remote control stopped working after updates

I couldn't find the answer to this, so forgive me if I'm duplicating a
question... I'm running windows media center 2005 on an hp home theater pc.
I recently upgraded to the rollup 2 and windows media player version 11, and
my remote controls have stopped working. I tried installing hotfix KB912024,
but that didn't help. I tried resetting the remote, but that didn't help. I
tried reprogramming my universal remote, which worked before, but that didn't
help.

The IR keyboard still works, but none of the remote controls do. Can
someone point me torwards a solution to this? It's pretty frustrating.
