AVI Files

Hi,

I am not able to play AVI files, i have WMP11 with K-Lite codec pack 3.9.5
and Power DVD 8 Deluxe. It doesnt plays in Windows Media Player Classic too.
Few files plays but many doesnt.

Any suggestions ?

Are you getting nothing or sound without a picture? If the latter, these are
probably DiVX files and you need the DiVX codec:

http://labs.divx.com/Codec

You just need the codec; not all the other stuff they try and push on you.

When i play through WMP, i dont get any error and it tries to connnect to
online store. When i play through the Windows Media Classic gets a message
"Cannot render this file". I understand it is the problem with the codec but
i am not getting the right codec. Let me try this and will let you know.

What errors do you get?
What codecs do the files use?

Using "codec packs" is a poor solution since you only need one or two
codecs. If you just keep throwing codecs at the problem you're not really
doing anything at all to solve the problem. =\

I used GSpot to find the codecs used by the file but it was not successfull.
It doesnt shows any. Where do you want me to look for the error?

If GSpot or other AVI tool cannot identify the codecs used by the file, it
sounds like you have bogus or corrupt files that would not be expected to
work. At that point you would likely want to reacquire working copies of
the files.
