    - Windows Media Player 10 I can't edit my song titles any more on Windoes Media Player 10. I use to be able to change them around (sometimes, singer was first, or title was first, etc) after playing them but now, but now it will not allow me to do change anything anymore. "EDIT' "RATE" and "MOVE DOWN" stay light and I can't adjust anything in those areas. I must have pushed the wrong button and changed something. Can anyone tell me how to get this back to normal?????     - How to save still shot off a video played on WMP I can play a video with my grandchilderns playing. Some pictures are so good that I would like to grab them as still pictures.     - WMP 11 no longer has songs in library. When i turned on my WMP 11 this morning it told me that there where no songs in my library. last night when i went to bed, there where over 2500 songs in the library. I have been using WMP for a while and now it is total not responding. it will not let me add any music to the library, it says that a "component is missing" when i try to use media sharing. You usually will not find a single player that will play all of these, although some players such as WMP can have codec plugins added to play more of them. Notice the many different extensions used for AAC sound - some are mp4 and some not. Just what will happen when you click on a song depends on what players you have, if they have any plugins added, what player is primary for what format, and what browser you are using. The QT player plays many of these formats as delivered, and the Real 11 player also plays several. The GOM player also will play several as delivered. Since the original recording is over 100 years old coming from the early acoustic years, I have encoded all examples at 32kbps mono since a higher rate adds little or nothing for this very early recording. The wav file from the analog source has been greatly processed to improve the sound as much as possible, but there is only so much you can do with such an early recording. The opal is charged in wmp and I have some cds I added in there and they play fine in the opal and it has a video that came with it. but the music I buy in itunes won't transfer into wmp or go into the OPAL.     - Syncing to portable device I bought a SanDisk sansa m240, and I had been listening to NetLibrary eAudiobooks on it. Recently, however, I can't. The files that I could play before now tell me that I need to resynchronize (though they haven't expired). In Windows Media Player (I can't figure out what version I have without the menu bar), which I use to sync, the files have little "i"s next to them saying "Not supported by device". Clearly, it HAD been supported by my device, and I don't see why anything should have changed. I can still syncronize, and when I look under properties my rights look fine and I still have 3 syncs left. I don't know if I should believe WMP and blame my device, or if WMP is messing up the transfer.     - syncing music to portable device I have Windows XP home edition and just recently downloaded the Windows media 11 vs. I'm trying to sync my music to a 2gb SD card so I can listen to it on my phone. I have a LG VX855V01 Chocolate. I've formatted the card to my phone, and set up windows media for manually syncing the music. I've clicked on "shuffle music" link and had the list successfully load. The memory storage icon showed that the same was being taken up. then I clicked on the "start sync". The library changes to the sync results under 'USB SD reader' and it looks as if it is trying to sync. It has said "preparing to sync", but then after a second or two it stops. Every song says 'stopped' in the results bar. Also the sync list on the right hand screen disappears and it says then "you may disconnect sd reader" but no music was transfered.     - Won't Play Correct CD Hello, I know there is probably a simple way to fix this but obviously I cannot figure it out! Today I put in a cd, because I wanted to rip a couple songs from there to my library, and when I put the cd in, Windows Media Player comes up with a whole different cd than the one I put in. Greetings all, I have a video file (college lectures in wmv format) and I'd like to be able to hyperlink to specific times in the files (like where a specific topic is being discussed at the 23-minute mark). Hyperlinking would be done from a word file (and may involve having a macro call an external program to open WMP from the command line). I checked the command line options for WMP and saw nothing that seems to offer this capability. Is there any way to open WMP-11 to a specific time in a video file? Also, I'd ideally have the player play a specified duration of the file (like from 23:01 to 23:45) where a topic is discussed; is this also possible from WMP? If this is not possible with WMP, do you have a suggestion for other video players or ways I can do this (besides chopping up the video file into topic-specific sections)?     - removing songs from my mp3 player I have an rca jet mp3 player and have not had any problems until yesterday. Suddenly I can no longer remove songs from my player. It starts to remove the file and gets to 33 or 66% then freezes. There is no error message and if I unplug the player and then plug it in again, the song is removed.     - Latest WMP 11 update no longer sees my firewire speaker connection After installing the newest update (11.0.5721.5230), I am unable to play any audio files through my firewire connection. I do home recording, and have used this setup for years with no problem. WMP says there may be a problem with my sound device, though no changes have taken place. I confirmed that no preferences have changed, and that everything is still routed correctly. Today's Jeopardy category is "Strange decisions Microsoft made back in 1996,
and the strange ways you still run into those decisions today."

I could be wrong about 1996, but it stems from about then. Clearly Play is
Play, but --- what is Open as an executable verb? If I Open the Word
document, I'm viewing it. If I Open a music file --- ?!?
