Hello,

I'm running Windows Media Player 11.0.6001.7000 on my XP machine it lists my
flac files in the library. On this machine even though it plays the files
in Windows Media player just fine - I can't get them to list in the library.
Can you please tell me how to add file types to the library list?

Thanks

Try this: in Windows explorer go to a flac and check if "open with" is
coupled to WMP

Thanks - they do open with WMP and they do play fine - I just can't get them
to add to the WMP library.

I went through a similar process with Ogg Vorbis files - they play, but
won't add. When I went into settings and added the .oga filetype, it
instantly forgot it, with no error message. In the end, I gave up,
trusting that some future version of WMP will probably support the newer
audio filetypes that are becoming popular.

John Lockwood recommends that prorgam and adds some info from a MS
suport article about how to get WMP to recognise them so they appear
in the media library :

This is a bug or limitation of whatever plug-in you added to add in FLAC
support. The information on how to get your file type added to the library
properly is published on MSDN -- it looks like your plug-in provider either
didn't read or doesn't support that functionality.

So: ask your FLAC plug-in provider. =)

It's easy for any vendor to set this up right in their plug-in's
registration. How they do this is documented on MSDN.

This is a bug or limitation of your plug-in. It is NOT a bug in the player
given the player generally can not effectively guess what any added plug-in
wants to have happen. =\
