    - Can't restore my licenses I have bought music over the years from Walmart online and saved the licenses as well as the music downloads in folders on my hard drive. It all worked fine until I recently reformatted my computer and reinstalled Windows XP SP2. After reinstalling Windows I also copied the music folders and the license backups back to my new hard drive but now when I try to play the music Media player 11 can't download media access rights and won't play the music. Also, I can't figure out how to get it to restore my licenses from my backed up files. In Media player 9 there was a menu option for restoring licenses from local folders, but I see no options for this in Media player 11. Can anyone please advise on how to restore my licenses?     - When moving mouse WMP 9 shows buttons, I do not want that! 1. I play a movie in full screen mode. 2. I accidentally move the mouse 1 micron. 3. Then suddenly all those buttons are viewable and all kinds of menu's etcetera. I never asked for that! And I cannot change these settings. Does anybody know the solution for this?     - How to prevent WMP 11 from trying to sync? My problem is that when I plug in a device (MP3 player, SD card, flash drive, etc.) while watching a video in WMP 11, it always switched from the Now Playing tab to the Sync tab. I dont want to use WMP 11 for syncing at all. Is there any way I can get WMP 11 to not take any action on its own when I connect something?     - error: C00D11B3 When I go to my website and click on a video I get a "Windows media player could not play the file because a network error occured. The server might not be available. Verify that you are connected to the network and that your proxy settings are correct." message. I am not connected to a network. I connect directly via modem. On all other websites WMP works fine.     - Downloading DRM MP3 files from Spiral Frog I have been trying to download music from a website called Spiral Frog. I keep getting the message:Failed:-1072879854 License storage is not working.     - Track disability carrying over In the media player that comes standard with XP, there was the option to enable or disable tracks in the current playlist. With the upgraded Media Player 11, this option is not present. The problem begins when I upgrade to Media Player 11. Some tracks of a particular disk were left disabled upon upgrade, and the result is that the tracks on the disk will effectively refuse to play. I looked for a method to reenable the tracks, but the search was futile. Rolling back, enabling the disabled tracks, then reinstalling the Media Player 11 also failed to solve the problem.     - no sound device found I have a Compaq Presario SR2023wm Media Center 2005, I had to reinstall Windows Xp Professional with SP2 and when I did, I had to reinstall all the original drivers. I cannot get the sound though. I got the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver but it says I need a MS UAA High Def Audio Bus Driver.     - WIndows media player 10 wont play video of DIVX 3 low motion codec Hello, I have a problem with playback of some AVI files Windows Media Player 10 i upgraded to 11 and it still happens The video (.avi) is compressed using the DivX Codec DIVX 3 ...I already have the latest version of DivX 6.80 installed in my computer... Whenever I try to pay it on WMP 11, there will be an error message saying "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file"...I went to Web Help but it either says that I have a sound problem or that I do not have the correct codec installed. My sound works perfectly, and whenever I play the video, the sound is still able to play in the background, but no video appears. (the error message will appear of course) I tried using GSpot to double check, but the codec (used to compress the video) is Div 3. i have DIVx 3 installed. I tried uninstalling the DivX bundle and reinstalling DivX 6.8 again, but it didn't work. Also, the DIV3 videos are still playable on players like Divx player and Winamp . and VLC media player . odd thing is if i play another avi file first and then play the avi that has DIV3 it works !     - Playing whole CD's I occasionally want random selection to play whole CD's rather than individual tracks. WMP11 doesn't cater for this, but it occurred to me that if I could encode the albums as single tracks when ripping (as well as individual tracks) then I could fabricate a playlist that played the "Single Album" audio files. I don't think WMP can be persuaded to rip albums to a single audio file, and I couldn't find such as option in either Exact Audio Copy or CDEX.     - Windows Vista media player 11 crash on start I recently upgraded my processor, ever since then, media player crashes 2-5 seconds after I open it up, I did a forum search and tried deleting my drm folder and that did not seem to fix the problem, does anyone have any suggestions? Also, I have the zune software installed, when I start that software it crashes instantly as well, and I can watch streaming .wmv inside websites with no problem thanks!     - Windows Media Player - flashes green during playback Hi - On my Dell laptop XP Media Center, when I record a TV program and then play it back through the Windows Media Player, the screen will flash green during playback. Por ejemplo, un oficial al que sus superiores le ordenan algo, quisiera, estando al servicio, exponer sus razones en voz alta acerca de la utilidad de esa orden, él tiene que obedecer. Sin embargo en justicia, no se le puede prohibir que en cuanto intelectual critique o haga comentarios sobre los errores del servicio militar y los exponga a consideración del - Una alumna padece la injusticia de un profesor; en respuesta, boicotea la clase ¿debe hacer esto, según Kant? No. Como alumna haciendo uso privado de su razón debe obedecer al profesor y las normas impuestas por el centro, y no puede boicotear la clase. Ahora bien, como ser humano y ante una injusticia boicotea la clase haciendo uso público de la -Un profesor francés de filosofía ha publicado un artículo contra la religión musulmana donde sostiene que el Corán es muy violento y lo vincula con el terrorismo. Según parece ha sido amenazado . Relaciónalo con el uso público/privado de Kant y da tu opinión. El profesor al publicar el artículo ha hecho uso público de la razón, como filósofo y como ser humano. En su calidad de funcionario de educación y ciudadano de un Estado laico debería haberlo escrito haciendo uso privado de la razón. Como funcionario está obligado a cumplir las normas. Mi opinión es que el profesor hizo bien en publicar el artículo y expresar libremente su opinión y criticar, y fue valiente al hacerlo y no temer a las consecuencias, amenazas y represalias. El profesor optó por su libertad para expresarse públicamente sin tener en cuenta que como persona podría correr peligro -Opina sobre la distinción Kantiana uso público/uso privado de la razón. Kant sostiene que el uso público de la razón debe ser siempre libre y el uso privado tiene que limitarse. En mi opinión criticar y obedecer son las dos caras de este uso de la razón. Tenemos libertad para expresar nuestras ideas sobre todos los asuntos y criticar haciendo uso de esa libertad pero el límite de mi crítica está en las leyes y normas de mi país, que me obligan como ciudadano a obedecer y cumplirlas, porque sino la sociedad no funcionaría. 3 - Sería posible, según Kant, establecer una norma, o una constitución política como definitiva?¿por qué?¿Cuál sería la piedra de toque?¿Podrías relacionar todo esto con algún aspecto más actual? Esta tendencia a perfeccionarse (a ir a mejor) actúa como causa y finalidad de toda la historia humana, y es lo que le da sentido. El progreso sería el desarrollo de las capacidades humanas. 4 -" No vivimos en una época ilustrada, sino de ilustración". Explica y compara con nuestra época. En aquella época faltaba mucho para que los hombres, tal como estaban las cosas, se sirvieran de su propio entendimiento sin la dirección de algún otro por eso dice Kant que no vivían en una época ilustrada. Pero es de la ilustración o el siglo de Federico ( Federico el Grande, monarca ilustre, tolerante en materia religiosa y abierto al desarrollo ilimitado) porque liberó por primera vez al género humano de la minoría de edad y dejó en libertad a cada cual para servirse de su propia razón. La ilustración es sobre todo, una reivindicación de la libertad y de la emancipación respecto de cualquier sujeción o dependencia. La ilustración marca antes y un después en lo cultural y en lo político, a partir de ella países de Europa y EE.UU. hicieron sus revoluciones políticas y se crearon sistemas democráticos en los que los ciudadanos gozaron de todas las libertades. En otros países se Europa como España, la ilustración no tuvo tanta influencia y consecuencia de ello fue que siguiera sin libertades. Han tenido que pasar siglos para conseguir una sociedad con libertades (democrática) como lo que tenemos ahora, en lenguaje Kantiano una sociedad con ciudadanos con ciudadanos mayores de