    - cannot install I have used Windows Media Player forever. Recently my 11 started bogging down and stalling.     - Can't hear audio anymore I've been listening to a local radio station via Windows Media Player 11 using their link mms://72.236.125.114/wrtt . Yesterday the sound stopped playing. WinMedia Player still connects fine ... no error messages. Everything appears to be playing, but I can't hear a darn thing! Yes, I've checked my earphones, making sure they're still plugged in tight, etc. Rebooted. Reloaded WinMedia Player 11. Etc. Thing is, I can still listen to song samples at Amazon, can still listen to CDs, can still hear everything else using WinMedia Play ... except my radio station. What's wrong? I have both proxy settings set to None. All the network options on the Tools > Options > Network tab are checked. (I unchecked all but HTTP, but then the station wouldn't even connect, so I put the settings back to they way they were.) Help! It's hard to get through the work day without my streaming radio!     - Foldes not showing up in Library I received several mp3 folders, but some of the sub-directories are not appearing in the library. I can get to them from windows explorer. One example is my Allman Brothers folder which has 4 folders(sub-directories) under it which are specific albums, but only 2 of the 4 appear in the library. I spent 2 days creating a playlist, then when I went to remove one of the songs from the list, I clocked the red x in the right hand pane, which apparently erases the entire playlist!     - Renaming MP3 Files Does anyone know if it's possible for WMP11 to rename underlying MP3 filenames using info from WMP11's tags? For example, I want to use a track's WMP11 artist name, album name, track number and track name tags to rename the MP3 file underlying that same library track. My issue is that although my library is pretty organized (20k+ tracks) using the tags within WMP11 , the underlying MP3 filenames are unchanged from their original filenames and do not always have complete or consistent information. As well, if I ever exported these tracks to another computer, I want to remove the risk that the tags won't be recognized, as has happened to me before when transitioning from one program to another (e.g. from MMJB to WMP). FWIW, MusicMatch JukeBox had a cool feature where you could "reverse tag" your files wherein it references the tag information to derive a new name for each track in the batch of tracks you have selected (even the whole library if you wanted - it would just take a while).     - wmp won't recognize sony mp3 player that included version 11 wmp I have checked my usb ports and they are working. When I connect my mp3, the window comes up and asks if I want to use wmp. I say yes. My mp3 came with a CD with napster promotional, mp3 operating guide and wmp version 11. I have all my music transferred, ( I was very happily using musicmatch previously) and created a playlist that I have dragged to the sync box. However, the start sync button and connect to device buttons are inactive. When I click sync at the top, it only gives me 3 options: refresh devices (which I have done and it says it's completed), more options which lists my CD drive, display and speakers, and help with sync which has not been useful.     - WMP error after 6/25 updates. Yesterday morning at around 8:30am, Windows Update informed of a usual round of updates from Microsoft for my system. I let them automatically install as normal. I am on Windows Vista, and keep my system and programs frequently updated. Shortly thereafter, when using Windows Media Player, I encountered the following error popup whenever attempting to play a media file: (The file's visual aspects will still play, but the audio will not, and obviously the popup prevents using any commands.) "Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct."     - Editing the WMP Library I've ripped several hundred vinyl LP's to WMP11. I've also had to "find album info" on the web to add track titles, artist, composer and cover art. All of my files are wav files. Now, I need to move my media files from my local computer to a NAS. However, when I move the .wav files and have WMP rebulid the library database, all of my vinyl LP tracks get thrown into one "Unknow" album and I lose all of the cover art for all of my albums (including CD's that I ripped using WMP 11.     - Wrong CD Info I bought a new CD today from Big W (Department store here in Australia) and when I try to play the disc it brings up an older album by the same artist. It's driving me nuts. Would be great if we had more options for shuffling rather than a single button which shuffles through all songs.     - Cannot Play .ASX files in WMP11 after installing Nero Essentials 7 I am having truble playing audio/video streams from websites using WMP. I have WMP11 and am using Windows XP Home. I don't know it there is a connection between NERO and WMP I have a a laptop without NERO on it and the links work flawlessly. So thatis why I suspect NERO. Has anyone one else experienced this?     - No audio or default sounds, error message Hi all, My computer is suffering from some horrible symptoms at the moment; it cannot even cough a sound. The only sound it can make is the default ringing when the computer starts. The computer crashed while I tried to load a video file on a local news channel (it's WMP plug-in). An error message/solution appeared in bubble at the taskbar, clicked it, and a message glaring at me in blue said, "a program that uses the waveOutWrite" function on a Windows Vista-based computer: "MMSYSERR_NODRIVER". There was a link, which I obviously followed. I followed the link for the 32-bit systems, opened it after installation, and nothing happened. Searched on Microsoft for "936316" and updated my system with the Service Package. Again, I got nothing. Checked, and I have an audio driver installed--Realteck High Definition Audio. Now, can someone kindly help me to at least pinpoint this ghastly disease? Is this a problem with the OS or the computer itself?     - MIDI played by another program? I am trying to view a page that has a MIDI file embedded into it. However, right now Realplayer tries to play the file, and I get some lousy error pop-up.     - WM 11 will display every other video in a secondary monitor. When playing AVI, MPG, and MPEG videos WM 11 will play the first video on the external display, desktop picture is displayed on the second video and the third video is displayed on the external display. This happens with all videos added to the play list. If I double click the video that is not displayed it will play on the external display. There is no consecutive display of videos via the WM player. There are three videos cued up in the playlist. 1st is displayed on the external monitor, second video only plays video and the third goes back to video. HELP!!!     - Breaks in shared music when programs open When I try to use WMP 11 on XP to share mp3 files I get breaks in the music whenever my computer opens a program. This does not appear to be a problem with my network or playback device (d-link 320) or indeed with resources on my computer. I can have a dozen programs open and running, including memory and CPU resource hogs like an anti-virus program doing a check, a backup program running, huge files being copied over the network, and the music sharing works just fine. But if one little new program opens, it can be Notepad, or Calculator even, there is inevitable a break in the music being shared. Is there any solution to this problem?     - WMP 11 Library Entries Point to Folders on Removable Disk - disapp I keep my media folders on an external USB hard drive, which I move around from machine to machine. I have added the drive letter and folder to the WMP11 monitored folders and also made it the default destination for ripping CD output. However, after removing the USB drive and reattaching it sometime later, the WMP11 library has "forgotten" about the folders and album information and must re-scan and repopulate the library catalog every time.     - WMP11 fails to open MP332 Hi all... Pleasant evening to you... Recently, I purchased a new portable media device, and downloaded two audiobooks. I was able to play them both in my ZEN as well as on my Base Con' with WMP11... To recoupe some memory, I decided to burn them to CD, and delete them from my hard drive. Then - upon researching to see if I had indeed orchestrated a workable backup archive, I cannot get WMP11 to open the files. They do show up on the E: drive as being there, in MP332 format, but I can't get them to open with WMP11 or Alsong. If anyone has any ideas, in an EZ to follow format, please shoot me a line and lend a hand.     - Choppy Play of MP3s I am getting very frustrated with WMP 11. Playback of any of my MP3 files (and I have thousands) includes a gap, like a skip on cds or old LPs, at least 2 per minute. I have increased the Network Buffering setting from 5 to 40 seconds without any change in the problem. This is the only player that performs like this, and I also use Rhapsody and ITunes. I am running Vista Ultimate, 4GB of RAM, and 3.00 GHZ dual core CPU. If anyone else has had this problem, and fixed it, let me know.     - Library I have a Dell Inspirion 700M, running Windows XP. I have had Windows Media Player 11 installed and working perfectly on my computer for a while. Recently, I installed a Windows Update and my entire Media Player library was deleted, and now I can't add anything back to it.     - WMP 11 Anyone get this? Another Media Player question. Installed a new HD. Installed XP Home, no problem. Tried installing Media Player 11. It wouldn't install, so i tried reverting to MP 10. It says MP 10 isn't compatible with 'this version of Windows'. My Windows update automatically installed service pack 3 and apparently MP 10 is not compatible with the new service pack. Tried installing MP11 again, and again. It takes literally hours to install and at the end it says MP 11 couldn't be installed because of an error. It gives me error code 80070001. When tried finding out what it is on the Microsoft website I come up with nothing. Right now I'm using MP9 but I don't like the way it's laid out, so I'd really like MP10 or MP11.     - Choppy Playback and Stuttering I am currently using a Compaq Presario C700 series notebook with Vista Home Premium on it. For whatever odd reason, whenever I try and play some songs, (all songs are .mp3) it stutters and jumps around almost as if it was a CD that had a scratch and was skipping. I have looked around but have haven't seen anyone else with this problem, except for the thing with the Dells, but that doesn't help me much. I'm running WMP 11. The strangest thing is that it only has this problem on some songs, and it seems to switch songs, sometimes it is one, and then if I go to play it at another time, it seems to be alright. 2. Set Up Sync.
3. Available playlists.
I saw this menu chain work on another PC, but it's not working on mine - the
Available Playlists menu option does not show anywhere in the menus.

Found my own answer: the Available Playlists appeared as an option AFTER I
had set WMP11 Automatically Sync.
