I have tried with MS tech support to install sp3 but no luck. We uninstalled
all spyware and anti virus and went into safe mode and it still wont install.
We deleted and re downloaded the sp3 and still no luck. Any ideas?

It will install all the way to the end then it will say the svc pack was not
completely installed then I hit ok and it uninstalls the sp3. we went into
the error log and they think its my anti virus and spyware programs so we
uninstalled them and same thing. I have the sp2 now with no updates, we had
to use recovery console and get rid of the sp3 beta I had (which you had
given me suggestions to get rid of)

Be sure to disable all active anti-malware programs, check whether
anything is active at StartUp.You can surely check it by MSCONFIG
tool,if you find anything there uncheck it,then reboot. Now make sure all
these have been totally disabled, now retry the installation.

I did all the steps in from the windows site you gave and nothing works. I
did the registry repair as well and nothing. I get the same error codes that
sp3 didn't completely install then it uninstalls. I have no anti virus or
spyware per ms tech. The head tech guys are supposed to call tonight so
maybe they can fix. Any other ideas while I wait? Thanks
Marty

Do you have MCE 2005 XP HP Compaq Presario SR2020NX AMD chip? That's what I
have and it did not install on first try. I was lucky and didn't try again
and have been reading about all the horror stories. Then again I'm sure
others have had success. Going to contact HP support one of these days.