edad. Opiniones, críticas. El libro es un ensayo con titulo en forma de pregunta. Kant es un pensador ilustrado, su filosofía y este libro no puede ser comprendido si no es desde la perspectiva de los intereses e ideales de la ilustración, por tanto hay que ponerse en aquella época. Los ideales de la ilustración (individuos libres, el ser humano se hace a sí mismo, naturaleza perfectible, sociedad no estética sino en progreso, ciudadanos capaces de saber y decidir por sí mismos, antidogmática y sin verdades absolutas) los comparto todos, pero son ideales. Kant cree que ha llegado la hora en la que el hombre se haga cargo de su vida y decida por sí mismo. Por ello se pregunta ¿Qué es la ilustración? Dice que es la salida del hombre de la minoría de edad causada por él mismo. Empieza planteando el problema: la minoría de edad del hombre. A continuación las razones, propuesta para solucionarlo y qué se requiere para ello. Kant mantiene que para la ilustración no se requiere más que libertad y que una sociedad ilustrada hará posible ciudadanos más relacionados, más conscientes de sus obligaciones y, por tanto, mejores. Pienso que en parte tenía razón, la libertad es imprescindible para poder hacer uso de la razón en todos los asuntos. Ahora tenemos todas las libertades, de pensamiento, expresión etc. Pero estas libertades están condicionadas también por los prejuicios sociales que siguen existiendo, si soy valiente y me enfrento a esos prejuicios y seré libre verdaderamente sin limitaciones. Yo pienso así, pero todos no somos ni pensamos igual. Por esto creo que la educación, la cultura y el conocimiento de las cosas hará que tengamos criterio propio y la sociedad en su conjunto tendrá menos prejuicios. No estoy de acuerdo con Kant cuando dice que un cambio de gobierno no cambiaría la forma de pensar, pienso que sí, según qué gobierno podría ayudar a cambiar la forma de pensar. Las críticas que hago es que Kant olvida el contexto social de nuestros comportamientos. Nos pide excesiva pureza moral ante la impureza de la realidad social. Kant dice que no tenemos derecho a ser ignorante, pues frenamos el desarrollo de la humanidad, me parece que se excede en el concepto de humanidad y no da valor al ser humano como individuo al poner sus actos bajo la idea de humanidad.     - Sharing to PS3... Hi, I have managed to set up sharing to my PS3, and most of the files that my Vista Business x64 PC has within the "My Music" or "My Videos" folders work... but I have several folders full of Audio on another computer running XP Pro.... I access these music files through my Vista machine that has a Network drive mapped to my XP machine, and also has the offline files set up so that I can still play the media and synchronise to the XP machine when it's switched off... So, basically, I need to know how to grant access to the PS3 to READ this offline folder. Can you simply SHARE a mapped offline network drive within Vista? Any other solutions?     - media player memory consumption Hi, I noticed that the windows media player, when I use it in full window or in the toolbar mode, consumes A LOT of memory and CPU resources, even when not playing anything and essentially idle. Just closing the application brings CPU usage down from 65% and more to around 3-5%. Is it normal for the media player to do this?     - Cant find Audio Converter LE I have been reading about the audio converter LE and have tried to load it onto my machine (windows XP). I have reinstalled Media Player version 11 and the Bonus Pack and even though I see it is loading Audio Converter as one of 13 downloads I try to find it under the Start button>All Programs>Windows Media Bonus pack>Plus!     - WMP: no video & visualization under restricted accounts Hi, I have now 2 problems with Media Player 11 under Win XP Home SP2 which work fine a few months ago. 1) I canâ??t actualize album info anymore. It opens a blank window with fai.metaservices.microsoft.com written above and nothing happen. This is not a firewall issue, it the same after deactivating it. What kind of safe settings must be done in IE7 to allow WMP to actualize the album information through internet? 