 - A bug Adding audio files to the library ? I add Economist Audio files to the WMP 11 Library so I can sync them to my Sansa View. To get them into the Library I have to extract all the mp3 files from their individual section folders and put them together in one folder which I title "Economist". I have previously defined this folder as one to monitor in the "Add to Library" window. They get added to the Library this way but not as expected. When I place the cursor over each audio file in Windows Explorer, the information displayed is "Artist: The Economist", "Album Title: March 8th - March 14 2008", "Track Number: 1" [etc]. What WMP ends up with in the Library is as follows: Artist is each of the Sections ("01 Introduction", "05 Briefings", etc). Album is "March 8th - March 14 2008". Songs are each of the audio files eg. "10 Briefing - India's Civil Service". Genre is "Books". Contributing Artist is "The Economist". Actually WMP would be OK if the contents of "Artist" and "Contributing Artist" were switched. This seems like a bug because WMP has the correct info. I do not know how WMP extracts this info from the mp3 file but it should do it in the same fashion as Windows Explorer. It does not. Has anyone run into this problem? Is there a fix?  - How to repeat play video I have a 12 minute DVD video that I would like to repeat play each time it ends. I have the "Repeat" option checked but I still have to restart the video each time it ends. Is there any way to make it restart automatically? Version 10 or 11.  - High Process Level Hi, I've been having a problem lately with WMP. I'm running WMP11 on Windows XP SP2. Everytime I connect to the internet, after about 20 minutes of WMP running, my computer will start to lag. I checked the task manager, and WMP is running at 80-90%. This has been happening everytime I connect to the internet, I've tried it offline too, and nothing happens. I'm not using WMP for anything except for playing MP3s. Is there an update I need to download to fix this, or is something wrong with my settings (I haven't touched them since I installed it.)  - WMP 11 repeating songs when playing? I have most of my CD collection (over 200 CD's) ripped to a computer with WMP 11 installed. Most days I'll boot up the computer and drag "ALL SONGS" to the playlist and it will begin to play. I have the playlist shuffled and I do not have "REPEAT" checked so I would expect that I could theoretically go thru the whole collection without hearing the same song repeated, unless I happen to have two copies of the same song in the list or if I reboot the computer and have WMP start over. However, that doesn't seem to be the way it's working. Every day I know that I hear at least one song, and usually more, repeated and I know that they aren't a song that I have more than one copy of. Is there something that I don't understand about the way WMP works or is there a flaw in my WMP 11? BTW, I'm running WMP 11 on WIN XP on that computer.  - Dual Monitor WM11 reveresed I dunno what is up. I have a ATI card on a desktop and WM11. All of a sudden the video only on WM got reveresed. The full screen is going to Screen1 and the other to Screen2. This used to work fine. Powerpoint presentations still work properly which confirms to me the settings are right.  - IE 7 My friend has been using the "Guest" account on my Windows XP machine and managed to get some Dr. Watson error. It keep shutting down IE as soon as it open but only in the Guest account, IE is fine in my personal account. I managed to get rid of the Dr. Watson error, but the once you typed anything into the address bar in IE it would shut down immediately. This I have also cured by restting ie. However the one error I cannot get rid of and cannot find on google is the following message "An exception occurred while trying to "C:\Windows\system32\inetcpl.cpl,ClearMyTracksByProcess 4351 444 179".  - Adding the contents of just one folder to My Library I download the Economist Audio edition each week and put it in a folder. The contents of the folder and titles of the audio files change each week. I need to add it to the WMP library to sync with my Sansa View Player. I delete old version from the Library and add the new one. I have all the folders in Add to Library set to Ignore except two: the Rip type which cannot be set and one I use to load the weekly Economist Audio edition. When I click OK, WMP goes through all the folders in My Music and takes forever. There are also some songs I do not want added. Is there an easy way to just have the contents of one folder "added"?  - media player album info updating Sorry if this is old stuff, but I've searched the group via google... I last used media player a couple of years ago, on XP; don't remember which version. Now, using version 11.0.6000 on Vista, preinstalled on new computer. Anyway, my problem isn't as buggy as all the complaints about update album info I see in the group previously; but I remember that in the old version, when the info fetched from the iknternet was incorrect, youj could not onlyu correct it, but then upload it back to the database where maybe it got corrected for future users? anyway, the new one doesn't seem to have that. was that just a phony option, or was it too attractive for vandals, or what? as far as bugs, might as well check, but when i update the album info, i often have to paste the album cover onto the generic icon manually. could be worse, but if there's a fix... tia.  - Media Player Cannot Rip One or more files Ever since I upgraded from xp to vista I havent been able to rip any cd's, it says "Windows Media Player Cannot rip one or more tracks from cd" when In go to web help is says " You've encountered error message C00D10D2 while using windows media player.  - H E L P ! wmv video stops mid-way in 60 sec video ?? WMP 9 & 11 on XP I have a little 60 sec video we made and rendered to wmv format. Plays fine on one computer... on another the video stops about half way through... sound keeps going... but video won't come back... even if we pause & restart... or pause, rewinde, then restart. This is on a windows XP machine running a 1.8 Ghz processor... (Dell) We had WMP 9 on it... had problem... then updated to WMP 11... rebooted, etc... deleted and recopied the video... still same problem.  - save sorting settings i am trying to sort my music library by year (both overall and within each artist) i have it to auto sort by year but for some reason the albums are all in reverse order (newest first and then going backwards through time) every time i try to correct this wmp just forgets about the change every time i change what i am looking at, and if i go back to an artist i have already changed it is back to how it was too. does anyone have any ideas?  - WMP Opens itself Recently Windows Media Player has started opening on its own. I never use this program, and I have not changed any settings on my computer which should effect it.  - Anyone got the "Remotable WMP Player Wrapper for C#" example? Hi there, Hope someone can help me. I'm currently writing a client application in C# that needs to monitor the currently playing track in iTunes, WMP and Winamp. Got it all working fine, but i really hate the WMP solution. It involves a C++ WMP background plugin using a COM visible remoted .NET object to expose the controls interface. This means I need to deal with COM registration and firewall shenanigans, and causes issues when automatically updating the application... it works, but just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. So, to my point... I'm trying to figure out how to use the IWMPRemoteMediaServices interface so that I can get details on what is currently going on in the running WMP instance. Stumbled upon a post by Eric Gunnerson here (http://blogs.msdn.com/ericgu/archive/ 2005/06/22/431783.aspx) but unfortunately MS in their infinite wisdom have pulled gotdotnet; only migrating the very latest projects to the clunky code.msdn.com :( So, did anyone grab this project at the time and still have it knocking about on their harddisk?  - Can't restore my licenses I have bought music over the years from Walmart online and saved the licenses as well as the music downloads in folders on my hard drive. It all worked fine until I recently reformatted my computer and reinstalled Windows XP SP2. After reinstalling Windows I also copied the music folders and the license backups back to my new hard drive but now when I try to play the music Media player 11 can't download media access rights and won't play the music. Also, I can't figure out how to get it to restore my licenses from my backed up files. In Media player 9 there was a menu option for restoring licenses from local folders, but I see no options for this in Media player 11. Can anyone please advise on how to restore my licenses?  - When moving mouse WMP 9 shows buttons, I do not want that! 1. I play a movie in full screen mode. 2. I accidentally move the mouse 1 micron. 3. Then suddenly all those buttons are viewable and all kinds of menu's etcetera. I never asked for that! And I cannot change these settings. Does anybody know the solution for this?  - How to prevent WMP 11 from trying to sync? My problem is that when I plug in a device (MP3 player, SD card, flash drive, etc.) while watching a video in WMP 11, it always switched from the Now Playing tab to the Sync tab.  - Track disability carrying over In the media player that comes standard with XP, there was the option to enable or disable tracks in the current playlist. With the upgraded Media Player 11, this option is not present. The problem begins when I upgrade to Media Player 11. Some tracks of a particular disk were left disabled upon upgrade, and the result is that the tracks on the disk will effectively refuse to play. I looked for a method to reenable the tracks, but the search was futile. Rolling back, enabling the disabled tracks, then reinstalling the Media Player 11 also failed to solve the problem.  - no sound device found I have a Compaq Presario SR2023wm Media Center 2005, I had to reinstall Windows Xp Professional with SP2 and when I did, I had to reinstall all the original drivers. I cannot get the sound though. I got the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver but it says I need a MS UAA High Def Audio Bus Driver.  - WIndows media player 10 wont play video of DIVX 3 low motion codec Hello, I have a problem with playback of some AVI files Windows Media Player 10 i upgraded to 11 and it still happens The video (.avi) is compressed using the DivX Codec DIVX 3 ...I already have the latest version of DivX 6.80 installed in my computer... Whenever I try to pay it on WMP 11, there will be an error message saying "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file"...I went to Web Help but it either says that I have a sound problem or that I do not have the correct codec installed. My sound works perfectly, and whenever I play the video, the sound is still able to play in the background, but no video appears. (the error message will appear of course) I tried using GSpot to double check, but the codec (used to compress the video) is Div 3. i have DIVx 3 installed. I tried uninstalling the DivX bundle and reinstalling DivX 6.8 again, but it didn't work. Also, the DIV3 videos are still playable on players like Divx player and Winamp . and VLC media player . odd thing is if i play another avi file first and then play the avi that has DIV3 it works !  - Playing whole CD's I occasionally want random selection to play whole CD's rather than individual tracks. WMP11 doesn't cater for this, but it occurred to me that if I could encode the albums as single tracks when ripping (as well as individual tracks) then I could fabricate a playlist that played the "Single Album" audio files. I don't think WMP can be persuaded to rip albums to a single audio file, and I couldn't find such as option in either Exact Audio Copy or CDEX.  - Windows Media Player - flashes green during playback Hi - On my Dell laptop XP Media Center, when I record a TV program and then play it back through the Windows Media Player, the screen will flash green during playback. Explica y pon ejemplos. Kant dice que para la ilustración sólo se requiere la libertad para poder hacer uso público de la razón en todos los asuntos. El uso público de la razón debe ser siempre libre y éste sólo puede logrear realizar la ilustración entre los hombres. Kant entiende por uso público de la propia razón el que hace cualquiera como intelectual ante su público del universo de lectores y entiende por uso privado, el uso que está permitido hacer de su razón cuando se le confía cierta responsabilidad o un cargo civil. La razón en su uso público, en tanto que especialista en algo, o en tanto que ciudadano o ser humano, podemos y estamos obligados a criticar. Pero, en su uso privado, en tanto que partes de un engranaje social en el cual cumplimos una función debemos obedecer las normas. Por ejemplo, un oficial al que sus superiores le ordenan algo, quisiera, estando al servicio, exponer sus razones en voz alta acerca de la utilidad de esa orden, él tiene que obedecer. Sin embargo en justicia, no se le puede prohibir que en cuanto intelectual critique o haga comentarios sobre los errores del servicio militar y los exponga a consideración del - Una alumna padece la injusticia de un profesor; en respuesta, boicotea la clase ¿debe hacer esto, según Kant? No. Como alumna haciendo uso privado de su razón debe obedecer al profesor y las normas impuestas por el centro, y no puede boicotear la clase. Ahora bien, como ser humano y ante una injusticia boicotea la clase haciendo uso público de la -Un profesor francés de filosofía ha publicado un artículo contra la religión musulmana donde sostiene que el Corán es muy violento y lo vincula con el terrorismo. Según parece ha sido amenazado . Relaciónalo con el uso público/privado de Kant y da tu opinión. El profesor al publicar el artículo ha hecho uso público de la razón, como filósofo y como ser humano. En su calidad de funcionario de educación y ciudadano de un Estado laico debería haberlo escrito haciendo uso privado de la razón. Como funcionario está obligado a cumplir las normas. Mi opinión es que el profesor hizo bien en publicar el artículo y expresar libremente su opinión y criticar, y fue valiente al hacerlo y no temer a las consecuencias, amenazas y represalias. El profesor optó por su libertad para expresarse públicamente sin tener en cuenta que como persona podría correr peligro -Opina sobre la distinción Kantiana uso público/uso privado de la razón. Kant sostiene que el uso público de la razón debe ser siempre libre y el uso privado tiene que limitarse. En mi opinión criticar y obedecer son las dos caras de este uso de la razón. Tenemos libertad para expresar nuestras ideas sobre todos los asuntos y criticar haciendo uso de esa libertad pero el límite de mi crítica está en las leyes y normas de mi país, que me obligan como ciudadano a obedecer y cumplirlas, porque sino la sociedad no funcionaría. 