I could not get them to play properly in WMP either wiuth ffdshow, but used
Super (free) to convert to VOB, then changed extension from.vob to .mpg and
they played fie in WMP.

To convert the .mts files to .vob, in super, select the output container:
Automode. Make sure Directshow Decode is checked. It will convert the .mts
files to .VOB.