2) I saw a few weeks ago that WMP11 did not show any visualization anymore. But I did not have time to search how to fix it. I can not use a system restore point since the oldest one is after this problem. I tried last week end to reinstall and this fix the problem but only under the admin account. The 2 others restricted accounts can not play video (sound is fine) or see visualization (equalizer and so on also disappeared, unknown plugin is written). Video is working only in mini mode in the taskbar. I tried with a lot difficulty to rollback to WMP10 but it is the same problem for the restricted accounts. I was not successful to roll back further to WMP9. Amazing is that if I change the both restricted accounts to admin accounts then everything looks fine again. Do you have an idea what I should do because I do not want to change the 2 restricted account to admins? It may be a permission problem on some folder or registry key? 3) Some questions on WMP: Which media player service should be set on â??automaticâ?? or â??manuallyâ?? or deactivated.     - Media Player download to Excel Several years ago Microsoft offered a plug-in(?) for media player that would download the library information to an MS Excel file. Because on a licensing issue that I had at the time I could not get it. I am currently using Vista Home Premium and I wonder if such a tool is still available?     - Fresh install but doesn't find all my old music I just reinstalled WMP 11 after using it successfully for half a year. I keep all my music in my "Music" folder and for some reason it finds some of my music but not all. All files are MP3 or WMP format and they were all accessible when on my old installation.     - Error Code 800411CE Hi, I am unable to open the MPEG files on the Windows Media Player These MPEG files were encoded using the MainConcept MPEG codec. The server has the decoders installed on it, Upon opening the file in WMP i get an error, Clicking on WebHelp gives the error code as "800411CE".     - WMP 11 uninstall I installed WMP11 for its media sharing. I was unable to get it to work even after reading all the "tips" found. I installed TVersity and it worked immediately. So I uninstalled WMP11, the Runtime, and 3 updates related to it. Now MS Updates are prompting to reinstall the updates. I know I can uncheck them and choose not to be prompted again, but I shouldn't be asked for something that is no longer on this workstation.     - WMP 11 and Server 2008 - No Network Sharing? So to help with my Issues with my Media Center Extender and accessing Media on a Windows Server. I have installed Windows 2008 Server. Then Added the "Desktop Experience" (allows WMP, Aero, etc) So Great, Windows Media Player 11 is not on my Windows 2008 Server! Sweet, except that its missing the "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service" which is what allows the Media Center Extender to connect to it. When I try to install the WMP 11 from the Web onto the Server it says I have a newer version already on there. I was thinking of trying to remove it and then reinstall the one from the web.     - Saving music, videos & pictures My son's laptop, running XP Home and approximately eighteen months old, is so full of crap I've decided to reformat and do a clean install of his OS. He has, in his WMP 11 library, close to 30GB of music, videos and pictures he wants to save. I assume all of these are located elsewhere in folders on the laptop. It's my understanding that the WMP library basically contains only links to the files in these folders as opposed to storing these files within WMP itself. What is the best way to save these files? I was thinking that I would simply copy or move them from their current file/folder locations to one of my Desktop external drives and then return them to his laptop once the clean install was finished. My intention is to eliminate the recovery sector on his hard drive and create a single partition. He has an actual installation disk for the XP operating system so he doesn't need the recovery sector. Does anyone have any suggestions, or any criticisms regarding my approach? If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. I'm open to any and all advice and I appreciate any assistance that is given.     - Library dissapeared and now I cannot add to library or share media Ive encountered some strange issues with WMP11 (on XP) over the past 2 weeks and Im hoping there's someone out there that can help. The problem started with my playlists disappearing from my library. When I noticed this I tried recreating them, but they would not save. A week or so later I noticed that all my music files were no longer in my library. While all this was happening my xbox could continue to see all the various media that was no longer "in" WMP. A few days ago I noticed that no new media was accessible from my Xbox and decided to try and troubleshoot the issue. I started by dropping and then re-adding my media folders to the monitored folders list. However, after hitting OK and then reopening the Add to Library dialog the montiored list was completely empty. I cannot get anything to "stick" in the list. Ive tried various fixes including deleting the WMP DB from %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player as suggested by KB 925718. I've also reinstalled WMP 11 multiple times. I even removed the Zune UI from my computer thinking they may competing for the same files even though they had been coexisting happily for months. At this point I can play music/movies by using File/open but for everything else (library media sharing etc) the WMP is useless. Im uncertain where to go from here. Thanks in Advance for your help.     - Audio / CPU problems I have had trouble playing audio on my computer, specifically mp3. When i try to play audio (wmplayer, vlc, winamp, so far) the player ramps up to 50+% of my CPU usage and trying to use any other applications makes the audio skip (it actually seems to get worse the longer i run it to the point that it seems to make itself skip). I had thought at first that it was the player but after trying 3 very different players i think it is the system itself.     - Microsoft falling, further and further behind Microsoft still insist on providing a maximum artwork resolution of 200x200 (and having the gaul to call it 'hi-resolution'). Worse, with WMP11 they apparently will downgrade any higher resolution artwork you manually add. For some considerably time Apple via the iTunes Store have been providing 600x600 artwork which is _nine_ times the resolution. Well now Microsoft are looking even more pathetic since Apple now offer 1425x1425 resolution artwork which equates to more than _fifty_ times the so called hi-resolution artwork offered by Microsoft. Note: iTunes 600x600 resolution was already the best of all the stores (Walmart and Amazon use 500x500). Now while this is perhaps an absurdly high resolution for its main uses (on an iPod screen or a computer display, or even a Full-HD 1080p TV), it is equally the case that Microsoft's offering of a paltry 200x200 pixels is barely adequate for even a Zune let alone using in Microsoft Media Center on a HDTV. Considering Microsoft have spent so much effort tarting up their graphics for Vista, disfiguring it with such mediocre artwork is a bizarre (but perhaps typical Microsoft) decision.     - Strange Connection Problem with new Denon 4308ci Hi Everyone, I have searched a variety of threads, but cannot find any quite like this problem I am having. I will try to make this as less confusing as possible... First...my equipment... PC1...(name is HTPC)....Vista 64...WMP11 version 11.0.6001.3869 (I think...doing this from memory, since I am at work right now) ....Wired ethernet to linksys wrt54g wireless router. PC2...(name is MediaPC)...Vista 64...WMP version 11.0.6001.7000 (just installed Vista SP1 to try to resolve this issue). Wireless connection to my router. Denon AVR 4308ci. wired to Linksys router...2 weeks old, firmware was just updated. The goal here is to have streaming audio from PC2...MediaPC.. since it is left on all the time. Second...the problem... Through the wired connection the Denon can see PC1 ...(HTPC) and plays music fine. PC2...MediaPC.. can see the Denon....log into its Web Page and configure with no problems...So the connection is good. But the Denon does not see PC2...Only PC1. As a test, I disconnected the wired cable from PC1 and used a wireless USB NIC. (Same as what I use on PC2) The Denon Still sees PC1 (MediaPC) But now it says "not authorized" ( I am thinking it sees a different MAC address somewhere...but not sure why this would make a difference) I put back the wired and disconnect the wireless...all is good again. More information.... PC2 can see PC1 in WMP11. But PC1 Does not see PC2 (same as the Denon does not) This makes me believe it is not a problem with the Denon, since PC1 cannot see PC2 either. I have been through every setting on both PC's to make sure sharing, network, etc. are the same. I have checked all firewall, and router (wireless settings). Without patting myself on the back too much...let me say...I just got my Microsoft MCSE 2008 upgrade from Windows server 2003 last week. And I am Cisco CCNA certified...So believe me when I say I have checked anything that I can think of. The only thing I have not done is directly wire PC2 to the router to bypass the wireless and see if that makes a difference. It is a hassle to move the PC2, but necessary at this point. I will do that tomorrow. So in summary...PC1 works fine when hard wired..when wireless is connected to PC1...Denon sees it but says "not authorized" The Denon does not see PC2 at all. So maybe this error message may give someone a clue on where WMP11 is looking? And Maybe by adding or authorizing a MAC address it will allow connection?     - WMP, custom file extensions & seeking I really like WMP11 as my media player/server but unfortunately it's missing support for the fast becoming cross platform industry standard H.264/MP4 and could not stream my videos to my Xbox 360. Thankfully looking over MSDN I found that it was possible to introduce custom file formats into WMP and I was successful in creating a registry patch which can stream H.264/MP4/M4V & AAC/M4A to my Xbox 360 from WMP11. http://a8t8.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!2518DD508BB713E8!156.entry With that out of the way although the primary purpose has been fulfilled I would like to improve on it if possible but here is where I have hit a brick wall. There are two outstanding minor issues that I would love to fix and better tie MPEG4 support into WMP if it is actually possible; 1) The length of audio/video for custom formats is not displayed in the library or during the now playing when you play something from the library. 2) Seeking is not supported (is that the right term?) where you can jump to any point in the video, fast forward/rewind etc when you play something from the library. But.. seeking will work if you open the MP4/M4V/M4A in WMP through explorer or through the File-Open menu in WMP or if the videos end up in the "Other Media" category in the library. The time length of the media file also sort of displays semi properly when you do this too though only for a brief moment if you jump to various points in the file it will display the time length. Why it partially works in one way and not through the other I have not been able to figure out at all & looking over MSDN and the registry I cannot locate anything that points me in the right direction. Ideally I would like to at least enable seeking for MP4/M4A/M4V if playing them through Windows Media Players own media library. (I have also looked pretty much at every WMP MPEG4 add-in pack and splitter, registry tweak that's out there and none have been able to overcome this.) Long story short, my mp3 player (TrekStor vibez) can play back LAME encoded MP3 files gaplessly with absolute perfection, but only if they don't contain any ID3v1 tags.     - xbox sharing - can see files, but not play them Win XP Pro SP2 Windows Media Player 11 xBox 360 (Dashboard version 2.0.6683.0) I've just downloaded and installed WMP 11. I go into Library -> Media Sharing. My xBox is listed. I select it, click "Allow" (default settings). On my xBox, I can now go into Media and select "HOME:Laptop" as a media source. Folders in WMP's default locations (ie: My Documents/My Pictures) are visible, as are the extra monitor folders on my external hard drive that I added to the Library. I can go into these and view file lists. I can list Albums and Genres of music: I can SEE all the stuff in my Library. However, I cannot view or play any files. It just hangs for a bit, trying to load it, and then I'll get the red-circle-with-line-through, or a cross for pics. I'm running Windows Firewall and I can see that the various TCP and UDP ports required for sharing are open. My router - a Thomson Speedtouch - is pretty much default. There aren't any firewall settings that I can see would interfere (and in any case this is all INSIDE the router firewall, right?) The xBox and PC are on the same subnet. My library has over 11,000 items in it - I've seen this mentioned as a possible cause? I've searched the newsgroups and google and either I'm missing something or this isn't common - most queries seem to involve the xBox not being able to see the PC at all. Can anyone suggest anything?     - WMP 11 brings up wrong CD data Been ripping CD's with WMP11 (Vista Ultimate PC) .. all working OK. However put in one CD (genuine not a home copy) and it brings up art work & track list for a totally different CD. Although if I click play it does play correct track. I have tried CD on an XP PC and the same issue. Initially I thought that there must be wrong data on CD ... however I then loaded iTUNES .. and brought up correct art work & track list ??? So somehow WMP 11 is getting wrong 'data' for this CD ?
