    - Cannot connect/syn my Nokia phone Just bought a new Nokia 3120c phone with music player and a 4gb memory card and WMP 11 won't connect or sync to it. In fact it won't recognize my wife's 6085 either. The "Connect a device" icon in the top right corner is just numb, sort of. Both devices show in regular file management in Windows Vista Home Premium however (we're using a Delkin Bluetooth USB adapter/dongle).     - Question: Arrangement of songs in playlists I'm using Windows XP and WMP11. Why is it that when I drag songs into a playlist with this version, it auto arranges all the songs in the list. I want to be able to drag a new song into the list and it appear at the bottom of the list so that the songs are played in the order I add them. Can anyone tell me how to change this setting?     - stream from mediatomb? Hi, I've got a mediatomb UPNP Streaming server in our network. Windows Vista network finds it and it even opens media player 11 after doubleclick. But I can't find it inside the media player. Same thing happens with the streaming function of our nas. Appears in network, but not in Media player. What am I doing wrong?     - Am I nucking futs? Excuse my French! :) It is late and I'm quite likely making an elementary mistake. The problem started when I tried to play a downloaded .avi file in Windows Media Player 11 on Win XP Pro SP2. This is the link for the avi: http://freeworld.thc.org/root/phun/video/thc-scan2.avi When I play it, I see the visualizations, no video, but I can hear the sound just fine. So I assume I have to download a codec for .avi files, but my understanding is that WMP11 does this automagically. If not, I can't find a way to do it. And when I go to MS's Help and Support, there is no mention (at least that I can find) of WMP11, I only get to select from WMP9 (and below) or WMP10.If I search on WMP11, I get pointed to a troubleshooting page that doesn't have this issue, and if I try to get more help, it points me to an email support option, but only for WMP10? :( Kinf people, help me out.     - cannot download mp11 I once had media player at 11 attached to my Vista program, and it was working well. For some reason I began running into trouble with media player 11 and my computer does not recognize it anymore. I cannot find it in my program management. I cannot find it in my finder. It appears to be nowhere on my computer. When I try to download a new program MP 11. It tells me that I already have a newer copy on my computer thus it cannot download the newest copy from Microsoft. I cannot find MP 11 on my computer to get rid of it. And I can't download a new MP 11. So, what do I do, how do I get rid of this ghost program MP 11?     - burned cds will only play on computer Hi all. I've burned loads of compilations cds in the past but just got Vista home premium with media player 11.0.6001.7000 When I burn music to a CD with Media Player it plays fine on the computer but on any other machine it comes up as one track of around 60 minutes of complete silence. I also have Roxio Creator 9 and there is no problems with that, it burns cd's fine, so the problem must be with Media Player. It goes through all the usual motions, preparing the files, writing the files and says at the end finalizing disc, there's nothing visually different to normal.     - 10 to 9 downgrade I've got an Archos Gmini 402 and it won't sync with windows media player 10, i've spoken to Archos and they have told me that it will only work with wimdows media player 9.     - WMP library won't access iTunes/iPod files on my computer I'm trying to load my WMP library with the thousands of songs I have in my iTunes library. As I understand, WMP will play MPEG-4 files.     - Share Media--Not Working I cannot get WMP 11 to share media, the message that pops up is: Media sharing is currently disabled, either because the sharing service is not running or your firewall settings have changed. To restart sharing, you must first confirm your sharing settings. I have checked and re-checked the firewall and it is set up to share media. There is no clue in the message that points to which services may not be started. Would appreciate ANY troubleshooting advice. My operating system is Vista Home Premium but also have same generic error message with no sharing on my Windows XP Pro machine.     - Will WMP10 work with SP3 Working with a freshly reformatted, reinstalled laptop with XP SP3. Due to the need to view webcasts from a specific site, we had to install WMP. After viewing the posts on WMP11, we decided to go with WMP10. (The website says 9 or higher is fine) When we try to open the webcast by selecting play with WMP... we get an error screen advising WMP is not on the system. If I check add/remove programs, wmp is not listed!!! I downloaded again, turned off all other programs (including AV, AS etc)... and the program installed and opened and connected to the web... but still does not show up in Add/Remove programs - and I still get the error message from the website that WMP is not installed. We can access the webcast from other PCs with WMP10 or WMP11... and these machines show WMP in Add/Remove programs... this one still does not.     - WMP 9 how to save a radio station without incredible frustration This should be so simple, but I haven't been able to save a radio station that's playing in WMP 9. When I try Add to Media Libray/Add currently playing track, nothing happens...that is it isn't added to any of the folders or playlists show on the left side of the black screen (under the NowPlaying heading). When I try to add a playlist, under the Radio heading(folder???) I can't do it...there is no choice named Radio to add under, even though I'm looking at the Radio heading(folder???) on the screen. When I select Radio/My Favorites and try to add the currently playing track(radio station) the choice is greyed out. But there is nothing listed under My Favorites. The only place I find this currently playing radio station listed is under Now Playing. And when I try to add it from there to a playlist the "add currently playing track" is greyed out. This is worse than Catch 22. Is this just a really poorly designed software program, or am I missing something basic. I don't have this problem with other programs. Am I going to have to play with it for hours to figure out something so simple? I've tried the Help files, they tell me how to save a radio station to My Stations, which I've tried over and over but unfortunately there is nothing, nor folder nor playlist, on my computer named My Stations.     - Playing FLV files with WMP11 My daughter has just purchased a laptop with Vista and I am setting it up for her. She has a large collection of flash video files that she has been playing using WMP11 on my XP-SP2 box for a while now. They do not play on her laptop. She has been downloading the .flv files, changing the extension to .wmv and they play. I have not loaded any plug ins for WMP and none are listed. I have the Flash player installed in my browser, as does the laptop, along with Java, Shockwave, Quicktime. I have a RealPlayer installed, the laptop does not. Both have Nero 7.5 installed. I just downloaded and installed FFDShow. No change. (Am I supposed to import codecs? How?) My questions are: Step by step on how to load codecs so WMP will play all file formats, particularly FLV. Why can my WMP play flvs - where did the codec come from - how can I find it? How can I add the codecs from FFDShow to WMP? Others on the web say this works. I know I am missing some important piece to the puzzle here - too inexperienced with codecs and video. I am not inexperienced with computers, or windows, or rooting around in the registry - (experienced enough to know not to mess with it unless I know what I'm doing).     - Photo Sort Order Win MP 11, Win XP SP2 here... I recently purchased a CD of pro photos (.jpg's) taken of me on a rafting trip. They are in sequence by photo number and all have the same exact date/time stamp on them. When I copy them to a folder my PC and bring them into WMP 11, they are no longer in number (alphabetical) sequence. They all show the same Date Taken in WMP, but no time is shown. They are also not in file size sequence. I can sort them into alpha order, but when I close WMP 11 and return, they are back to out-of-order sequence. The problem is I'm tring to view this album in sequence on my HP Media Smart TV which uses WMP11 as it's source. Since they are out of sequence in WMP they don't show up in sequence on the TV either.     - WMP11-XP: Not reading Media Information/tags I copied previously ripped music (mp3s and wmas) from a DVD I burned to my work system. WMP11 sees the files and added them to my library, but all under 'unknown'. The files had previously been on a system with WMP 9 or 10, and they were correctly cataloged/sorted there automatically. When they were ripped, I chose not to use copy protection (They are all, however, from CDs I own legally). When I look at the properties of an individual song in WMP11, there is no information for Artist, Album, etc. except the song title. When I look at the properties of the actual file in Windows Explorer (Summary/Advanced), all the information is there and correct. Why is WMP11 not seeing the file information and organizing all of my music under 'unknown'?     - Video playback is not smooth after Installing New ATI HD 3875. I installed a new ATI HD 3875 video card. I have no problem playing video games with very high settings. But when I play video in the media player, and especially during action scence, the video flickles.     - How to display track times in WMP When playing a track I want to see the current postion in the track and the total track time like Real Player shows, eg 1:10/4:30 showing that I am 1 minute 10 secs into a 4 1/2 minute track. Apparently this is an attempt to reduce online piracy of music? Piracy is an issue all in its self there are many agencies=92 that deal with this and why should the end user be deprived of functions in WMP11. Everyone knows Windows Media Player is not the culprit. There is many ways to take what is not yours and Windows Media Player is not one of them. WMP11 is so that you cannot remove it or fix it for now a deliberate attempt to stop people from "save as" on line and forgot about the end user that never "save as" on line. Disabled at the local level is not rite: Apparently: Somewhere in the registry are setting disabling Wmp11 from being able to save as I have looked .yet not very close at the settings I did see don't update ? I don't think it is linked to IE7 and is isolated to WMP11 alone. Admitting not many are affected by this disabling of "save as" In the local recording studio environment: the artist records there sample music *.wav format then replay viva Windows Media Player 11 Save as to a working folder: "E:\record\sample1\ filename.wav" After preview save to folder "F:\record_f\final_finish\filename.wav" This works normal from WMP11 playlist you can search all drives for any *.wav file double click the file it will open in WMP11 and use the save as to the working folder or redirect the sample file *.wav to any destination folder as In XP PRO WMP11 or Vista For all other formats the "SAVE AS" has been disabled in VISTA all versions. The problem is once converted to any other format other than *.wav WMP11 refuses to move files to any work folder across the network, not all files are on the same machine or server. This presents a work related problem. WMP11 in Vista will locate let you review the file then you have to manually go to the file location to move to new destination.     - wmp won't let me do anything I have had trouble opening wmp 11 lately. I found a fix by going into task manager and ending the process. I can listen to cd's or the library.     - WMP11 Visualizations Missing Please help!! My visualizations have stopped working in MCE2005 (XP) and WMP11. I have not turned them off accidentally and I can still use the channel+/- buttons to change visualization type but none appear - just a black blank screen (I still get the album covers and track names in bottom left corner). I've even tried to install new visualizations but nothing works. This happened a couple of weeks ago and it's starting to annoy me now!!!     - can't uninstall Windows Media Player 11 I can't uninstall -- a box comes up and says "This may affect other programs; are you sure you want to continue?" And the only option is to CANCEL. So I can't continue to remove it. It says "Rollback status" or something like that. I don't even HAVE Windows 10, so the rollback is irrelevant. My computer won't take 10, and I was advised to download the Service Pack 2 -- wouldn't take it, I have 3. Also, was advised to uninstall 11 before getting 10.     - I can't run Windows Media Player 11 I get an error message: "Unsupported Operating System - To install Media Player 11, your computer must be running Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 or later". In fact, according to Microsoft's website; Media Player 11 requires either: (a) Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2; or (b) Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, with update rollups KB900325 and KB925766. My PC already had Service Pack 2 installed, and I installed rollups KB900325 and KB925766 to try to get round this error message; but no luck. I don't know what my operating system is (blushes), but my PC has Media Center, and I bought it in 2004. Could it be that it's incapable of running Media Player 11?     - Unable to properly remove USB drive w/o Windows Media Player shut When you insert the USB drive, WMP automatically snags it and won't allow the drive to be removed properly saying "Problem Ejecting USB Mass Storage Device" "The device 'Generic volume' can't be stopped right now. Try stopping the device again later." If you shut down WMP you can remove the drive, but then you lose your place in the podcast or other audio that WMP was playing. There is a FAQ document explains how to remove a device from the library: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/faq/sync.mspx#q5_8 For WMP 11, it says to remove the device first, which, of course, requires shutting down WMP and when you bring it back up after removing the USB drive, the device isn't going to appear in the navigation tree, so there's nowhere to "right-click the device". And if you just remove the device w/o shutting down WMP, the device automatically disappears, and again there's no device left to "right-click" on. And even if you ignore the instructions to remove the device so you CAN right-click on the device, you can't click on "End Sync Partnership" because it's grayed out!     - How to change WMP11 back to WMP9 without system recovery! I think that the function of playlist in WMP11 is rather than WMP9. I made a playlist that contains other sub-playlist, in WMP9 I can step in unrolling it to sub-playlist to play some one music under some sub-playlist. but I don't know how to do this in WMP10 and later version.     - Windows Media Player v. 11 no longer able to acquire DRM licenses Hi, I work for a digital music retailer in the UK and 25% of our catalogue is only offered as DRM-protected WMAs. Lately we have seen tons of users who have been unable to acquire licenses for their tracks. Some customers had done this ages ago but were unable to acquire new licenses anyway, and were unable to do so. Our support computers aren't have trouble with this program, but the problem is so widespread that it cannot be based on simple ignorance on the part of our customers. I have already advised them to: -delete cookies/cache -delete contents of DRM folder -update DRM components -enable active X. I was wondering if this might be related to a recent firefox upgrade, even if users just downloaded the upgrade but weren't using firefox to download the tracks?     - WMP - better external media player support Just an idea... Recently pluged in my 80GB iPod classic and realised there are no features in WMP for easily viewing the contents, playlists and adding/removing/editing the contents of the device. It would be nice to know you can plug in your iPod and easily use it on anyone's computer running Windows without them having to have iTunes. I also went into options and clicked on the Devices tab and found it wasn't listed there. This is odd in 2 ways as i have enabled drive access to the device so it is listed in "computer" as an external drive. It would be good if WMP had the basic functions of iTunes where when an iPod was plugged in, the contents was listed and playable and the playlists on the deveice were also accessable. External Media players are just about the biggest & most popular source people use to listen to music on, WMP supports Online Radio, Digital Music and Audio CD's, why not the most popular source? There needs to be a tab in WMP for this that when clicked brings up a similar interface to iTunes. I would just search the device but wouldn't this add a heep of files to my media library? This would be very annoying as i would have a library that has a heep of files in it that arent present when they devie is disconnected. Any way, there is no userfriendly feature for external media players (iPods) in WMP, time to fix this. Hello!

Maybe this is too simple but how can I access the songs I have on my
Terastation Live?
I have PCast activated, I can access the songs through iTunes, I can add the
songs to my library by adding the folder, I can also access other libraries
on other computers on my home network but somehow I have a problem accessing
the Media Server on the Terastation.

The computer is running Vista Premium and I am using WMP11.
