    - WMP11 Playlist I made a new file for FLAC Files to be added toWMP11 list, I installed OGGCODECS. There are two flac files, One was added to library the other to playlist in WMP11. The one in library I had to edit details manually and plays OK. The one in playlist as far as I know cannot be put in library, I've tried almost everything. It plays OK also.     - Starting problem Media Player does not start a movie on dvd in a normal way on my desktop, while on laptop no problem. Both machines XP sp3 and video data rate while burning is normal (6000). When selecting one of the movies in the menu, it starts indeed but does not continue. Screen shows (almost black) the menu and pauze/start does not help. Has anyone experience with this problem which only occurs on my desktop, Laptop starts fine. Would appreciate help.     - Can't Transfer WMA file (e-audiobook) to Sansa e250R I've been trying over and over again to transfer an e-audiobook to my Sansa e250R mp3 player. I downloaded it from our local library and I can play it on my computer without problem but when I try syncing it to my mp3 player I get the following error message: An error occurred while attempting to transfer "Surprised by Joy-Part01.wma". Error details: Unable to transfer the selected title because [Insert3] returned 0xC00D2772 I deleted some files from my mp3 in the event it was a space problem. I tried transferring only one part of the audiobook but the same error message continues to come up. According to my library web site, my mp3 model is a compatible device so that's not the issue. I can play the book through my Windows Media Player and thought that perhaps while the book was in the Now Playing section of the Media Player that I might be able to select it and Sync it to my mp3. That didn't work either. When I dragged the first chapter to my mp3 player and clicked on Start Sync I got a red "x" dot next to the part I tried adding. When I clicked on the red "x" I got the following message: It is not possible to obtain device's certificate. Please contact the device manufacturer for a firmware update or for other steps to resolve this problem. I then clicked on "Web Help" to get more details on this error message. This is what I got: This error might have been triggered by an error in another program or component of Windows. This is why I'm hoping somebody here can help me narrow down the problem. I also tried syncing my mp3 using Best Buy Digital Music Store. Again, I could play the e-audiobook from there over my computer but couldn't get the book transfered to the mp3 player. Here are some of the particulars: * Trying to transfer an e-audiobook to my Sansa e250 * OverDrive Media Console version 3.0 (software downloaded from library's web site) * Windows Media Player 11 * Operating system: Windows XP If anyone can offer any help it would be greatly appreciated!     - Sound but no video, messed up menus in WMP 11 Hello, Yesterday i went to play a wmv file in WMP 11 and there was audio, but no video. No type of video file works correctly now, only playing audio. And i do have the show video option selected. Also, the enhancements menu is blank when it comes up, which means i can't change color, graphic equalizer, etc. I 've tryed other sources for help but so far nothing works. I have tried to roll back to wmp 10 to reinstall wmp 11 but i have to roll back to 9 beacuse it says that 10 is incompatible with windows. I've reinstalled it now about three times and it still does not work, and shen i was rolled back wmp 9 had the same problems. I have had WMP 11 since it was released, and no problems until now.     - saving modified music files Hello Everyone, After I rip new music onto my computer I frequently modify the files using the Advanced Tag Editor, genre, mood etc. All my music files are then loaded onto an external hard drive for safe keeping. Is all this new info saved onto my hard disc. If I have a main hard disc failure and have to reload the music from my back up files will I have to go back in and re-modify all the songs? Also, how do I save my playlists? I have made many playlists but when I transferred all the files to another computer, all the music was there but no playlists.     - WMP Deleted it's library Hi, today WMP11 just decided to crash and came up with a message, I cannot remember exactly what it said, that basically said that WMP had crashed and the library had malfunctioned, but it would readd all the music next time it started. So I restarted it, and none of the music would add to the library. And when I go into the Add settings pressing F3, the folders it scans are removed, so I add the ones to the list I want it to search and press OK. But this still does not add any media to my library, and then when I check to see if the folders I chose were still there, they are not. I have absolutely no idea what is going on, and I would much appreciate help on how to sort this out, or even how to reinstall it on Vista.     - Multiple folders created when syncing one CD I just purchased a wolverine esp media player. I used wmp11 to sync and it worked fine for a while.     - Window Media Player 11 codecs (problems) I wish MS, would paste this on there website, How to play 99% of all video & audio media out there.     - Ripping CD's with media player 11 I just got MP 11, for the longest time it didn't work so I went back to 9. And one day my MP updated to 11 and it appeared to work now "HOWEVER" when I rip cd's they go to my music files which is correct but they do not go to my MP Library and I can't move them from my music to the MP. I loaded the file into mplayer2 and it asked to download "WMV-9 VCM RTW" which I did, and it played fine there (mplayer2) but still won't play in wmp.     - No video in limited account after SP3 Hi, WMP11 doesn't play video, just audio, since recently. I've tried MPG, WMV and AVI encoded with DIVX. This is in my everyday limited Windows account, an administrator account (any one) can play video all right. It was working fine before. I don't know exactly where things went wrong since I'm not playing movies all the time, but I recently upgraded my XP home to SP3. I tried downloading WMP11 and just re-installing it but an error is displayed at the end saying the program wasn't installed. The next time I run WMP a welcome configuration windows is displayed, but then the problem isn't solved.     - wmp11 appcrash Hi, every time I try to open a file with wmp11 (mp3, avi, mpeg..... everything), I get a "stop responding" window.     - WMP11 - Vista X64 - VC-1 - C00D1199 Hello chaps and ladies, I installed Vista x64 the other day, and did what I normally did on Vista x86 which is to install the Community Codec Pack. However having done that, it was not working as expected, so I removed that, did some hunting around and installed the Vista Codec Pack and then the x64 components pack. With those installed, everything worked except for wmvhd (vc-1) content. In order to rule out any encoding issues with the file I downloaded the amazing caves sampled from the Microsoft site. When I play any VC-1 content WMP sulks and says: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." If I click on the web help it reports I have error "C00D1199". At this stage I have removed all the codec packs I had installed since I just want to get windows back to its vanilla state. I cannot seem to manage to do that..... Any suggestions? As a side note, I downloaded Media Player Classic last night, and it *does* play back VC-1 content...... Help!     - importing vcr files on dvd into media player/media centre This is a repeat request! Vcr tapes were recorded, on a domestic m/c. to DVD.The DVD was placed in the pc.and the file was opened in Windows Explorer. The VOB files was changed to MPEGs and opened with Media Centre via Media Player. Each file played with video and audio but only for a few seconds instead of the several minutes I was expecting.     - WMP11 does not want to play cds Hi all - I recently upgraded to Vista Ultimate and since then I have not been able to get cds that I normally play to play past a given point. It will start playing for about 60 seconds and then it will pop up a msg; Windows Media Player cannot read the CD. The disc might be dirty or damaged. Turn on error correction, and then try again. These same discs were read before and are read on other players - I even replaced both drives (had intended to already) with the ASU Lightscribes and still stops at the same point and throws error msg.     - WMP11 on Vista SP1 will not play any music or video - Error C00D11 Hello there, I have always downloaded music from anywhere and ripped music from CD's to my computer and until about 3 days ago everything was fine. Now for some reason WMP11 does not want to play anything.     - wmpnetwk.exe and task manager I/O read bytes In trying to diagnose why my laptop is slower than normal and that the hard disk is being accessed far to much I looked at Windows Task Manager. It shows that WMPnetwk.exe has I/O read bytes at 11.744 GBytes even although I am not connected to any other computer. WMPnetwk.exe has a CPU time of 0:02.34 and only Kaspersky anti virus had a higher time. Currently I only have two AVI files totalling 1.5GB and no music files on my laptop.     - Auto List of Never Played Songs In Windows Media Player ... is there a way to create an auto play-list that will contain only songs never played? It seems to me if I create an auto list that says "Date Last Played is before 5 Years" I should get the songs that I have never played as well as any that I have not played in the last 5. But, if I put that criteria in my auto-list definition I get no songs. I tried to manually change the .wpl file, but nothing I tried seemed to work. Or is there advanced search syntax that can give me the same thing? One thing I realize I can do is sort by Last Played and get all those never played at the top. But, I would like to listen to these in random order (Shuffled) Not a huge deal, but I think it would be a good feature to have (and maybe it is already there... I just cannot figure it out).     - WM11 Hotfix for Readyboost in Vista? When I use Readyboost via an SD card, I keep getting "Windows Media Player Stopped Working" messages. As soon as I stop Readyboost, remove the SD card, and reboot, then Windows Media Player 11 starts working again. I noticed there was a Hotfix for this problem available for XP.     - Can WMP11 ignore a USB flash stick? I just bought myself a rather big (32GB) flash stick for storing pictures and stuff. Now, when I insert the flash stick, WMP starts using like 50% of my CPU time... I assume that it's scanning the device for media (and finding plenty) but I really would prefer if it didn't. Does anyone know what WMP might be doing? And is there a way I can make it stop? I tried waiting, thinking that eventually WMP would get tired of looking through my samey holiday photos, but I gave up after a few trillion clock-cycles. I'm having a hard time finding the synchronization settings but I believe it's set to "manual". Of course, there is an easy work-around - closing Windows Media Player - but I actually do enjoy listening to music while I use my PC...     - WMV file made on MM1 does not play on WMP Hi to all Since I use WMP (9 and 10) I always had problems with some wmv files (not all), but because they always oppened on Winanp, etc. and were not edited by me, I didn't bother. But now I have some older wmv files edited on MM1 that once played on WMP 9 (in this computer) and now don't!     - Re-ripping CDs I ripped a number of my classical CDs as fairly low bitrate MP3 and would like to rip them again as lossless WMA. However, I find that when I insert an already ripped CD which is already in my WMP media library, WMP does not pick up the details that I entered when previously ripping the CD, and I have to enter the details again.     - WMP 11 - when playing an AVI file , it tries to find a codec already I have windows XP and WMP 11 .didnt happen with WMP 9. anyway when u open a AVI file with Codec MP42 S Mpeg 4 ver 2 and ALAW sound codec even though it alrady has it, WMP tries to go to the internet to find it. The file does play but no sound so i think it may be the audio codec. I see the message flash by "error downloading codec".odd thing if u play another AVI file you can then play this file again and the sound works . i got this info from GSPOT. This issue involves Windows XP Home

I was checking my system, and found two installations of media player 11.
Checkit Diagnostics reported it, and it was confirmed by reviewing
my Registry.
One installation is listed under program files/media player,
but the second installation is listed under the Windows directory.

My question is: which installation should I un-install, and
should I use the un-install string in the registry, or the one
listed in the Control Panel in Settings?

Or: Should I un-install both and start over?
