HELP!!! WMP for Vista doesnt play videos anymore, only audio

HELP!!! WMP for Vista doesnt play videos anymore. It used to play these files
but now it doesnt. It only plays WMV files. When i try to play a non-WMV
file, it says at the left bottom corner "codec acquired" but still no video,
only audio. What happened? i ddnt tweak anything. Yesterday i could still
play those videos, now it doesnt. Please help me. I tried searching the
forums here but all i get are links to more columns. Can u please reply here
instead of directing me to another forum. Thanks

That indicates the codec on the system doesn't work right.

What file types are affected? What codecs do they use?
