how to resume autorun option for windows professional computers?

once I pressed the 'shift' key while inserting a blank dvd-r disc by fault.

now I want to resume the autorun functionality back to normal.

problem(s):

Burn4free program won't detect it when I tried to burn data.

It takes 4 non-consecutive circles to get the disc detected by the computer.
sometimes even more. now it won't even detect the disc at all.

another problem:
the external hdd attached to the computer cannot be detected rightaway as
well.

whenever I right-click the dvd drive on my computer, my pc does not
respond.
I need to close the my computer application to get the computer
running.

is there any relevance ?

please advise and help,
