The error is caused by the computer trying to execute program instruction
from an area of memory designated to contain only data - no instructions.
This type of activity is common in viruses and other malware.
It is also unfortunatly a technique that is used by older (and some newer)
programs that has long been a bad programing practice but done anyway. With
new hardware (in the CPU chip) the system can now protect itself from such
rogue software.
It is probable that some software that has attached itself to explorer is
defective in this way.
Does it happen when you click on a particular file type for instance? If so,
that a viewer for that file type may need to be updated.
