    - WMP11 Library Sharing from XP to Vista Ultimate, Bug or Challenging problem? I have most of my media on my home desktop (XP SP2 Home), around 700 songs, 7,000 pictures, and 500 movie files (MPG and AVI) stored on 4 external hard drives totaling 1.75 TB. I have printer and file sharing enabled, I have Media sharing in WMP11 enabled on my XP. I'm able to see all types of my media from my PS3 just fine. I am able to view and open all shared media in windows by using network locations, shared/mapped drives, typing \\computername or \\\ipaddress from my Windows Vista Machine. However, I'm only able to see my Music and my Pictures (Granted this takes a while to load) from my XP machine on my Vista Ultimate laptop in WMP11. I've double checked my sharing settings on the XP machine to be sure that it is sharing everything. I removed my Vista machine from the shared devices and added it back on the XP Machine. I'm beginning to think something is corrupt on my Windows XP machine when it comes to what it will share with my Vista computer.     - Won't Play Internet radio Broadcast Hello, For some reason my Media Player 11 (on Vista) will no longer play radios that i get from the internet. It keeps telling me that the protocol is not supported. I am attempting to connect to radio shows that i have listened to before and had no problem.     - Streaming video in WMP11 and I.E. I am running Webguide on my Vista Home Premium computer at home. I have a Vista Ultimate laptop and a Vista Home Premium laptop. The Home Premium laptop can connect fine to my Web guide and stream videos either through IE 7 or WIMP. On my Ultimate laptop I recently have not been able to. When I try and stream video from it I get this error message in WIMP. "You've encountered error message C00D11B1 while using Windows Media Player" I get this message in IE when I try to stream through the browser, "Windows Media layer cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn, or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted." I am also having issues streaming video from other websites like chicagobears.com also. Like I said earlier I had this working fine awhile ago and I am not sure what has changed on this system..     - WMP gives no image, only sound on internet A few days ago I was surfing around the internet behind some proxies. I couldn't play flash files and it told me to download a new player.     - 2 Audio Streams on AVI File Playing at the same time in WMC Hello Gurus! I have a problem playing particular avi files that have 2 audio streams. Windows media player plays both at the same time and this results in two different voice overs at the same time english/mandarine! I can play the avi in VLC media player without the conflict.     - WMP10 won't play downloaded wmv files. I have WinXP Home Edition, SP2. If I receive a wmv file, through an email or skype for example, and try to play it by double-clicking the file I get the following error message: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. If the file is on another computer, verify that you are connected to the network. If you typed a path, verify that it is correct. If the problem persists, the server might not be available." If I save the file to my hard drive it plays fine in WMP10. In the past I tried changing the file association to one of several players I have and if I recall correctly the only one that worked at the time was VLC player.     - WMP does not "sense" my burner When I try to use my WMP (latest version) to burn a disk, it gives me an error message. I says to attach a burner and try again. It did use to work, but somehow now it will not burn a disk. It does do "synch" and "rip" functions just fine. I do have two other audio software suites (nero and roxio) and these two other audio software suites sense my sony DVD-r rw just fine. I burned two discs yesterday...but WMP just won't do it.     - Media info wrong on my new CD Hi, I just got a new CD and wanted to rip the 14 tracks to my desktop pc, using WMP11. When the CD was inserted, i was surprised to see that it said unknown album/artist. I restarted the pc and started over again and this time, it listed all 14 tracks but the songs were 50% wrong in name. One song was listed 4 times (one of those misspelled), meaning some song titles were not even there. But nonetheless, it showed 14 tracks. I then got on my laptop. It did the same thing. My kid told me she wanted to try Itunes and it was shown fine there; songs in order with the correct name once and not 4 times. BTW, when i tried using WMP11, i couldnt find the part that says to look up info so that abum art and info. Normally, shouldnt this be done automatically when a store purchased CD is inserted? My problem is that when I play an album or playlist of MP3's through either WMP or MC they play fine until 20 secs before the end of the track. For some reason, every new song I download displays the same picture, which isn't even on my computer anymore, far as I know. It's like the Player automatically chose a default pic from my download folder to use with any mp3 that doesn't have its own album art already encoded in it.     - WMP 10 no longer plays streams I can no longer connect to a live stream of radio or video like cspan radio or cspan tv. This is true whether I am playing it in a web page or directly thru the player. There is nothing wrong with my network as I can play the same streams in some of my other players but not all. Apparently those players that use parts of WMP to play streams can no longer play them and those that don't can play the streams. This is the error message I get in WMP: Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported.     - Unable to Rollback to WMP 10 I need to do a firmware upgrade on my Creative Zen MP3 player but cannot do so until I downgrade to WMP 10. Unfortunately XP SP2 will not rollback the player for me.     - Ripping a CD to an MP3 file to a hard drive When I use Windows Media 11 player to rip a selected CD track to an MP3 file, it seems to want only to do this to a CD drive. I assume there has to be a path to send the MP3 file to a defined hard drive path - is there not? While I am a very experienced computer user, I am new to this area of activity. That's actually a streaming media error, not a local playback error :

Are you trying to play the file directly from a website ? Is there any
chance of right-click in the browser, choose Save As and playing it
from your local hard disk ?

There are some audio and video formats which aren't suitable for
streaming and this could be one which is generating an unexpected
error for the issue the players experiencing.
