I am currently running Windows XP Media Center 2005 and am having problems
with my usb devices. My printer and MP3 player were working fine up to
recently, now my system says something is plugged in but does not recognize
anything. I have tried the supposed "HOT FIX", unplugging & plugging in every
device, and the suspending power fixes to no avail.
Can anybody help me out?
Apparently from what I read, SP3 fixes this problem, but alas there is
problems installing that as well.
HELP ME!!

Even though your are running Media Center, your problem is not related to
the Media Center application, I would suggest reposting to the xp.general or
hardware groups, your likely to get a quicker response.

Try removing all of the USB devices in Device Manager, Reboot the computer.

Windows XP will re-load the drivers from cache.

I don't know what other problem you may have that prevents installing SP3.

I had a similar problem with my Vista Home Premium system. USB drives
plugged into a hub weren't recognized. The hub had an external power
supply that I hadn't bothered to plug in. When I plugged in the power
supply my problem with recognizing the external drives disappeared.
