn't even on my computer anymore, far as I know. It's like the Player automatically chose a default pic from my download folder to use with any mp3 that doesn't have its own album art already encoded in it. When I tell MSN to show what I'm listening to, it says that it requires WMP 9 or higher and gives me a link to download the latest version of WMP.     - WMP 10 no longer plays streams I can no longer connect to a live stream of radio or video like cspan radio or cspan tv. This is true whether I am playing it in a web page or directly thru the player. There is nothing wrong with my network as I can play the same streams in some of my other players but not all. Apparently those players that use parts of WMP to play streams can no longer play them and those that don't can play the streams. This is the error message I get in WMP: Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. If you typed a URL in the Open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:").     - Unable to Rollback to WMP 10 I need to do a firmware upgrade on my Creative Zen MP3 player but cannot do so until I downgrade to WMP 10. Unfortunately XP SP2 will not rollback the player for me. I have followed the instructions on the Microsoft website but when I go into Add/Remove Programs and try to rollback, the operation tells me that it succeeded. I restart and WMP11 is still installed so of course I can't remove the other programs to required to do the Firmware upgrade. Any ideas how to get around this problem?     - Ripping a CD to an MP3 file to a hard drive When I use Windows Media 11 player to rip a selected CD track to an MP3 file, it seems to want only to do this to a CD drive. I assume there has to be a path to send the MP3 file to a defined hard drive path - is there not? While I am a very experienced computer user, I am new to this area of activity. I also find WMP 11 a little kludgy to work with ripping selections, creating playlists, et al. But that may well be because I'm just not that well versed in doing these things. Are there any good free "tutorials" around that I could download for such activities. I was referred to iTunes. But I don't want to use any of Apple's software. When I manually start it I get the following error message: Could not start the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service service on Local Computer. Q: Is there any way to prevent this behaviour? Background: As a mobile user I regularly change environments where different servers will provide me with the same set of media files.     - WMP11 problems with MP3 ID3 tag data I use a 3rd party program (MP3tag) to update the ID3 information on my MP3 files because it can do several at once. I have about 300 files that I recently ripped from CD that were missing the ID3 tag information (technically, most of them had ID3 tags, but it was ID3v2.4 which WMP does not appear to support). I re-tagged all of the files with both ID3v2.3 (which WMP reads fine from my other MP3s) and ID3v1 tag information. Winamp and every other media program I have tried recognizes the ID3 tag information, but WMP still shows them as unknown artist and doesn't read any tag information. I am certain the information is there, but I think WMP must store metadata somewhere and refuses to refresh it. I have tried removing the files from the library and then re-adding them... that didn't work. I wouldn't really care about WMP not recognizing the information since I don't use it much, but this tag information is fed to my Xbox360 for media streaming and it becomes a real pain-in-the-ass to search through artists to unknown and scroll through these 300+ songs and manually adding each song to the playlist when I want to listen to a particular artist affected by this issue.     - Overhauling auto sync playlists I am trying to overhaul my auto sync playlists. I started with these playsts: - 4 or 5 stars (the defaut one) - All Music The above just managed to fit all my songs on my device (a 8GB microSDHC card) ... it was 99% full. I have now set up my own auto playlists because I want to be a bit more selective about the music on my device. I removed the above two playlists completely and then added the auto playlists I created all in one step: - 5 star - 4 star - 3 star - 2 star - Unrated The goal here was to delete all the music I had rated as '1 star'. I figured what would happen is that WMP11 would scan the music already on my device that it was aware of (seeing as I used WMP11 sync to put it there in the first place), notice that all of the music specified in these new playlists already existed on the device, and then notice that some songs (namely the 1 star ones) were no longer required on the device and remove them. To my dismay instead it made a sync list in the "sync results" pane that listed all the new playlist songs as if they had never been synced to the device in the first place. Naturally the synch for all these songs failed because there was essentially no room left on the card. It said "did not fit on device" for every single one of them instead of "already on device", which is what I was expecting. On top of that, it did not delete the 1 star songs from the device like I was expecting. Does anyone know why this is and how I can fix it? I am expecting to much from WMP. This seemed like a fairly basic thing to me and I expected it to be as smooth as butter. By the way I am using Vista 32 Premium.     - Stop WMP 11 from attempt to sync memory cards Is there a way to get it to stop automatically scanning every memory card I stick in my USB reader? This is INCREDIBLY annoying - I use WMP to watch my baby via an IP cam - having it up and running seems to make it think it's ok to scan everything. Please - provide a way to disable this.     - No audio in DVD playback on PC - what am I doing wrong? Hey folks: I am for the first time in my life trying to play a video DVD on my desktop PC (believe it or not). I have a commercially recorded documentary (title "King Corn") lent from a friend, and can't get it to play properly. The problem is no sound. The video looks fine, but there's no audio output whatsoever. I've tried using Windows Mediaplayer as well as a program called Media Player Classic. Both behave pretty much the same way -- the video plays silently. When the film first opens, it shows me a "menu" in the form of two selections, the first of which is the film, the second is a blank box labeled "Empty Title". I select the first box (which has the thumbnail- size, shrunk-down opening shot of the movie). Then the screen is filled with the opening scene in the playback window frame, and to the right is a list of "chapters" in the DVD info window frame, listed under the heading "Title 1". Also on the opening screen is a sort of on-screen, text menu that offers three choices: Play, Chapters and Audio Options. It seems that Audio Options would be the thing to select at this point, but I can't get it to respond. I tried clicking on it with the mouse pointer. Also tried moving the selection highlight with the arrow keys, and some other keys (spacebar, tab, page-up, page-down). Nothing seems to move the highlight off the "Play" option. So okay, I Iet it start playing, but get no sound, even with the volume boosted to the highest setting. I played around a bit with some of the Win Mediaplayer menu options that looked like they might be relevant to audio output, but to no avail. Is it possible that this disc is recorded in such a way to preclude it from playing back (with audio) on a computer? Everything else seems to work -- skipping forward, pausing and resuming play. I'm thinking that there's something very basic that I'm missing. But what? On the DVD itself, there are two directories, VIDEO_RM and VIDEO_TS. In the VIDEO_RM directory, there are three files: VIDEO_RM.BUP, VIDEO_RM.DAT and VIDEO_RM.IFO.
