Hi, I was watching a DVD - region 2, when my laptop, started an automatic
update. I changed DVD's - another region 2 - and now they won't play - error
message is that the DVDs are the wrong region. I assume the windows update
- unsolicited - has reset my machine to another area, but I don't know how to
rest - not very technical any help would be appreciated

It would be very unusual for an automatic Windows update to have changed
the Region code of a DVD player. However, an updated firmware for the DVD
might have caused such a change. Hence, one must be very careful to limit
updates to just Windows or Microsoft applications. Who knows from where
this firmware update originated, perhaps from a server in the US (which
is DVD Region 1, for example). And it would certainly be more preferable
to shy away from automatic updates and opt for the "choose and download"
approach. This setting can be made by turning off automatic updates.
