    - Problems with audio stream in WMP 11 Hi! I have the following problem with an audio stream in Windows Media Player 11. The title of the stream, as well as most of the file's properties, does not appear in the list pane or when viewing the file's properties from the list pane. This means that the title is not saved when creating a playlist. The title (and complete list of properties) does appear when accessing the stream from the bottom-left corner of the player.     - WMP11 Windows Vista Home Premium Hi There, new to this group: I am trying to get my WMP11 to play downloaded (.mp3's). In the Technical Support Information section under the Audio Codecs area it says that it supports - type DMO; MP3 Decoder DMO; Format 0055;Binary-MP3dmod.dll;Ver.-11.0.6001.7000? Does that mean it should support playing downloaded MP3's? Cause it does not. It gives me an error message saying: "The file you are attempting to play has an extension (.mp3) that does not match the file format. Playing the file may result in unexpected behavior. Do you want the Player to try to play this content." Yes or No When I click on - Yes - Internet Explorer opens with another security warning box advising me - file download - do you want to save this file - Name: Play-MP3.exe Type: Application,97.8KB From: www.fastmp3player.com When I click run - then another security warning box comes up and advises me that the publisher couldn't be verified and is unknown and boots me out. So what gives? Any ideas, suggestions? I'm not an computer whiz by any means and I'm really getting frustrated with all this mumble jumble I just want to download so good old rock and roll.     - Using WMP 11 to play CD collection Windows XP SP3 + WMP 11 I have about 450 CD's which should require about 25GB storage. I have more than enough room for this on my regular WinXP desktop. So assume that I decide to use WinMP 11 on my existing PC to run the music, I'm still unclear about these points: Using normal audio cabling, my CD player is connected to an old Sony Amplifier which drives the speakers. Similarly, the TV is also connected to the amplifier so I can play TV or DVD sound through the external speakers The PC is in one room. The amplifier and TV in another. So, it seems to me that I need: 1. A video connection from the computer to the TV to enable the computer to drive the TV as a display of the various CD's, tracks, etc.. 2. A remote to control the computer's WMP to select and display the desired tracks. 3. An audio connection from the computer to the input of the external amplifier to drive the speakers. Corresponding Questions: 1. Which output on the computer, and which input on the TV. What sort of cabling or other connection? 2. Where do I find the appropriate remote?     - Media playback stuttering Hi Everyone. Recently when listening to music/radio/watching dvds on my desktop the sound and image stutters for a second or two every minute or so. It does it in every programme I have tried, Windows Media, Real Player, Power DVD etc. This may be a coincidence but it appeared to happen after I installed a new wireless adapter.     - WMP Only Plays Sound With .AVI Files + Other Problem XP Home, SP3 WMP 11.0.5721.5230 When playing new .AVI files WMP only plays the sound- no picture. If I convert the file to .DIVX and play it on BS Player I get both picture and sound. Also, when trying to play certain .mpg files I get an error notice that it couldn't find the codec.     - Verifying License Error I have Windows Media Player 10. I tried playing some of the music in my library and received an error message. There's no error code.     - WMP11 and Syncing Videos to Media Devices Hi All, Hopeing someone can help. I have a system with Vista Ultimate SP1. an Archos 605 with the latest fimrware, (I have also tried it with a HP PDA and a HTC Phone, both running Windows Mobile 6) I want to use WMP11 to sync my videos to the Devices, now I can drag and drop and it works fine, but the video is large and it also wastes alot of drive space or I can use a 3rd party programme which costs more money and doubles the effort. However I should be able to use the builtin sync feature on wmp11 to convert and sync with the archos, or windows mobile devices. Unfortunately it doesn't work If I sync a MPEG File it works fine, same with Media Center DVR-MS files, it converts these and reduces the file size, and syncs no problem. If I use a avi file, it fails to work. Gives you an error that Media Player cannot convert the file to a format that can be played by the player. I had a look on the net and downloaded the XP Video Codec detector, and that gave me a clue all my codecs have this error: "this decoder is not compatible with the synchronization features of windows media 10". Now does anyone have WMP11 working to allow you to sync videos automatically? If so can you advise what codec you are using so I can try that. Any help very much appreciated.     - Ideas ok WMP is falling behind in the department of album art embedding. There are programs out there like FixTunes that make winamp look like a joke in this area, Winamp also has WMP covered here. IMO Winamp is the better media player at the moment, the way it can simply list many tracks in a format of your choice eg "Artist - Title" where as WMP seems to list them in simple form title only (that's outside of the library). I would also like to see the Auto-Tag feature emulated in WMP.     - WMP11 Vista - Won't Show Shared Library I have searched the site, but can't seem to find a resolution to this problem. Have searched 'HERE' (http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=867861) and 'HERE' (http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=925449), and so hope someone has come across (and resolved) this issue before. So, am running WMP 11 on an XP SP3 machine. It shares out all my media. The shared media is accessible from 2 x Xbox 360s and a mixture of XP and Vista PCs - except one. WHich just happens to be my Vista PC. It's running Vista SP1 and has all the latest Windows Updates. My PC originally showed the shared library within WMP11. I subsequently deleted the shared library when I upgraded the hard drives on the media sharing machine, but now it won't add it back in. I have deleted the PC from the sharing on the media PC. I have then checked 'Find media that others are sharing' My PC has reappeared in the shared list on the media sharing PC Still nothing I have closed down all WMP programs, including the networking component and renamed the WMP folder in ..