I've no idea how that went missing, it should be a core file.

You may be able to restore a copy using the following steps :
Go to Start -> Run, in the box type

cmd

Press enter, then type

sfc /scannow

Press enter, and allow the system file checker to complete its run -
it should be able to restore most files like that from a backup stored
on the PC.

You may also need to run (in the same command line window)

regsvr32 wmdrmsdk.dll

If that doesn't help, the file is included in this update package
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928788

You'd probably need the x86 version unless you know you have a 64 bit
version of XP.

Hi Neil,

Thanks for getting back to me. I tried all three of your suggestions but,
with no luck. I tried downloading the file but got an error. It says I
need to have media format 11 sdk on my system before I can run the package.
What can I do next? Please help.

You might be able to reinstall WMP11 from the download package - it
may work on XP (but won't on Vista), and comes with the WMF11 SDK

Probably the best shot though is to rollback to WMP10 by uninstalling
WMP11 *then* run the download package again. You can get WMP11
installer from this page :
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/AllDownloads.aspx

The SDK package is available separately, from here
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsmedia/bb190309.aspx
but I'm not sure it's intended to be installed to fix player problems.
