I am using HP PC with HDMI out to a plasma tv with HDMI in and can't get the
signal to go to the TV. Any ideas?

Have you verified you are using the correct resolution and scan frequency?
It should be automatically detected but might be worth trying to manually
setting these values.

If this does not work, what video card are you using. My ATI cards have all
worked perfectly but I had an Nvidia card that it took me a week get it to
work (I had to change registry settings to get the card to use the correct
profile). Go and update your video drivers.

There is an error message that says not monitor detected. Does that make a
difference?

The tv is turned on and set to the HDMI port I have it plugged into. The
message is on windows media center setup on my computer screen when I try to
switch my source to the TV.

Is this your configuration:
Two displays with your computer screen set as the primary display and your
TV set as the secondary display using extended desktop mode. If not please
state what it is.
What resolution are you sending to each display and what type of display is
your computer screen.
I don't understand what you mean when you say you are trying to set the TV
as your source since your HDMI connection is for output from your PC to your
TV not the other way around.

If it says monitor not detected, it does not see the sync signal being sent
through the cable. Did you find out what type of video card you have. Does
your card have both DVI and HDMI? If you have DVI available then try a DVI
to HDMI cable, just to see if it works. Thats a good place to start.
