I am seeing system files such as AlmartArt_{...}.jpg and AlbumArtSmall.jpg in
my My Music Folder. Are these files created by Windows Media Player?

This is becoming quite a nuisance since i am trying to keep my folder synced
clean across multiple computers.

Yes - it creates multiple variants of the album artwork at different
sizes. Making them files means it doesn't have to look them up on the
internet every time you load the album view in the library.

Synctoy should help greatly in keeping those together across PCs :

Thanks.

I am actually using FolderShare for a more seamless experience and these
AlbumArt jpeg files (which apparrently also creates a folder.jpg and
desktop.ini file for folder customization automatically) is doubling my file
count in my music folder and becoming quite a nuisance .

The file count's not so much of a problem unless you're running out of
file handles in windows, which is pretty unlikely. The total file size
would usually be under 100k, which is a pretty small overhead (~0.2%
or lower) compared to the actual media files.

So I guess I'm not sure I understand the issue - these files are only
per album, not per track. What is it that's actually worrying you ?

It sometimes irritates me that the (typically) four JPG files detract
from my concentration on the music (files).

In WMP's defence, it *has* made the JPG files both System and Hidden so
unless you go out of your way, you wouldn't normally know they were there!