\AppData\Local\Microsoft and let it be recreated Still nothing I have allowed new devices to both connect automatically and with authorisation on the media sharing PC and either way makes no difference. I can add the media directly to the library as monitored folders and it works, but it will not show up as a shared library, despite other devices (including other Vista PCs) picking it up fine. I don't know if you can manually add a shared library, but it won't appear on its own despite it being authorised by the media sharing PC and my PC being enables to add shared media.     - Uncorrupting WMP 11 on XP Hello, I am using XP with SP2 and WMP 11 and it seems something happened to it because when I play mpegs, for example, I get errors after the first play. When the file is first opened, WMP says, 'acquiring codec', then 'codec acquired', and a red 'x' appears next to the filename, then it plays the file. If I stop the player (or let it run to the end) and try to play the file again, it can't do it. The error, from the red 'x', says, 'an audio codec is needed to play this file'. When I press the 'web help' button, a web page opens to the error. Under technical details, it says: Original Error Code: C00D10D1 Original Error Message: 'Windows Media Player cannot play the file because a required codec is not installed on your computer.' . . . this happens with any MPEG file but this particular file uses an MPEG1 codec. None of this has ever happened before, so, I uninstalled WMP 11, which actually reverts back to a previous version and did a re-install but it did not change anything. Any suggestions appreciated.     - CD not recognized? Hi! I have only just started working with WMP version 11 (with all updates installed), and when I insert a CD in my laptop, WMP does not automatically recognise the CD anymore, like it used to in older versions. When I tell it to search for the data, it always finds the right song titles, but when I push the button and tell it to update to these song titles, it just doesn't, so I have to edit them manually, which is rather a bore.     - No video, visualizations, cannot enter full screen I've been trying to fix this problem on and off for years, and I can't understand why it happens. Basically, the video screen is completely useless. I can't view videos of any format (but the audio will play, and video will play in other players). Nor can I see visualizations when audio is playing. Also, no matter what is playing, I can't enter fullscreen mode, it's greyed out when I right click. If I'm playing a video and I right click, the "show video" option is checked, but cannot be unchecked. I've updated my drivers, removed bad codecs, lowered hardware acceleration, etc. In the past when I've reformatted, everything works great for a while and for no discernible reason, stops showing anything and I have to switch over to something else.     - CD Duration Hi, We make personalised children's CDs (flutterby.com.au). We've been using WMP to test our CDs before shipping since we started in 1999. We need to be able to see the duration of the entire CD. If the duration is the same on every CD we know we haven't left a track off or lost any information in the burn process.     - downloaded file is worthless I have a Mac, trying to upgrade my Windows Media player from 7.1 to 9. I am using OS X. I download the file from the website. Then I have to unzip it with SutffIt. It creates another file. I have to unzip that. It creates another file. I have to unzip THAT ONE TOO! Finally it spits out a non-zip file, and it does nothing. it's a text file that, when I open in Text Editor, is gibberish, as if it's a program. So how do I install this stupid update?     - How to stop this annoying update Hi there, I have WMP 10 on XP Pro and every now and then I get a message saying a media update is available. The update will then try and install WMP 10 which I already have and promptly fails. Why is it doing this? Shouldn't it be trying to update to WMP 11 rather than 10 anyway?     - CD Keeps finalizing after 2nd or 3rd track. I've been able to make cd's but not one after the other. I have tried a new brand. When browsing thru a specific artist (e.g. Genesis 33 albums, 300+ songs) You can sort/play the music in order of: A-Z Album title ???? length of song??? bit rate??? size of file??? i've put ??? marks because nobody plays music in order of bit rate (or any of the other 'orders') only order i would play an artists music is in order of date/year - and that's the only method you can't order them in???????????????? - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Any chance this might be added in future, or have i missed the obvious? Everything is fine if I make my file in MPEG-1 format ; however, if I try to make it in MPEG-2, although everything seems fine when setting up and transferring, when I play the file in Media Player it has no sound. I assume that I have a missing codec (whatever a codec is !) but, not being a "techie" I haven't the faintest idea how to identify what is missing or how to rectify it. Can anyone help please ?     - Some avi files display corrupted using WMP10 on XP I have been using WMP10 on my WinXP Home SP2 for quite a while with no problems at all. Not sure if some windows update has caused this problem or not, but some (not all) of my avi files do not display correctly. While most avi files run fine, 4 of my avi files will play, but the video is colour distorted with poor resolution and is predominantly red/orange in colour. By chance, I found that if I move the WMP window around, the full colour is restored and is perfectly watchable - apart from having to move the window all the time. If I stop moving the window, it goes back to the reddish colouration again. This seems to smack of a video driver problem with my Nvidia card, but why should it be ok for most files and also worked previously with the same files. Anyone have any ideas.     - Using iTunes and WMP11 together I am probably like a lot of users who have either a Zune, Windows Mobile phone, iPhone, or iPod and use both iTunes and WMP11. I like to buy my music through iTunes. The problem is the format in which iTunes puts the music in (.m4a). WIMP and my Windows Mobile phone do not recognize that format. I normally play my music out of WMP11 so how can I make both WMP11 and my Windows Mobile phone play the music I get from iTunes? I have been burning my iTunes Music to CD and then re-ripping it in WMP as a WMA format, but then I have the music in two different formats taking up double the space on my drive. I have WMP 11 & when I play an avi file then pause it then press play the
video goes in slow motion but the audio continues on normally. I have not
changed any settings. exit out and restart the WMP avi file. This probably
happens for other types of files. any ideas?
