media center slow with application failure message

I have windows vista home premimum with media center that up untill now i use
a lot to record tv. have never had problem in past but all of a suden the
last couple of weeks, my recordings fail and when i try to use guide or
recorded ty windows I get a window that is headed , (Application failure)
With the following message.

Acritical windows media center process has failed please restart the
computer and try again. If problem persists contact your hardware manufacture
for assistance.

medai center also runns slow and fails at times so slow that I can not use
guide or set up recordings HELP""""

How much hard space do you have free?

When is the last time you did a drive clean. Right click, properties, then
click the Disk Clean up button.

How about a malware scan, have you done so lately?

Yes I have tried both I have over 300 gig free space and i use norton 360
antiviris and security and I scan often