3 - Sería posible, según Kant, establecer una norma, o una constitución política como definitiva?¿por qué?¿Cuál sería la piedra de toque?¿Podrías relacionar todo esto con algún aspecto más actual? No, es imposible, porque impediría cualquier ilustración posterior del género humano, se colocaría en una situación que le sería imposible ampliar sus conocimientos, deshacerse de errores y avanzar hacia la ilustración. La piedra de toque de todo lo que sobre un pueblo se puede determinar en cuanto ley, se encuentra en la cuestión acerca de si un pueblo se puede imponer o no a sí mismo una ley como -Yo quiero ser inculto, ¿tengo, moralmente, derecho según Kant?¿Por qué? No tenemos derecho a ser ignorantes, pues frenamos el desarrollo de la humanidad. -¿Qué entiende Kant por progresar? La naturaleza humana contiene una finalidad: la de desarrollar todas sus facultades( por ejemplo. La razón y la libertad). Esta tendencia a perfeccionarse (a ir a mejor) actúa como causa y finalidad de toda la historia humana, y es lo que le da sentido. El progreso sería el desarrollo de las capacidades humanas. 4 -" No vivimos en una época ilustrada, sino de ilustración". Explica y compara con nuestra época. En aquella época faltaba mucho para que los hombres, tal como estaban las cosas, se sirvieran de su propio entendimiento sin la dirección de algún otro por eso dice Kant que no vivían en una época ilustrada. Pero es de la ilustración o el siglo de Federico ( Federico el Grande, monarca ilustre, tolerante en materia religiosa y abierto al desarrollo ilimitado) porque liberó por primera vez al género humano de la minoría de edad y dejó en libertad a cada cual para servirse de su propia razón. La ilustración es sobre todo, una reivindicación de la libertad y de la emancipación respecto de cualquier sujeción o dependencia. La ilustración marca antes y un después en lo cultural y en lo político, a partir de ella países de Europa y EE.UU. hicieron sus revoluciones políticas y se crearon sistemas democráticos en los que los ciudadanos gozaron de todas las libertades. En otros países se Europa como España, la ilustración no tuvo tanta influencia y consecuencia de ello fue que siguiera sin libertades. Han tenido que pasar siglos para conseguir una sociedad con libertades (democrática) como lo que tenemos ahora, en lenguaje Kantiano una sociedad con ciudadanos con ciudadanos mayores de edad. Opiniones, críticas. El libro es un ensayo con titulo en forma de pregunta. Kant es un pensador ilustrado, su filosofía y este libro no puede ser comprendido si no es desde la perspectiva de los intereses e ideales de la ilustración, por tanto hay que ponerse en aquella época. Los ideales de la ilustración (individuos libres, el ser humano se hace a sí mismo, naturaleza perfectible, sociedad no estética sino en progreso, ciudadanos capaces de saber y decidir por sí mismos, antidogmática y sin verdades absolutas) los comparto todos, pero son ideales. Kant cree que ha llegado la hora en la que el hombre se haga cargo de su vida y decida por sí mismo. Por ello se pregunta ¿Qué es la ilustración? Dice que es la salida del hombre de la minoría de edad causada por él mismo. Empieza planteando el problema: la minoría de edad del hombre. A continuación las razones, propuesta para solucionarlo y qué se requiere para ello. Kant mantiene que para la ilustración no se requiere más que libertad y que una sociedad ilustrada hará posible ciudadanos más relacionados, más conscientes de sus obligaciones y, por tanto, mejores. Pienso que en parte tenía razón, la libertad es imprescindible para poder hacer uso de la razón en todos los asuntos. Ahora tenemos todas las libertades, de pensamiento, expresión etc. Pero estas libertades están condicionadas también por los prejuicios sociales que siguen existiendo, si soy valiente y me enfrento a esos prejuicios y seré libre verdaderamente sin limitaciones. Yo pienso así, pero todos no somos ni pensamos igual. Por esto creo que la educación, la cultura y el conocimiento de las cosas hará que tengamos criterio propio y la sociedad en su conjunto tendrá menos prejuicios. No estoy de acuerdo con Kant cuando dice que un cambio de gobierno no cambiaría la forma de pensar, pienso que sí, según qué gobierno podría ayudar a cambiar la forma de pensar. Las críticas que hago es que Kant olvida el contexto social de nuestros comportamientos. Nos pide excesiva pureza moral ante la impureza de la realidad social. Kant dice que no tenemos derecho a ser ignorante, pues frenamos el desarrollo de la humanidad, me parece que se excede en el concepto de humanidad y no da valor al ser humano como individuo al poner sus actos bajo la idea de humanidad.
