The disk can be dirty and error correction is on - in that case, the
computer tries to re-read areas with scratches etc to get a better
'average' copy of the data if it can read it sometimes but not others
Or, you might be ripping in Analog mode instead of Digital (though
that should *only* take as long as the actual CD duration, max)
To check : In WMP go to the Rip panel, click the small dropdown menu
below the Rip button and choose More Options. Now go to Devices,
select your CD drive, and choose Properties.
First, make sure Digital is selected for Playback and Rip.
Try ripping a CD again*, and if it doesn't help, try another CD.
If that doesn't work, untick "Use error correction", again trying
first one CD then a different one to see how long it takes to rip.
* In each case where you've already ripped the CD to WMP, it will spit
the disk out noting 'already ripped to library' hence why you'd have
to try a different CD each time.
