When I insert a CD WMP opens and I hear sound for a few seconds
then silence... now I see system sound are no longer audible also.
All used to work until I swapped out MoBo
MSI K9Neo V3 MoBo with Realtek audio, setup for two stereo speakers
connected to the rear speaker out [lime green jack]
There are no yellow !s in Device Manager and sound properties says all
is working.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Do local non-CD files work? Is it only CD playback that breaks things?

Zach
thanks for your interest,
I believe it could be some sort of incompatibility with the MSI K9 Neo
V3 Mo Bo /chipset and the Pioneer DVR-215S drive.
If I install a DVR-216S all works OK, yet the "faulty" optical drive work
OK in a different [MSI K9AG Neo 2] MoBo. I have also checked the MSI
and Pioneer sites for BIOS and firmware updates thinking that might
solve the issue but no updates exist.
I also discussed the with problem with my supplier's tech support team but
they couldn't offer an explanation, well at least I have a solution in the
Pioneer 216-S drive.
